This story is a slice of life, comedy, so it usually has more standalone episodes. There isn't really 1 cohesive story. However, it has a certain charm that makes you want to keep watching. I usually get bored by slice of life, but the characters are each very vibrant and fun and there are interesting enough problems that you want to complete each episode (rather than other shows like Lucky Star, where you can get easily bored by the excessively mundane problems). It went on for the correct amount of time before dragging on and getting boring.

It gets the job done. It has ... a softer art style with a softer palette which works well for the slice-of-life tones and light humor. Nothing sticks out as too terrible or exceedingly strong.

Sound: 10
The opening and ending are both super catchy. The OSTs are surprisingly good and memorable. I could definitely use them to study with. They bring strong feelings of nostalgia and happiness to me. They went above and beyond for this anime.

Character: 9
I only gave this a 9 because the characters are quite 1 dimensional, but that's part of the charm. Since it's a shorter show, you don't get too tired from the characters' lack of dimension. You grow to love each of them and how they connect with each other. They are each memorable with unique designs and they repeat the names enough that you don't usually forget names or anything.

I loved this anime. I've rewatched it many times whenever I'm feeling down. It brings a certain peace to me that is hard to find in the outside world. Would definitely recommend. It's a simplistic joy. The characters each mean a lot to me and bring me a lot of joy.

i gotta say i was OBSESSED with this show as it was coming out. the ending was absolutely devastating for me and shook me to my core.

I'm a sucker for angst and pain so this was right up my alley honestly. The overall plot definitely had space to grow. This is a nearly episodic show where they explore a new character and background most episodes. The art was amazing in this show, and the opening and closing were both very strong both artistically and soundwise. The soundtrack for this show was quite solid and the opening and ending songs both bop.

Where this show ... lacks in story, it makes up in characters. Since each episode you learn about a new character you get really attached to them. However, this show ended prematurely and most of their issues never really got sorted out. This did make me drop the rating a little. This show does deal with heavy themes such as abuse, bullying, and homophobia/transphobia.

Overall, while I personally enjoyed this show a ton for the angst factor, it does fall short in many ways. The ending came out of nowhere and could've been built up a lot more. It was shocking rather and disjointed and couldn't have been predicted. It felt like an ending that was slapped on (which it kind of was because the show was supposed to be longer), kind of like the "and they all lived happily ever after" or "and they all died" trope regardless of all the untied ends. I would recommend this show for people who enjoy constant pain (maybe fanfic readers?? idek...). it's not for everyone, but i thought it was one of the better shows of the season.

for the story, i would say that you really get sucked into each episode and it's definitely a light-hearted show that can always cheer me up no matter what. the only thing that dissatisfies me is the ending but it remains true to the manga so i guess it's alright -_-

the art style is really great, especially considering this is from a 4koma. has a definite shoujo feel that really captures the mood/aesthetic of the story and characters. there's a lot of fun, bright colors and moments that catch the eye.

the opening for this show BOPS. i listen to it on repeat and it never ... fails to get my hyped. the ost can be quite emotional at time and is memorable even though i watched this show a while ago (and then rewatched it...and then rewatched it again...) the soundtrack always fits the mood. there's some very cutesy songs that make my heart flutter when i listen to it ahahahha

i LOVE these characters. i love how they all make fun of certain shoujo tropes and they have more dimension than a lot of characters do in anime. you really root for the couples to get together (chiyo and nozaki esp!) which i don't usually feel the same in other animes. i feel like in a lot of anime people end up shipping different things than the canon ships because the girl characters are pretty flat and ppl can see the lack of buildup and connection between them(like how naruto and hinata ended up together even though there was actually so much screentime w naruto and sasuke lol which leads to a lot of ppl shipping narusasu). i would say that is not true for this show. the characters each have really dynamic personalities and you can't help to want them together. the characters each have fun, recognizable designs and memorable names imo

overall i loved this show. have rewatched it at least 2-3 times and would watch again. never fails to make me happy!

I would say that Banana Fish is a bit hard to get into initially—it throws you right into the plot and story and it's a bit hard to catch up right at the beginning. There's some questions that I ask like "Why was Eiji going to interview a gang leader in the first place??? Like is that a thing people do? Especially since he is a teen away from parents lol" but I guess it's different times. The story is definitely for a mature audience but once you understand it, it is hard to put down. This story haunts me — even more since I ... was around their age when I first watched it (they are kids???). Sometime I just randomly think about it and cry to be honest. I've never been that moved by a piece of media. This show does deal with a lot of heavy content so I would highly recommend not watching if you get triggered or anything.

The art in this show I would say functions really well. It lands on the more realistic side of anime and never takes you out of the scene. The locations were all researched quite well and it's interesting seeing an anime set in the US! The manga art is a little different, which I also appreciate. I'm not too attached to the anime art style to be quite frank, but the art is realistic in the way I think it is great for its function. The opening and endings animations are all great and very moving. There are some cut scenes and zoom ins that are really powerful and I still remember months after watching. The action scenes are amazing.

While the opening and endings are really strong for me, I'm not that attached to the OST. The OST are not my style and not really memorable to me. I listen to Prayer X by King Gnu on repeat. The lyrics are so strong and I really love it. There are times in the show when the closing comes on after a really heavy moment and it's really fitting to cry to that's all I can say.

The characters each mean so much to me. They are all really well created to be each others foils and support each other in a well fitting manner. You really grow to love the main characters a lot, and utterly hate others.

This anime stabbed me in the heart and left me to die. I love it to the moon and back even though it hurt me so much. I've never been this affected by a piece of media to be quite honest. I would highly recommend it if you are over 18 (or 16 at least), not a homophobic POS, and ready for some tears.

The art in this show is amazing! You can really tell the animators had a lot of fun experimenting and playing around. You can definitely see this in the opening song along with some of the scenes where mob goes into ??? mode and turns into a whole different art style. I was utterly blown away.

The opening song is very fun. The song is upbeat with bright visuals that you could take a screenshot of at any point and have a great desktop background.

I don't remember much about the soundtrack tbh but the opening and closings are very fun.

Characters are very fun and ... although they appear to have a more simple art style, they are all recognizable and you will get to know their personalities and names pretty quickly. You grow to love each of them. Overall fun to watch and would highly recommend!
