Recently we have seen since really interesting football/soccer manga....r example- Ao Ashi, Blue Lock, Be blues, Giant killing.
There are a few average manga too.
Catenaccio here is a very good manga and might be among the best, if it keeps up the story.
Very realistic, goes into the details of the sport and shows you how the youth academies and the lower leagues function.
This story is about Yataro Araki, a Japanese highschooler who is dedicated to football. By dedicated I mean fully dedicated!! He wakes up early to warm up, practises alone, with teammates. Playes matches, cools down. While his body rests, he reads up about tactics
...
and watches videos. He also invests the time to learn to speak Italian, which might come in handy when he goes to Europe to pursue his dream of becoming the greatest player. As he sleeps, he probably dreams football too.
He is not exceptionally talented, he is just above average in athleticism. But he has an unwavering spirit, a desire to win at all costs. That is his USP.
By nature, Araki isn't very likeable, he is a one dimensional guy with only football in his mind. Still he is so much in love with the story you can't help but cheer for him.
This is an amazing sports manga, a very fast read. Realistic but has enough drama and optimism to keep you reading.
Highly recommended!

This manga has a hero who has all the qualities that attract women to men:
1. Loves the girl with true loyalty
2. Is really nice, fun to be around, but can get angry when he needs to protect the girl
3. When he gets angry, only the girl can control / "tame" him
4. Looks above average, strong
5. Rich guy
Maybe I'm overthinking this, haha. I just saw a video of Jordan Peterson where he laid out these characteristics that attract women.
And here, in this manga we see these characteristics quite clearly. It is a shoujo, of course the mangaka wants to create a "dreamy hero".
I feel these
...
qualities are only enough for initial attraction. For long lasting love you'll need kindness, respect, trust, understanding, ability to have fun and relax around each other. And many other things.
I really enjoyed reading the manga because it felt so innocent, cute and simple. The characters are lively, loveable, and don't feel forced or artificial.
Great short romantic light read. Highly recommended. 8/10

Teasing Master Takagi-san is a fun, episodic, light manga.
the first time I started reading it, I dropped it. That's because I wanted a thriller, intense plot based manga.... something like Monster or Homunculus. This manga did not fulfill that requirement.
Then I picked it up again, wanting to have a light read.....it was exam time. I wanted something with short, fun chapters. Interesting enough to enjoy, but short enough to prevent binging. And I struck gold. This manga is gold for this purpose.
No regrets.
Story 7/10
A boy and a girl go to school, they live nearby, so walk together. They enjoy each others' company, and
...
play pranks. That's the plot. So simple, right?
And it works really well. The story is sweet, cute, and we see them growing from young kids who hate the opposite gender to teens who are curious. Innocent love.
No highschool drama----I'm so glad about this. No villains, just a wholesome love/friendship story.
Characters 9/10
Nishikata is the boy who keeps losing the pranks to the teasing master--Takagi-san. Both these guys are lovable. They are kind, fun, mischievious. And we see them grow. Towards the later chapters I felt nostalgic, re-read from the start.
High re-readablity. And you might catch hints that you missed on the first read.
All the charcters are amazing.
Art 8/10
This is the right kind of art for such a fun light manga. No complaints.
And it becomes much better towards the later chapters.
Overall 8/10
This is a wholesome, beautiful episodic manga. One that I'll always remember. Less for the plot, and more for the characters. A thought that I had many times, while reading this manga was---the teasing master is not Takagi-san, it is the mangaka. He is the one who keeps making us feel excited again and again when Nishikata is about to win, and the BOOM---Takagi wins. And we(the readers) are the ones being teased. And is is always unexpected and fun. I always wonder how long can he do this before it becomes repetitive. So far, this manga has always exceeded my expectations.
Highly recommemded.

Lately I have read a lot of manga about the Sengoku period of Japan, more specifically about Oda Nobunaga. So when I saw this title I decided that I must read it.
This manga has a simple plot— What if Nobunaga did not die at Honnoji temple fire? What would he do if he survived? An interesting concept, but poorly executed. I read 15 chapters, but couldn’t figure out what was happening.
There are spoilers ahead, be careful.§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§§

Story. 5/10
This is a work of historical fiction. Fiction. But still, it is reasonable to expect that people will act similarly to their historical records. In this story Nobunaga acts like a madman. Had he survived the betrayal by Mitsuhide, he would’ve killed Mitsuhide and the others who plotted against him. He would’ve given serious thought to nation building, and also decided his successor.
But, what does he do instead—— he runs away to a random village, steals chicken, then comes back to Hideyoshi where he would’ve been killed, but gets protected by plot armour. He then hires pirates and sends them to Korea, China, Siam, India. Why would they even listen to him? They are pirates. But that’s how this manga goes.
The story is full of names like Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Shibata Katsui, Maeda Toshii, Akechi Mitsuhide, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Lord Cabral, etc. And these are just the famous guys. Believe me, there are dozens of names in each chapter, and it gets really confusing, really fast.
Okay, so now Nobunaga decides he will take part in a war between Shibata Katsui and Hideyoshi.
Why??????
He doesn’t want to be King anymore. If only he stands up and names Hideyoshi as his successor, automatically his goal is achieved. But no, he allows half of his own loyal army to fight the other half. A brutal, unnnecesary civil war.
At one point Shibata sees him, and surrenders immediately, saying “My lord, you are alive? Why are we fighting then? What is the purpose of this war?” What does Nobunaga say? He says, “Join me in death.” And kills his loyal follower.
And every chapter this nonsense continues. In one chapter Nobunaga plots the murder of his own son, saying that “It will strengthen Hideyoshi’s control” wtf.
Art. 7/10
The art is old style, I personally have no problem with that. Art style is similar to Ashita no Joe.
Characters. 4/10
Unbelievable characters. I mean it literally. NOBODY talks like this, thinks like this. The characters make no sense. All these historical figures, such great opportunity. Wasted.
Nobunaga is drawn badly here, just to show his impulsiveness, he is shown as a crazy fool. He shows off his great leadership in killing his own soldiers. Starts a civil war to show off. That makes no sense.
Overall. 5/10
I like historical fiction and that’s why I gave this manga a shot. Turns out, great idea, wasted opportunity.
Reading this manga was confusing to say the least. Not fun. I really really wanted to enjoy this. Couldn’t do it.
Nor recommended.

This is a simple story of an old man living alone in countryside Japan, named Hitomari Yamano. He was a Matagi (mountain hunter), who used to primarily hunt bears.
Now he is old, his children live away in Tokyo, and recently his wife died.
What to do now?
He found an old video game controller for a game called “Gamer’s Tribe”. He starts playing it, and soon excels at the game. Thanks to his hunting skills.
This is the main plot, a simple fast paced story about an old man playing video game.
Story 7/10
The story is not very original. It is another manga
...
about gaming. But still, it is fun to read. I enjoyed the beginning a lot, but in the later stages it becomes a little far-fetched. I started to get strong shonen vibes, only kids would believe this stuff. So be prepared for that.
Not a deep manga.
Art. 7/10
I liked the art, no complaints. I especially liked the style of showing the in-game characters. The action scenes are drawn very well, readers will be able to enjoy the fights.
Characters. 5/10
So far the only character that I like is the MC......the old guy. Other characters have not been drawn well. They seem superficial. I don’t want to give spoilers, but some guys change their entire personality within the span of 2 chapters. Without reason! For this reason I considered dropping this manga. But the story is fast so I kept on reading anyway.
Overall. 7/10
I enjoyed reading this manga so far. Don’t keep any big expectations, this is a fast, simple shonen. Not realistic. Just for fun. No deep plot.
No romance. Good action, little comedy. Not a must-read, but you can give it a shot if you want a light read!

Hell Dogs is a manga about police and yakuza.
A policeman has infiltrated into the yakuza world and has to keep killing in order to protect his cover.
How long can he do this? If he is doing this stuff daily, isn’t he a yakuza already?
The policeman’s name is Kanetaka— he is smart and strong. This much plot is simple enough, but as you start reading you’ll find more twists and turns in the story.
So far I’ve read only 7chapters that were available, but I really enjoyed it. Had more chapters been released I think this manga would have been much more popular.
Read this if you want an
...
action thriller, fast paced manga about yakuza and questionable ethics.
It is pretty dark and gory. From the same mangaka who made Gantz.

Have you read the manga called Beck? The manga about kids who started a music boy-band. This manga has similar chill vibes, and similar art.
This a the story of Akio — a kid who saw a Japanese guy skating in a park. This Japanese guy had dreads!! But what was more intriguing to Akio was that this guy appeared to be floating!!
At that moment Akio knew he wanted to try out this strange activity.
The guy with dreads showed him the basics, and that’s how Akio’s journey started in the world of skating. He later meet some fellow skaters, and improves his skills despite opposition
...
by his family.
So far I’ve only read 9 chapters, that I could find. The manga stopped at 18chapters. So it is a short read. I will read the read of the chapters as soon as I can. This is a fun manga, and I learnt a lot about skating too.
Read this if you’d like to learn about skating and are looking for a chill, light, short manga.
Thank you for reading!

Blue Giant is an amazing manga about a guy called Dai Miyamoto who falls in love with playing the saxophone. He thinks of jazz every waking moment. He practices as much as he can, and then some.
The first volume had 80 chapters that covered his beginnings from a highschool kid to a college aged kid who worked part time jobs in Tokyo, while also polishing his sax skills. At the end of the manga he decides to leave Japan to get more exposure.
Blue Giant Supreme is the continuation of the story. Make sure you read the first part before you start this sequel.
This manga
...
starts with Dai going to Germany. He doesn’t speak the language, doesn’t have much savings. But he has his talent, determination and confidence. He is really courageous, doing what needs to be done to get better.
The story, art, characters, the whole feel is as amazing as the first part. 9/10 for me.
Highly recommended. So far only 18 chapters are available online, but the mangaka has already finished this manga with 83 chapters. I’m waiting for more releases. And this manga is worth the wait.

This is the 3rd part of the Breaker series. It continues exactly from where the 2nd part left off a few years ago. By now many people may have forgotten the hype that Breaker 2 had. But this manga keeps up the good work.
The story continues in full colour, as a webtoon. Art is top notch as always, colour makes things even better. It was fun seeing the old characters— Elders of Sunwoo, Shioon, Mamoongi, Jinni, etc. nostalgic.
I’ve seen some bad reviews here, but please don’t take them seriously. The starting is really slow and little boring as we are introduced to a new
...
character— Ha Jae. We don’t love him, respect him....we don’t even care if he lives or dies. So many readers got frustrated as to why he is getting so much screen time. After a few chapters he’ll go back to being a side character, don’t worry. He’s just here to remind us of the huge gap between a normal human and a murim-in. And he will be helpful from time to time. He is rescued the same way Shioon was rescued by the 9arts dragon. At that time, many years ago......reading the first few chapters of the manga I used to be frustrated.....why is such a great martial artist spending time on a bullied kid. And now that kid has grown to be a cornerstone of the Murim world. Loved the writing, the character development that Lee Shioon got.
Ha Jae might grow to be a good character too. But enough about him. The real focus is on recovery of Shioon’s skills, and the return of The 9 arts Dragon. That will be epic.
I’ve read 35 chapters so far, and I have no regrets. Just go for it, if you loved the first 2 parts, then you’ll definitely love this.

The Girl from class is a very relatable and realistic manhwa. It is the story of a college boy who gets a crush on the girl who sits next to him, in the class.
It has minimalistic art, story moves fast, short(28 chapters only), and requires you to pay attention. It is a smart story.
Writing a review here seems challenging because this story might get spoiled.
Mainly we get to see this guy go through his college days, meet friends, try to talk to the girl he likes and also handle a part time job. Through this we
...
see him grow from a naive, kind kid who lacks self-awareness to a less naive kid, who is still kind but also self aware. There is some good character growth in the MC. So this manhwa fits the tag of “coming of the age” manhwa.
There are almost no backgrounds, kinda like About Death. But still it doesn’t look empty. Most importantly, you will always recognise the various characters by their clothes, hairstyle, and the way they act. No confusion.
One important thing—— often the author doesn’t explain what is going on. There were times when I had to flip back a few pages, or stop to digest what just happened. So you can’t skip pages. This is a pro for the people who want an engaging read, where the author respects the audience enough to leave blanks.
And this is a con for the readers who want a light, relaxing read where they can pick and drop the manga any time....even skip a few pages and it won’t matter.
The ending was really mature, and understandable. I feel it truly tied together the feel of this manhwa.
I highly recommend you to read this manhwa, especially if you want a short, engaging read.
Thank you!
