Hitorijime My Hero

Both of these Shounen Ai anime have a high school setting and there are instances of power imbalances in the relationships they feature. Perhaps Doukyuusei is a more refined portrayal of a coming-of-age high school romance, whereas Hitorijime My Hero takes on the more humorous and cliche approach. They both tackle the same type of story in different ways.

Both of these are shorts that revolve around a specific place/item. They both focus on the passage of time and the main character's shifting relationship with this particular item/space. Although their art styles are vastly different, their respective atmospheres are quite similar and feel somewhat nostalgic.

Beastars

On the surface, these two anime could not be more different from each other. However, even though the animation style and premise of Shinsekai Yori is quite different to Beastars, I think both of these shows explore similar themes in similar ways. They both look at fictional societies that have clear parallels with our own. These societies are presented to us and examined through a cast of young characters that grow and mature through the course of the show. Viewing these fictional and mysterious societies through this lens allows for nuanced themes to be developed. Themes like finding one's own identity, navigating a supposedly 'equal' or 'utopian' society, finding your humanity, and coming to terms with your own strength (or lack thereof) are just some of the themes that both of these anime explore in their own unique ways.
