Made in Abyss (Anime) add
(Greetings from Portugal) (Spoiler-free review) (8/10 overall)

World-building done beautifully; engaging and captivating story; immersive universe with endless potential for development; characters with layers and interesting backstory.

At first, Made in Abyss may look a kids show: children go on an epic adventure type of story. That was the main reason, that made me overlook this show in the season. How I was wrong!

The Abyss is just a gigantic pit with unknown depth. May look simple, but all the dynamics around the concept are so exciting. Lowering and ascending the abyss, to collect relics and treasures from the far past, isn't that elemental. There's consequences associated with ...

Why I rated Shinsekai yori very bad "3"?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's the perfect example for the fantasy/sci fi genre done badly. The world-building was lazy and uninspiring. The characters, mainly Saki, Satoru, Maria, Shun and Mamoru are boring to the core and their personalities add zero to the story. That's because they don't actually have one... they're all the same thing but with different designs. Is that really what we need in anime? The story is fairly simple... oh but tries hard to be complex and hard to understand! By confusing the audience with useless narrative tricks (in this case): weird time-leaps; zero ...

Fune wo Amu (Anime) add
(Greetings from Portugal !) (overall Fune wo Amu! 4/10)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
“Yet amid the vast sea of words, The Great Passage will bring them together.”

Oh the Great Passage! How I wish you were great. I was expecting a great story with well-built characters. The premise was so seductive – How to complete a dictionary? A show about books, but not just books, the ultimate compendium of words and meanings! And the Gods know, how we all struggle with words and communication. You can never be 100% of the true meaning of my words. That is fascinating, for me. We invented language, only to misunderstand ourselves and others. It’s ...

Barakamon (Anime) add
(Greetings from Portugal!) (overall Barakamon 9/10)
------------------------------------------------------------------
What a joy, what a pleasure!
Such a simple, emotional and inspiring story.
Being inspired isn’t easy and the world pressures you to always be inspired and creative.
The problem is: you can’t force yourself. The creative side of the brain doesn’t work like the rational part of it, working hard as you can might help, but doesn’t solve the artistic block. Seishuu Handa (the main character) is a young and promising calligrapher (yes that’s a thing and it’s quite interesting) that will learn to live slowly, far from the busy and troubling Tokyo.
Life happens too fast, if we could ...

(Greetings from Portugal) (overall Sakamichi no Apollon 4/10)
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Well, this was boring.

I watched Kids on the slope, following the Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu (that I love) recommendations... the regret, oh the regret.
Besides the bizarre and very out of this world recommendation I'll try to keep this review simple and focused.

Kids on the slope is about teens discovering love. Nothing wrong with that. The show want us to think that is about jazz, it isn't. But that is not the real problem, in fact the music was good. The jam sessions scenes were the best part in the all thing. The 1-dimensional characters were the major ...

Baccano! (Anime) add
(Greetings from Portugal) (overall Baccano! 10/10)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t give an overall 10/10 easily or without giving it a good night of sleep and reflection.
It’s not just about the story, or the incredibly funny Isaac and Miria or the other absurd (in a good way) characters - the greatness in this series is in the way the story is told.

Story (9/10)

Life isn’t simple, time isn’t simple – they only move forward. Baccano! gives you a story out of chrnological or spatial order, with comedy, action and supernatural elements (very well developed and mixed with mystery). The specials are even crazier (again, in a good way), and ...

(Greetings from Portugal) (Spoiler-free) (7/10 overall)

If you’re that person, who likes slow burn narratives, with some thinking in it, well, ACCA 13 is for you. Jean (the MC) is quite interesting, he is very passive, very calm and introspective and he works as an inspector for ACCA, in a kingdom (yes there’s a 99 year old monarch). The story is not that special, but it keeps you guessing.

You’ll have to be an active viewer to enjoy ACCA 13 – forget multitasking! It’s not advisable to lose all the little details, because they are quite enjoyable and important to understand the story as well. Oh, ...

(Greetings from Portugal.)

And so it ends, such a beautiful ending to a beautiful story. If you watched Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinkuu: Sukeroku Futatabi-hen, loving it's prequel, you'll also love the continuation.
This anime (with lovely animation, quite cinematic it fact) needs attention, it's premise and synopsis is not the most exciting thing you ever heard, but it's so well made!

The way this story is told and it's incredible characters compel the viewer to invest emotionally in the narrative (10/10 - must watch).

You will not be disappointed or frustrated with the end. I mean, I'll miss the show, I'll miss all the characters, but I'm pleased ...

(This is my first review - greetings from Portugal)

If you want a very beautiful story, told magistrally, with gorgeaus (quite cinematic) animation and some very serious character development - you need this anime in your life.

Rakugo is a japanese form of storytelling. I know it isn't the most exciting thing you ever heard, but you will find it enjoyable, once you understand all the work and passion it needs to function. The underlying narrative is gorgeous, all the characters are very human and that is what makes Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu so special.

Watching this anime (and the sequel, for closing this delightful story so well) ...
