Between Ao no Hako and Baby Steps, there is a very clear overlap in genres. They're both romantic sports anime. Not only that, but there is an emphasis on racket sports in both. I'd say Baby Steps is 80/20 in terms of sports/romance, while Blue Box is roughly 30/70 in terms of sports/romance. So say you read Baby Steps and wished there was more of an emphasis on the romance instead of the tennis, I really think you'll enjoy Blue Box.

This is a line I don’t see being drawn enough, there are far more similarities between these two shoes than there are differences. Baby Steps and Cross Game are shows centered around sports, with a romance side dish. While watching the show, I felt a strong overlap in art style too. Where Cross Game is a bit heavier on emotions, Baby Steps tends to be light hearted. These two anime know how to create an atmosphere that is worthy of representing sports as a genre. Baby Steps does so in a slightly more technical manner, though.

- Gintama and Senyuu seem to parody other anime in popular genres. Shounen and superpowers. As well as maki fun of other popular anime titles (E.G Death Note.) - the characters share very similar personality traits. Not necesarily past and development, but their personality is somewhat similar. - the humor in these anime is similar. The humor that isn't popular seems to be on similar topics and is set up in a very similar manner.
