Ok, Uta no Prince Sama gets a lot of hate. I will admit it looks a whole lot like a reverse harem anime, and at some points it even begins to feel like one, but if that's all you see in it then you're missing the point completely. Uta no Price Sama is about 7 teens chasing their dreams in today's harsh world of record deals and mega-hits. It's about how the people who make music really captivate souls and create dreams. And in the end, it nails exactly what it was trying for. And for that reason, it is one of my all time
...
favorite anime. But hey~ cute guys and great music helps a little too :)
Story: Well, I'm not going to lie, Uta no Prince Sama gets off track sometimes. They spend a bit too much time explaining the characters then I would've liked, but it turned out to be a bit necessary to the plot, so that's ok I guess. I think the side plots, no matter how useless at times, give the show part of it's charm. In the middle of the show, it starts to feel like it's going nowhere for a mere millisecond, but suddenly by the last few episodes everything clicks into place and the plot is heartbeat by heartbeat perfection. Looking at it all together, the plot managed to take this show in the right direction and managed not to be cheesy, though at times it was evident that plot was the weak point of the show. But it had it's moments, and was all ok in the end, so I give plot an 8/10
Art: The art was absolutely gorgeous! The character designs perfectly accented their personalities, and the backgrounds and scenery were pretty too. They were not at all lazy with the background characters and such, absolutely everything was pretty. I feel like if the art was any different, the show would lose some of it's appeal. It just wouldn't be the same. That's saying a lot. And don't think I'm just saying this cuz I only watched it because of the hot guys XD 10/10
Sound: I came into the show half expecting all of the music to be sub-par the actual content, I mean it's an anime, it's not like they're going to spend all the time writing songs, right? But the music surprised me by being heartfelt and catchy, music that doesn't even just supplement the show fantastically, even define it to some extent (which it does), it's even music I would like to have on my iPod.
The voice actors were fantastic. I usually watch my anime dubbed, but the sub was so great that I couldn't even imagine it in English, especially the singing and the character's music.
THE SINGING! All of the voice actors had great singing voices.
I was overall impressed and delighted with the sound. 10/10
Character: The characters are really the core of the show, more than anything else. They may seem a bit half baked and stereotypical at a glance, but they are all very complex and realistic. I promise! They have great background and are much more than to what meets the eye, while still keeping you interested. They characters are really truly wonderful overall. 10/10
Enjoyment: I was basically a floating happy cloud of rainbow whilst watching this anime. It is always enjoyable, even for someone like me who is bored easily. I almost never took my eyes off the screen, and yes, I do admit to jumping around and dancing to the songs. But you will too, no matter how much you think you will hate it. It hit all the right notes. (bad pun huehuehue) 10/10
Overall, I can sum up Uta no Prince Sama in one scene, from the last episode: (very minor spoilers)
All of the boys hi five Haruka on the way out to the stage, with huge smiles on their faces. Haruka looks on proundly, eyes glistening as they go out. They dance and sing their hearts out with more passion than you could imagine.
In the end, Uta no Prince Sama is amazing show about living your dreams and spreading cheer through the magic of music, And no matter how dumb that sounds, you'll want to hive Haruka anyways and sing your heart out with some hot bishies. What could possibly go wrong tonight?
Overall 9/10
