The first five or so episodes are really cool but then it takes a total nosedive and becomes a political borefest; LOTS OF EXPOSITION, underwhelming and boring.

What could have been a really cool people with powers duking it out to capture dungeons story', quickly devolves into nothing but episodes of people talking for an entire half hour with very little development and seemingly just to waste animation.

The characters are extremely flat especially Sinbad getting robbed of his magical Djinn vessels which is completely stupid when he is supposed to be so extremely magnificent and Powerful. Lots of crying, lots of not believing in yourself ... and feeling sorry for yourself (HOW BORING AND WEAK, I HATE STUFF LIKE THIS). Weak characters make for such a lame show and this show is chocked full of em. Alibaba is the worst, always being traumatized and weak, I wish he would just die.

Other characters of course are always powerful but too scared or weak to actually do anything so it becomes stupid and boring, and other characters aren't developed at all or have no point in even being around...

In fact the more I think about it the more this anime just sucks since I've seen so much and recognized the patterns things get old fast. There's also a lot of jumping around from storyline to storyline which makes for bad story telling in general.

ALL IN ALL I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ANIME. But because of stupid sunken cost fallacy I will be watching S2....Man this damn show had so much potential...so much!!!!

Let's start by getting all the obvious win of this movie in terms of art and sound and whatnot--it's amazing! But unfortuntely for Summer Wars, art and sound do not a movie make.

Going against the 9 and 10 grain of the common persuasion here, I have to say that this movie was a dud when it came to actual purpose. Like someone else mentioned everything is just too damn coincidental--oh hey math genius needs to meet old grandma whose grandson happens to be the best net fighter in the world and whose other grandson yadda yadda yadda connections all over Japan, birthday coming up ... soon, I think these people in their little rural home just so happen to rule Japan from the shadows of the countryside. Everything is just too convenient and contrived that its like something from M. Night Crapalan.

This could have been a good movie but it wore itself thin by trying to incorporate too much, think National Lampoons Summer Vacation X the beginning of Home Alone X everything's alright in the end. Boy gets girl and everyone lives happily ever after. Where was the true conflict? When you sort through everything that went on it wasn't more than 'oh shit rogue AI' and then that turns into the BS satellite and then everything is fine...

Ok its like 4 am and my mind is all over the place. Not a supreme movie but not a stinker. Give it a shot and then watch something like 5cm per second if you want a decent slice of life that's like whoa.

First off, the only school animes I've ever enjoyed were Azumanga Daioh! and Lucky Star. Both had their own unique quirks, in both character and presentation, that made them really enjoyable and drove the plot... As for Hidamari Sketch, I felt as though everything was just trying too hard.

It's as though the writer(s) knew what they were up against when it came to the popularity of Azu and Lucky and just tried to go all out with their adaptation of this series. Sure there were many interesting ways of showing certain emotions and the faux-3D scenes etc. but I felt the character design and emotions ... were too on par with Lucky/Azu. Maybe this series is just trying to find a niche in an already niched up place and thats its true downfall.

I dont even know why I took the effort for this review...all in all I would only recommend this to someone that has never seen the famous two...

Regardless of what's going on this time around, after episode one I am convinced that this FMA is definitely worth the watch. The story seems to take place sometime before the first FMA, but it's really hard to tell.

From what I've gathered it's sticking really closely to the manga this time around. As for the overall awesomeness of the animation, its seriously a 10. The action and the fighting are great and the animation is smooth and amazing.

It's interesting to see the voice of Urahara as Roy Mustang (one of my fav Bleach characters is ROY?! lol) and Ed and Alphonse are the same ... as last time.

So yeah, based on only seeing the first episode its definitely a must watch in my opinion, but this is coming from a hardcore fan of the first Fullmetal Alchemist. ENJOY!

A brilliant and beautiful masterpiece that probes the depths of life and human emotion.

Though the story is takes place over three separate time periods the execution is spot on and very intriguing. There wasn't a moment when I felt that there should be more going on, that is, it moves at the pace of memories. I think it hit closer to home because I had lived a year in Japan and was able to observe the culture and lives of my students--so it just seemed more real to me.

The art/animation is absolutely amazing and very smooth. The style is very enjoyable and never once ... made me feel like it was unreal or deformed like so many anime out today. The contrasts between city and country, night and day, dark and light, were stunning and moving. There is nothing lacking when it comes to realism through the animation.

The characters are developed well and just enough to give a glimpse of the lives they once had, and eventually left behind. Sure its an anime, but the reality that comes through just grabs at ones thoughts and emotions.

The soundtrack was really just perfect for the moods and settings throughout. The last song is what really got me, damn what sad lyrics. Japan is a whole other world, especially when it comes to music and emotion.

Overall, I would have to say that this is by far the best OVA I have ever seen. There will always be fans of action/adventure, mech, comedy, etc. but nothing compares to a down to earth, real life-esque anime. It doesn't have an unrealistic ending and yet still satisfies given the outcome of so many similar things in life. 5 cm per Second is definitely a masterpiece.

This movie did, as someone mentioned in their review, come out of nowhere. I actually learned of it because there was a poster for the dubbed version showing in the US theatres coming in Feb.

Anyhow, the animation is seriously like 10. It's got scenes that make me wish I were there--and not the lame super shiny Miyazaki way that everyone spazzes about. I'm talking things that seem to reach back into the Japanese past and bring scrolls to life sorta animation. It was excellent and I hope to one day own a DVD of this movie so as to see it in its true ... definition glory.

The sound/music was also superb. It was well made and definitely captured the mood of what was going on a lot of the time. Regardless there were also times when the music just took you away and you kinda felt like you were in rural Japan...well for me anyway. The dialogue and voice actors were good and it was interesting to hear Chinese occasionally.

Now come the story and character development...it was lousy. I'm not going to sugar coat anything like I think other people did/do. The characters are lame and just too mysterious to care about. The little boy is just in the way and seems like a little bitch and loves his dog too much. Even the main character Nanashi is poorly developed to the point where all I cared about was him fighting the next person. So, all in all, every character is pretty much flat, static, and waaaay under/poorly developed. It follows that the story is pretty bad too. Very cliche and seriously stupid (SPOILER: Boy gets kidnapped, Nanashi must rescue, the end.) I mean come on, its so damn lame that I could have written the entire plot on a napkin (which is what they must have done).

Overall + enjoyment was a 5 because though I really loved the art work and music, the story crept along and never really gave me anything to care about minus the gruesome fight scenes/sequences. I would recommend just watching Samurai 7 or even Basalisk than waste your time/money on this feature...unless of course you admire the animation or some other aspect of the work. So yeah...a winner is you!

First off, let me start by saying that I am a huge Yu-gi-oh! fan. So much so that I once played the game and owned cards from Japan before the US dub had even been a twinkle in WBs broadcasting eye. Also, Ive watched countless unreleased episodes on YT from the original series.....with that....comes the review.

Ok, so, from what Ive gathered about 5Ds is that the new way to duel is on stupid motor bikes, on a track, and each player has their LP, deck, "speed counter" and all that jazz on their bike's dashboard. The top dueler is the leader and the lower ranked ... is the follower/pursuer. There are entirely new monsters and abilities and summonings etc. Kaiba is either dead or became a bigger loser than he already was and Yugi is probably off in ancient Egypt getting Pharaohed by Yami-Yugi...XD

The new gimmicks that whomever has added has totally made this franchise a complete loss in my opinion. Everything has had its lame factor multiplied by like 100 bajillion and I cannot foresee them making Duel Monsters ever worse, but this is Japan were talking about, they can make Hello Kitty! vibrators so...yeah...

The animation is somewhat ok, the 3d cg cut scenes are awful and look like a kid made them using an 8bit prog with some extra add-ons...The story is obviously stupid since we know the underdog will win and unsurprisingly beat the king. If there was crying I forget but most likely someone somewhere was crying in this lame excuse for an OVA. The entire OVA in itself is nothing more than one duel and I take it that knowing a lot of the back-story and cards would help to raise the enjoyment factor. The constant comments from the main characters peanut gallery was also annoying and stupid.

Overall, I can't see this gaining any attention except by little kids that don't know any better or complete Yugi-losers that think that changing everything and adding stupid gimmicks to something will make it better *coughMTGcough*. I only watched this steaming pile because I was bored and wondered what had become of my beloved Duel Monsters; I regret having that curiosity, sadly.

Much like berryful I had no idea about this series going into it, manga or anime-wise. I had seen some Tsubasa stuff in Animate when I lived in Japan and had figured that I should watch it someday...

I happened to pick up the first 3 DVDs from my library and what I learned about this anime is that its totally not worth the time. I'm not sure what year this was anime-converted from manga but the way they did the anime compared to the manga (from what I've read) was the real killer.

The first few episodes seem interesting, character presentation and all, and then ... suddenly were thrown into the storyline. Suddenly were introduced to four different worlds and three new characters (one of which is nameless and seems to be the main antagonist, monocle and beard and all).

The show then goes into a pokemon-esque/duel monsters/digimon etc world where characters are completely devoid of development. Suddenly the seemingly wussy main character becomes a formidable fighter and all other characters throw in their two cents etc. etc.

I don't know if it's because I watched processed shows from FUNIMATION (you suck) but the music in this was horrible. Simply awful. Who decides to hire wailing singers in like every movie and drama? The music in general is awful! It never matched the mood in the later episodes and came at completely random moments. The key frames are also horrible, and like another review mentioned, we sometimes get a characters face for 2 minutes XD. The story is also lame as hell once you get into it more and more and reminds me of a very crappy copy of Inu Yasha minus the intrigue of the characters and their situation. Instead we get flat one dimensional characters, crap music, though great animation, and a super lame lets collect and travel the world(s) story.

Overall I would not at all recommend this particular series. I know there are far better out there (though not entirely similar Kou Kara Maoh comes to mind). If you're wondering why the hell did Misc watch 11 episodes, well, DVD is more enjoyable than sitting in front of the laptop for however many hours I wasted XD.
