While a work can be considered perfect for some people, that doesn't mean it can avoid critiques from others. That's why I will dedicate this review to critique this manga.


Suicide island, is a no man island where the Japanese government decided to forsake their own suicidal people because the gov budget can't support them no more. While it has a simple beginning, the way how it decides to describe the people who were stranded in the island is in a way how majority of suicidal people (or even depressed) ... think, when something is hard to accept or they can't bear it no more, they end their own life. Thus comes the main message the author wants to deliver through his story is life, and why we must treasure it (or so I thought for half the story).
While the main objective of these stranded people is to survive in this island (they need to hunt, and to make their own food), they must also resist the temptation to commit suicide because they are suicidal people after all. And here the story depart with the mc in his journey for hunting while looking for a meaning for his life.
So in order to survive, people must form a community, in which people divide tasks (fishing, searching for food or veggies, developing tools...) in order to survive, and even protect themselves from danger sometimes.

Some may think the story is good as it is, but imagine having 2 different factions with different ideologies, a faction use sexual activities in their daily routine, enslave woman, and even their leader kill his own people to sooth his own hunger, and even deceive them in a way to make them obey his order. While the other faction use a more logical and somewhat gender equal methods to manage their life without discrimination. It must be clear for you now who's good and who's evil? But hold on, in the author's point of view, all life is equal, so even if the evil faction attacks and kill people, the good faction always will forgive and just use bluffs to make their enemies run away. Trust me when I say that +100 chapters of this story goes like this: The evil faction attack to kill men and enslave women and steal food, the good faction repels them, then the good faction decides to attack them too. When they want to ambush the evil faction they realize they are normal people just like them, and they retreat or they are discovered by enemy so they for run it. this same plot keeps going on for multiple times in 100 chapters.

One of the most disturbing things that just annoyed me the whole time, of how the author use something for the sake of plot development but deliberately throws it when not needed, when you have more than one of these objects, slowly but surely the story keeps making no-sense when these objects keeps adding up.
Taking as example pregnancy to explain my previous statement, while the author deliberately made one of the women in the island pregnant to show the importance of life, and that we don't have right to decide for a baby that has not been born whether he will be born or killed before even seeing this world. The author totally ignores a problem that he did introduce himself. What do you think a group of people that keeps doing sexual activities daily but woman don't get pregnant, you may think that they are using contraceptives, but don't forget that we are on a no man island when they don't have access to drugs, the only left answer is herbal medicine which itself causes a lot of side effects (tiredness, nausea, some organ failures...) which will keep women unable from working, where in the story they seem to be doing fine and hardworking, in fact the woman number grows up as more people comes to the island. That's what I can call a plothole in the story.

Another example is The strange change of heart. ex: Sei's decision to leave his group for deciding to leave one of his friends in the enemies hand, he was probably the person insisting the most to attack the enemy, It was so good of a plot development as to show everyone's intentions. You'll be appalled to knew what comes next. When his friends decides to fight the enemy and call for him. The first thing mc thinks of is to solve this peacefully even though more people were killed when he left and he knews that fully well. Then what was the point of him leaving the group in the first place?

Characters: 3/10
While at the beginning, they look promising, and have room for development. You'll be disappointed of how little the characters can grow other than embracing life. And what will be thrown at you at later stage of the story is how characters are outright stupid, have sudden change of heart for no particular reason, can forge their own justice even though their friends are dying or people are getting raped. Everything that you did like in character early on, will keep you awake the night later on.
Taking the mc (Sei) as an example, while he did grow from a NEET teen with no desire for the future, always doom and gloom, to a happy man looking forward for the future, treasuring life and good at surviving on his own using bow. Anything else in his character feels like it was just ignored by the author, or deliberately made the way it is to keep plot in stalemate that will keep the story going for hundred chapters with nothing new. As far as I am concerned (even some people comments through my personal read), Sei is the most disappointing character or mc I've seen in a while, while he keeps talking of how he treasures his dear friends, or how he is willing to kill in order to save them or take revenge, the only thing that keeps showing while he is trying to shoot his target is hesitation then he misses his target, and in the middle of it he either ends up making more of his friends face danger or die, that's how it has been in the beginning and will continue till the end. People are hypocrite, so is Sei, The only time he decided to pull the trigger is to save his girlfriend. And other than that, I don't think he treasures his relationship with friends like he claims to.
I feel like the side cast that are more decisive (like Cap and Ryuu) are really the characters that need to be the main cast in a survival stories, while they may be rash. At least they are decisive in hectic moments. While mc did fuck up in every moment he needed to be decisive. I get it that hesitation is one of mc's main qualities to show how he treasures life. But what can't be tolerated is to keep going on like this for the whole story without growing up.

Drawing: 5/10
I don't think the drawings were as good as the other works of the author I've seen. Sometimes faces can be generic to the point that you will not be able to distinguish characters if they are naked or they change clothes.
You can follow up the story, but other than gorgeous sceneries (ocean, forest and even plants are fascinating...), characters can be drawn sometimes so bad that you can't feel immersed.

Overall: 4/10
While the story at the beginning was promising. The plot with it's defects just keeps worsening the overall enjoyment as you progress.
Imagine a person that lived in the island for years if not a decade, do you think he will suddenly mess up his crops suddenly in order to show up in front of mc when he needs it? No, while it was such a fortunate coincidence, it also just shows up how author did think little up to nothing of how to progress the story and end it.
If you want to read this when you can tolerate indecisive mc and bad plot development, then go ahead, just don't regret your investment at the end

Warning : Tobaku Datenroku Kaiji: 24-oku Dasshutsu-hen is the continuation of the kaiji series, so if you want read it, you probably need to start from the beginning

This review will not contain major spoilers if you have read the last part and I will try to make it as short as possible

The story is occurring just after Kaiji and Kazuya fierce one poker gamble, after that Kaiji won the 2.4 billion yen in the last single decisive bet. And now it's time for him, Chang and Mario to escape from the gambling location with a stack of money, and this mission should be accomplished without ... making Teai able to track them (and finally the endless night have ended, this gambling night have longed about 14 years in the real timeline from 2004 to 2018).
Here a new unusual development begins in the series. And Nobuyuki-sensei yet give's another masterpiece with his particular ingenious schemes that makes even an escape plan entertaining and will urge you to read a chapter after another (for me, I was thinking of reading this part after the end of the serialization, but I couldn't stand not reading it at the end).
The story until now makes me long for the next events, I don't understand why, but every event in this part is like somehow a decisive thing in the story that makes you feel anxious of what will happen later. When you will go through the chapters, you are going to notice even the slight coincidence, will affect the story heavily, so that make's the continuation of the story more and more unpredictable.

As for the drawing, the author is still hanging on and giving his best, especially for this part, cause there are some unusual sceneries contrary to the usual kaiji where we are solely fixating on the psychological gambles, the deep facial expressions and the tense atmosphere.
For the characters, we were introduced to new ones, as well as the return of some from the old parts

This part for me will be perhaps the final season as it goes for the time being. If you haven't read it yet, you certainly must give it a chance, cause the whole story in my point of view is underrated or avoided due to it's deep psychological theme.

Finally, Kaiji's gambling life reach it's climax, with the inhuman devilish Kazuya that have showed up in the kaiji's series since the 3rd part. The story takes part just after the end of Kazuya's 'dinner' while watching the true friendship gamble with Kaiji, when Mario and Chang ended up being betrayed by what they were calling a friend, and being rescued by ... Kaiji by giving a 70 million yen, after that Kaiji decides to take them as spectators for his long awaited gamble in the endless night.
In this gamble, Kaiji fate will be decided by the goddess 'Mother Sophie' (a machine), the referee and dealer of cards for this gamble, the minimum betting amount of this gamble is 200 million yen, where basically Kaiji have the possibility to bet a couple of times in the worst case.
In this part, our fateful game that will decide the fate of Kaiji is named One-Poker, in general a game where the cards are the same poker cards excluding the joker, divided in 2 type of cards Up and Down. The cards from 8 and above, the faces cards and the ace are Up, the rest is Down, each player have 2 cards, and will be served a one in next round from mother Sophie's hand, the biggest card can win the weaker one. Down card is automatically losing to an up, expect that an ace can be defeated by a 2, in each round you can bet at least 200 million represented as a life, the game will not stop until the total lost of a part.
What makes this whole manga entertaining and special is the psychological non-stop war in every part of it, leaving the reader in a doubt of everything, the continuous comparison of every situation in a realistic way, everything in Kaiji's betting games is unpredicted excluding the end, you will be at lost in every chapter, what's exactly going to happen next, every round of this One-Poker is a life or death one, the mangaka has gathered all of Kaiji's momentum in all these years and betted in an once in lifetime game, you won't complain even if you want to.
The drawing didn't degrade at all even if the mangaka is continuously become an old man, but continuously giving the impression that I still can evolve in every part of the Kaiji series, and what makes it more and more enjoyable expressions and way of reactions drew by the author, reflecting some realistic sides of human like greediness and evil.
This story is one of the most enjoyable games manga I have even read, and the characters development makes it a good one.



- Second part of my review (WARNING SPOILERS):

This fifth part was unexpectedly good one, that made me enjoy it the most, especially when Kaiji was on the verge of winning the game and getting all the 2,400,000,000 Yen for himself, but suddenly losing all the momentum and turning the table upside down by Kazuya, where Kaiji loses all his lives and is cornered, but after that with his useless struggle, he pass through all the calamities/hardships and return the strike a double to Kazuya.
Kazuya loses the bet for not believing Kaiji that he will surely lose, and by betting his life, it will be sacrificed by the executioner mother Sophie. Here where Kazuya will be saved by Kaiji and at the same time the end of this part.
The end was definitely predictable but at the same time it was an emotional one, cause after all this time when Kazuya doubted all the people surrounding him and calling them hypocrites, he finally puts his believes in someone like Kaiji who was belittled by him. And in all this part, the author has given us a bunch of new manners that didn't even exist in the previous parts, one of them was the true friendship, cause a you may notice, Kaiji was always betrayed by his so-called friends, but here, it was the contrary, where Mario and Chang had given up there own lifes to save Kaiji.
Truly I was expecting the continuation of the story... But at least it was a good part, that was overflowed with art given to us by the author.
And hopefully waiting for his next gambling works... As I was always doing.

"Flutter into your dreams, glitter into tomorrow" by Kawato Koichi

This manga is one of the best baseball stories you could wish for, it's a little bit old but it won't make you feel disappointed after ending it but you will wish for more, what impressed me more in the story that there isn't something you can't dream of, at least what Kawato-sensei's thinks

Story:
The ... plot starts after the new transferred teacher named Kawato Koichi come's to nikogaku high school and become a homeroom teacher for a class with some punks that are all idling in baseball club, so after that he decides to deceive those ruffians and resume baseball club activities ...

Drawing :
There is nothing to complain about, the managaka didn't give us any half-assed drawing, all the manga drawing was epic, the most enjoyable thing is the peculiar face expressions that are Morita-sensei speciality, some great scenes were extremely unforgettable to the extent that I have finished this manga in a short time

Characters:
The characters in this manga are a little special, you can think of it as the golden age shonen characters, that have already vanished and you won't see them anymore in this century, makes the story more and more enjoyable.
The development of these characters was also some unexpected and totally an epic one

Finally, what I think of this manga, it is generally an underrated one, most haven't given it a chance, but if you really interested in some baseball you will find it enjoyable. The story itself isn't speaking only of baseball ( not like diamond no ace ), you can think of it as a good school comedy, most of the manga scenes made me laugh/cry due to the excellent plot. And I really hope to see some other good manga like this one from the author

Short review for the OVA:

Ps : my rating is only for the comedy included in this episode , but the rating for the episode in general for me is 6

This episode is an OVA that doesn't relate to the main story, bundled with the 6th anime DVD, a refreshing one , It was the funniest episode from a long time , aside from time travel and what is awaiting okabe in the future ( the mad scientist distress ) , this episode main focus is about valentine day, where the most scenes are purely comedy ones or fan service ( lukako wearing maid dress ) ... .
This episode is a little reminiscent to the lively ones that we used to see in the first season of steins gate.

Story :
It speaks generally about chocolate presents stuff and the valentine day , including some funny moment that are unfamiliar especially in the last season , for me it is a good way to waste time if you don't have any funny anima to see , or if you want to see more about steins gate ... The funniest scenes are the love confession of Kagari to Mr.. Brown and Okabe ( In Suzuha's wild imaginary ) , other than that is where they stripped lukako and make him wear maid clothes

Characters :
As always, what makes steins gate itself is the unforgettable characters, the way every character has its own cliche , most characters are sarcastic in this episode , and the more funniest one here
were Mr. brown , Suzuha

Sound :
There's nothing new to expect, the same as the the latest season ( same opening and ending ) , but the opening still impact on me till now .

Animation:
The same as always, the normal steins gate animation with the same animation

Mo dao zu shi, Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, The Founder of Diabolism, The Founder of Evil Magic or 墨香铜臭 is a donghua ( Chinese animation ) adapted from a Chinese novel with the same name ( and have manhua as well )
For me this animation is a point of revolution in the Chinese animation ( I'm not joking )

The story is simply about the cultivation world, In this world there are cultivation sects ruled by prominent clans ( Jiang - Lan - Jin ... - Nie ), the cultivation generally is a Chinese folklore about purging ( purify ) evil souls or spirits who can't rest in peace .

The protagonist is a reincarnated person who was feared by the whole cultivation world by his dark cultivation named Wei WuXian, seeking revenge for the one who sacrificed his body for Wei, Wei WuXian start his second life, but after that he face a lot of crisis.

The story for me is one of best XianXia stories ( about cultivation ), There is a big character development your gonna notice in the whole anime.
The animation is perfect, the backgrounds are a flawless work of art, the movements of the animation are flexible, a good combination between the hand drawing and the cg .

For me I find the biggest studios mistakes are :
- Changing the timeline of the story, you're gonna notice in the second episode, there is a return to the back in the end of the episode, which will continue for the whole 10 actual episodes, in the novel the past of the protagonist is represented in flashbacks from time to other, so that make some difficulties for the audience to understand the plot .
- There are some parts also changed from the main story, which can make a little difference between the animation and the main story.

So for me :
Story : 10/10 , As I have explained before , a cultivation story with good plot + futuristic bl between the protagonists, makes this story evolved for other XinXia stories, also the evenness are good relied, there is a good work in the story

Characters : 10/10 There is a brand new characters development in this story, totally different from others animations, which remains for me favorable

Sounds : 8/10, for some, you are going to find the voices ( Chinese ) unbearable , but after some some time it's gonna be normal, as for the songs, there is good work on it, some songs are quite good, for me the opening was the great deal .

Art : 10/10, for this animation, the combination between the cg ( no shity japanese cg ) and hand draw is flawless - perfect - fascinating - admirable, to some points your gonna find backrounds somehow realistic .

Overall enjoyment : 10/10, for me as fan of onmyouji ( japanese exorcism ) and cultivation, the enjoyment is reaching it climax, including drama, comedy, historical ( my favorite genre ), all I could say its peace of art .

Note : for some who found the story hard to understand and have passion to read novels, I recommand immediately to read it, the novel is in a total different league from the animation .

The story in general has a relation with hockey
The protagonist named Amano Akira is decedent from family who owns a shrine ( his father is monk ) , and that family believes they are cursed by ice , so the ice were involved of the death of many ancestors of the family , the only way to protect yourself from that curse is to train and play hockey , so the main character have practiced this sport from his childhood .

The plot is good for a manga with a sports content although it's just ... a one shot , for me I think it's a good start for manga if it's gonna get a serialization , but the idea of the ice curse is still bad after all .
For the draw , as expected from Amano ( mangaka ) , its good and the style is similar for her previous works .
The characters have a bad development , especially the old guy ( Amano's father ) a typical moronic or silly .
And making the protagonist in his first hockey match overpowered is exaggerated although he trained from his childhood

My review is separated to 2 parts , first contains my review for general plot , and the second my review for the end , so If you haven't read the manga yet , I recommend to take a look first .

Basically this anime is like Kaiji ( survival and psychological ) , No game no life ( game / puzzle ) , btoom ( survival ) in my opinion .
In general , the main character and his friends have an ordinary life , but one day they were transferred to an unknown world , but after that they were involved ... in a game , and after that the secret of this world is revealed , basically if you want to continue residence you need to recharge your visa ( of this word ) by playing games by putting your life in danger , otherwise when your time limit reaches ( visa ends ) you receive your end by a laser from the sky penetrate your head .
What I have liked the most , is the psychological stress is all games , especially the heart one ( psychological game ) , the kill between the players to survive .
Every game , make you feel that the mangaka is genius game player .
The art was perfect , some scenery were unforgettable , there were also a frames like 3d

after reading the end , I was pretty disappointed .
For me , I think that there still nothing clear for the reason why there were transferred to the borderlands , And making all things like there were just dreams make it more and more bad , and also if the meteors were the reason of the transfer , does the borderlands repeat July month as it was said , and how the players gonna continue to transfer to the borderlands without meteors ( if that the real reason ) .
So for me I think it is a big mistake to end the story without revealing all things , I believe it is one of the mangaka duties to explain all mysterious things to the reader

The story isn't something special , the plot is a little borring
the story is about a demon who lives in the westcases of a hight school , someday a new transfert student climbed the westcases without knowing rumors , so he gets tormented and raped by the demon .....
Nothing really is interesting , the one thing that I might liked is the torment ( otherwise all other is super boring )

Its not a ... good yaoi manga , just killing time

Its adorable manga , a different character from other bl manga , who have a scary face that make every one run away from him , he is skilled in art , in his whole life he finds someone who don't run away from him ( a cute senpai ) , the feeling between starts to be developed , but it seems that senpai has a black story ( hi sells his body for money ) ...

the art is adorable , but from chapter ... to another it seems that the faces changes lightly .
characters are so adorable , escpecially if you like the weak uke type

I recommend for any bl beginner to read this manga
