Elemental Gelade was a fun journey to watch, this show has many unique concepts and story elements which will keep you engaged for most of the show.
Elemental Gelade is about a guy named Coud, a pirate of the sky in a world called Guardia who discovers a mysterious girl within a compartment of his ship. This isn't just a normal girl as she is what is called an "Edel Raid." These Edel Raids possess a jewel and the ability to allow the user a unique power that is mainly used to aid in battle and combat. The show really takes you on a journey throughout
...
the mysterious world of Guardia and is a fun show to watch and unfold.
Story - 7
This story follows the journey of a sky pirate named Coud and his adventure with his newly found Edel Raid that goes by the name of "Reverie, Metherlence" more commonly referred to as "Ren." Their adventure is about going to the land of gold called the Edel Garden within the far, far reaches of the sky, all the way, far up in the clouds where Ren desires to go.
As they pursue this journey they meet up with many people, many people, including people from the Edel Raid Protection Agency who attempt to purchase this newly discovered Edel Raid for a great sum of money, though Coud refuses, these people join his journey and fight alongside him to reach the special land they had been searching for.
There are many people who want to gain these mysterious Edel Raid powers that Reverie possesses, solely for themselves, as she is a way rarer type of Edel Raid, rarer than most of the other ones. And some of these people are willing to fight battles to gain these special powers and do anything it takes to get a hold of Ren. The story is a good overall adventure story which is great for anybody who wants to experience a nice journey of action and romance.
Art - 6
The art and animation featured in this show were alright for 2005 standards. The art looked decently clean for the time this show was released. The animation was also alright and didn't look too bad (most of the time.) The scenery had a decent amount of detail, displaying what they were supposed to with fair amounts of detail here and there.
The character designs were pretty original and decent looking, though there definitely could've been a little more detail added to some of the characters in this show. Otherwise the show had decent looking art for 2005 and so was the animation which could look a bit odd at times but was still pretty decent.
Sound - 6
The sound in this show was decent although basic. The opening and ending songs were generally good songs but not very memorable and rather forgettable after I had finished this show. The background music was honestly just a little basic, with nothing in the background music I would personally re-listen to.
The voice acting was also decent and it seemed like they did a good job for voice acting these characters, as it seemed like they chose voice actors that really suited the personalities of the characters in this show. The music and voice acting featured in this show seemed to be alright and slightly above average.
Character - 7
Characters in this show were mostly well written. The main character, Coud, was a cool character who had genuine feelings for Ren and wanted to defend her. Ren herself was a rather calm character who always stood with Coud and aided Coud in countless battles which took place over their journey. The three other characters in their team were also helpful at fighting and attacking any enemies that came their way, and they were also funny sometimes.
Enjoyment - 7
This show was pretty enjoyable and a fun watch. While there may have been things the show could have improved on, the show managed to display a fun little adventure that is great for fans of action and romance genres of anime. The concept of Edel Raids among other things in this show were pretty interesting and are worth watching the show for.
Overall - 7
Overall I liked the story. The show had a good concept and storyline with a likeable cast of characters. This was a good watch and experience and I feel like it was really worth the watch.

Kanon (2002) is an anime that tells a great story surrounding our main character, Aizawa, Yuuichi going back to a cold little northern town with his aunt and cousin where he used to visit frequently. The story is pretty well done as well as the music aspect of the show, though I can't really say the same thing about the character designs...
Story - 8
The story in this show is a beautiful yet sad one. It tells the tale of Aizawa Yuuichi and his new life living in a wintry small town up in the north. The story mainly revolves around our main character making new
...
friends in the school he now goes to, and meeting old friends from his past visits to the town as well. He makes new experiences with the many unique people around town, and also builds stronger relationships with the friends he had in the past.
The show does an excellent job at telling a story. It is excellent at making you feel many different emotions whether it be amused by the funny moments in the show or sad from all the really sad moments that happen in the show. The show could really be funny or sad sometimes and that's what made it really good. It even had some supernatural things which were cool to watch. Now, this show isn't a complete masterpiece but it does get the job done in about 13 episodes, and if you want a sad but short anime to watch, this might be for you.
Art - 4
I'm going to be completely honest here, the character designs were terrible and I did not like them. There wasn't really anything wrong with the backgrounds or scenery in the anime since they actually looked kind of good but the character designs were unfortunately the worst part of the show. The characters have these gigantic chins, most of the characters having humongous looking eyes to go along with it. I did eventually get used to these odd character designs and didn't find them that weird looking anymore but they are still not good designs.
As for the backgrounds and scenery, it actually looked fairly decent and had a fair amount of detail added to all the winter scenery which made the actual show look nicer. But other than that the character designs were not very good to say the least.
Sound - 8
The sound was another great part of the show. The background music delivered a very pleasant yet dreamlike atmosphere to the show and made this show feel very cozy to watch. The Opening seemed like a well composed song consisting of various different instruments like the violin and added to the rather cozy atmosphere of the show. The ending was another pleasant and soft song that felt about right at the end of each episode. And finally the voice acting was also really good and I feel like the voice actors chosen for this show were a nice fit with the characters they were playing.
Character - 7
The characters were also pretty good in this show, although there was only a length of 13 episodes to develop all the different characters in this show, they managed to develop the characters surprisingly well. Yuuichi was a cool and funny main character who was honestly a pretty fun main character for this show and knew when to be either silly or serious. As for the other characters, almost all of them had unique traits to differentiate them. You had many characters ranging from the comic relief character, to a girl with supernatural powers, to a cute girl from Yuuichi's childhood. All of these characters were pretty likeable except for maybe that one guy "Kuze" who was an insufferable piece of garbage to everyone.
Enjoyment - 8
The show was a very enjoyable experience with funny and sad moments to keep you entertained while watching. It has a great story and cast of characters as well as a great wintry and dreamlike atmosphere. Sure, the character designs did look kind of odd but that didn't stop me from enjoying Kanon (2002). If you want an anime that is sad with only 13 episodes and don't care too much about character designs this show may be for you.
Overall - 7
Overall, I liked this show. It was an overall nice and cozy experience and definitely worth watching. It could've improved on some stuff but it was a nice journey anyways.

I wanted to like this anime. It looked pretty interesting at first, but instead it did the exact opposite of interesting me and put me to sleep.
Story - 4
The story was honestly pretty interesting at first. You have this girl Honoka who travels around a desert in some kind of tank. She meets a bunch of people along this journey and also happens to possess a third eye. Only problem is that the story goes absolutely nowhere for what is probably half of the series.
Almost every episode is some boring dialogue nobody wants to hear, or a basic fight with no build up or hype.
I
...
would’ve enjoyed this show if it weren’t for the uninteresting and repetitive dialogue for about half of the series, if it weren’t for that I could’ve actually had a fun time watching this.
It actually then picks up the pace near the end but delivers a pretty boring and forgettable experience at most.
Art - 5
The art and animation were alright for 2006. Just really bland though. They didn’t really do much to make the show look that good.
They did an alright job on the actual animation. But did nothing to make the show look visually appealing with lighting, backgrounds or anything.
It has a boring and generic art style with not much character at all in the art.
This show would also have the tendency to add some ugly looking CG and some stock photo looking images as the sky in some parts. Overall though, it has really bland and lazy art but not ugly by any means.
Sound - 6
The sound in this show was good, just forgettable.
The opening and ending were a tad bit good but definitely forgettable and not the kind of song you would listen to on repeat. The voice acting was good and they did a good job at fulfilling their roles.
Now the background music on the other hand was as bland as the show. Sometimes there would even be none. Paired with the boring, bland feel of the show and it would be extremely boring to watch and get through.
Character - 3
The characters were definitely the worst part of the show. That really sounds harsh but they’re some of the most cardboard cutout characters I've ever seen in an anime.
They all provided some of the most boring dialogue. And it was hard to care for most characters when they would barely do anything interesting. They all seem to do the same things over and over again until it’s dry. You never see much character development in this show even when they try to develop them.
They’ll always be dry characters and I did not feel any attachment to them whatsoever.
Enjoyment - 3
It’s safe to say I did not enjoy this series that much. It has bland uninteresting dialogue for most of the time you are watching the show. Generic fights with absolutely nothing special about any of them. No buildup to anything, no enjoyment for half of the series and characters drier than the desert they journey through.
I know some people could enjoy this show if you can handle repetitive actions and dialogue. But this show just isn’t for me, sorry.

This anime is honestly one of the most boring things I've ever watched. It has barely any redeeming qualities, has too much useless, uninteresting dialogue and only has a small and I mean really small amount of good moments.
Story - 3
Yeah the story definitely isn’t the greatest thing ever told. The story is basically just about transforming this dragon Azalie back into their original form with a lot of magic and sorcery stuff. But this seems to be the only focus of the show, Rushing all the side stories from the 90s original anime. Then proceeding to drag the main story on for the whole
...
show where it becomes uninteresting and bland after being shown the same stuff over and over.
Now maybe if there was some unique stuff happening every episode. Maybe if the episodes were something like a plot twist episode followed by a villain’s backstory episode or something it would be entertaining enough. However all that happens in this show is shooting a beam of light at an enemy and now the enemy is defeated. Rinse and repeat it’s the same thing almost every episode.
Art - 5
The art and animation isn’t really that bad actually. Thing is this new artstyle does not fit the show that much. Now all the characters have this odd modern design that still looks dated. And like I said about the fights earlier in the review they definitely don’t have the most impressive animation either. The show just looks pretty bland now with not much personality. It isn't bad but it really does not fit how epic looking the show used to be.
Sound - 5
Again the sound isn’t that bad, it just doesn’t fit the show that much. The opening sounded alright and fit the show a little bit. The ending didn’t really fit the show though. There’s also a lot more wrong with the sound. Some of the voice acting sounds off with some of the characters. Same with the background music which also happens to play at the wrong time like some techno rave music in the middle of some serious moment or something.
Character - 2
The characters in the show got barely any development or basically anything during the entire show. You really did not care for any of them unlike the original. In this show the characters are just here and don’t really do much. I feel like in this show they only focus on the main character Orphen too much and push all the side characters to the side. And even then you still don’t care about the protagonist because when there’s not much interaction with other characters, no characters really feel interesting.
You didn’t really hate the characters with a burning passion. Instead you just sat there and watched the characters do this and that with no character development or interactions at all.
It was just boring when there’s only one character the show focuses on instead of a whole cast of characters to love.
Enjoyment - 2
I don’t really see how anybody would like this anime that much. Or not get bored of it after like 3 episodes. It’s a bland and boring remake of a decent fantasy anime. There isn’t much reason to watch this unless you have absolutely nothing to watch. It isn’t a good remake or a standalone anime. It also isn’t a good fantasy anime and there is an abundance of actually good fantasy anime to watch instead of this.
Overall this show is really uninteresting. There is nothing to keep you hooked with barely any variety and really bland characters. I don’t hate this show with a burning passion. However it is a terrible remake and a really boring fantasy anime with so much other anime to watch. It doesn’t provide any entertainment and you’re better off watching paint dry or counting every single pixel on your TV because this is not worth watching.

This anime is a combination of being amazing and absolutely terrible at the same time.
Story - 3
This anime sure has a crazy as hell story. Basically there’s this angel from the future named Dokuro trying to assassinate some kid named Sakura who will grow up to commit a bunch of crimes. So Dokuro absolutely obliterates the kid with a metal bat into an explosion of blood probably 50 times an episode, while still reviving him with some kind of magical spell thing. And then beating him to death again and again. Also with some more nonsense happening when Dokuro isn’t beating Sakura with a metal
...
bat. So yeah the story is complete nonsense but it’s funny nonsense.
Art - 6
The art and animation honestly isn’t that bad. I mean it looks pretty cute when there’s not blood flying all over the place or some other insane stuff happening. It honestly looked completely fine for 2005. The animation wasn’t smooth but it wasn’t that choppy either. There’s really not much I can say about the art and animation. It’s alright for 2005.
Sound - 6
The sound for the show was also fine. The opening for this show is pretty iconic and definitely a memorable one. The ending isn’t so iconic but it’s alright and I don’t mind it. I didn’t really notice the background music in this show either. The voice acting was alright and the sound effects were too. Honestly none of the sound in this show is that memorable besides that iconic opening.
Character - 5
The characters in this show were obviously not that good for a show about doing complete nonsense. Dokuro just did a bunch of crazy stupid stuff and then acted all cute like nothing happened. Sakura was just kind of there for Dokuro to completely destroy. All the other characters were just as crazy making this show stupid but extremely funny.
Enjoyment - 5
I mean this show is really stupid and complete nonsense but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy it. The show was just a load of entertainment and funny nonsense packed into 4 episodes. Which means the show has constant entertainment being thrown at you to make the 4 episodes all worth it. The whole point of this show was just to do the most nonsensical, insane stuff in 4 episodes and it did deliver. This show is definitely memorable and definitely worth a watch if you just want some entertainment and constant laughter.
Overall I wouldn’t recommend it to most actual normal people but if you do have a stupid sense of humour like me you’ll have a blast!

Madlax is honestly a pretty cool anime. It’s got some really cool gunfights and really has quite a bit of emotion. The anime was slow paced but still able to entertain you even with the slow pacing.
Story - 8
The story in this show was really good and I really liked it. You have this girl named Madlax who’s extremely good with guns and another random girl named Margaret. The show swaps between both of them and you get to see both sides of the story. This show is slow paced. It’s pretty dialogue heavy but the dialogue is actually surprisingly interesting. There’s also some absolutely
...
awesome fights and chases which are absolutely great.
Now the main thing keeping this story away from greatness is some of the explaining. I mostly understood the story, I paid attention, though it could be confusing only at some times though. Especially with a bunch of terms to remember. Other than that one thing the story is great and I loved both the dialogue and fight scenes and is a great example of slow pacing done right.
Art - 7
The art and animation was on par with 2004 standards. It’s good and there are genuinely scenes where the show looks absolutely gorgeous. For the most part though the show looks bland but clean. It honestly could use some more vibrant colours especially on the daytime scenes. Anything during night or sunset looked great. The animation was also not that choppy and pretty smooth. Overall the art and animation looked good but not the best being really bland for 50% of the show.
Sound - 7
I really liked the sound in the show too. I especially loved the opening and background music. The voice acting was pretty good too! The opening was nice and sad, suiting the show. The background music was great and I would like to mention the song Nowhere usually in the gunfight scenes as a great piece of background music. I didn’t really care about the ending though it was mediocre compared to those complete bangers.
Character - 8
The characters were great too. Especially the main character Madlax basically just doing awesome stuff in fights the entire show. Margaret was good too and so were the side characters. Even the supporting characters got a bit of development to where I cared about them. The only characters that didn’t get much development were the villains and the opposing characters though getting barely any screen time.
Enjoyment - 8
Madlax was a pretty good show. It’s slow paced but awesome and could balance out both sad parts and complete awesome parts. It’s not the most memorable thing ever but worth a try if you like awesome gun fights, Sure it’s not for everyone being slow paced and dialogue heavy but it still is interesting during the dialogue and really entertaining during the fights. Overall Madlax is pretty good and I like it.

Story - 7
It’s a decent shounen story. Some kid gains some powers, this time being to turn trash into trees and there’s a whole tournament with everyone fighting to become the next king of the heavenly world. At first it seemed like a regular generic shounen but it really starts to catch on. Everyone has some pretty unique powers that are way different than the generic powers in most shows and gets you hooked to see how the main character Ueki can defeat them.
There’s always something new when watching this show whether it be another fight. Ueki training, gaining new skills or a new character
...
being added to Ueki’s whole team. Sure the dialogue could be kind of corny and this show isn’t the most unique thing in the world except when it comes to powers but all the constant entertainment makes up for it.
Art - 7
The art and animation is fairly good for 2005. It looked solid most of the time but did fall flat sometimes. It could look odd and not really the best sometimes, but other than that it looked good. The animation could also look choppy during some scenes but I didn’t really notice it most of the time. Other than that most of the background looked pretty good and it did have a little bit of improvements in the later episodes.
Sound - 7
The sound in this show was good too. The openings and endings didn’t seem too good to me at first but they did eventually grow on me and I like them quite a bit now. All of them are good but nothing memorable or anything I would listen to. The background music was average but some background songs really stood out sounding really epic during some fights. The voice acting in this show was alright too but didn’t stand out too much.
Character - 8
The characters in this show were pretty good. Every member of the whole team was valuable and there weren’t really any characters in this show that I would call bad. The powers kept all the characters unique and fresh and everybody got a chance to shine. All the opposing characters also got some development with a backstory. The only problem with the characters is that when you have a backstory on every single opposing character it just feels repetitive and not sad anymore. Other than that every character in this show was good in some way.
Enjoyment - 8
I liked this show quite a bit. It has a bunch of stuff to keep you hooked and engaged. Sure it can be a little bit corny the first time you watch it but when you keep watching and seeing how entertaining and good this is you’ll probably be hooked. Overall this show is pretty memorable compared to other standard shounens and is definitely worth a watch.

Kekkaishi was a very good and underrated anime. It’s a unique anime of the shounen genre with unique powers and an overall excellent anime. It was both fun and thought provoking at the same time.
Story - 9
Alright so the story has our main characters Yoshimori and Tokine with the power to create a barrier that’s basically a box, it's called a Kekkai. You can do all sorts of stuff with it. For example if they use the different spells they can kill and destroy anything inside the box, make platforms to stand on, make a double barrier, triple barrier and so on. There are so
...
many possibilities with this Kekkai which makes the show really fun to watch with new spells and stuff being introduced.
Now Yoshimori and Tokine are regular school kids, however the school lays on a unique piece of land that our main characters must protect at all costs. At daytime the school is a regular place but at night time random Ayakashis Just spawn in and now Yoshimori and Tokine have to fight all of them and completely obliterate them with their Kekkais. The story for the most part was pretty good. I feel like the ending was a little rushed, too many characters got introduced at once. But the show was still good otherwise.
Art - 7
The art was perfectly fine for 06’. The show is honestly one of the better animated shows and holds up alright. The art and animation were smooth and everything was good. Sure the Kekkais could look off. But you really got used to it and it didn’t ruin your whole experience.
Overall the art was smooth except for the Kekkais which you got used to anyways.
Sound - 7
The sound in the show was cool too. I mean the songs aren’t really the type i’d listen to but they’re still pretty good. The opening stayed the same for all 52 episodes and suited the show pretty well. Same for all of the endings throughout the show. Voice acting was all pretty good and all the characters had some great voice actors to play the characters. The background music was good too.
Character - 8
The character’s in this show were also good. We’ve got Yoshimori and Tokine, our two main characters. They both got plenty of development throughout the series. Yoshimori could both be a complete goof or completely awesome in fights. Tokine was also a strong character who would assist and sometimes completely win a battle when Yoshimori couldn’t. The villains were good with a few backstories and development.
Enjoyment - 9
The show was just a really fun show to watch and not get bored of. The powers were different from anything I've seen in any show. The show could be silly at times or could really get you thinking on how to defeat some of the villains with the array of different Kekkais to either kill or defend. I’ll always remember this show for being the one show with the cool boxes and stuff. This is a real hidden gem of anime and I think a lot of people should give it a shot even if you end up not liking it.

Busou Renkin was truly the average shonen experience.
There were cool fights, cool weapons, explosions and all you would expect when seeing an anime of this genre. There wasn’t anything unique about it but, it really got the job done and managed to entertain you for a long time without having to think about anything.
Story - 6
The story in this show is alright. The story was simple. Some normal guy named Kazuki is well… A normal kid. But he also gains the power of alchemy and this thing called a Kakugane which forms a weapon to fight with. His being a lance. There’s a bunch
...
of fights to keep you entertained. As well as all the things you’ve seen in a shonen before.
It’s not the most unique thing but it is enough to get you hooked. The fights were pretty good. There’s a good mix of fights and development. The plot twists were also well done and it wasn’t like there was anything bad about the show. You would just watch the show and end up being satisfied with it. The story was just simple to understand.
Art - 7
The art was pretty on par with the standard art and animation from 2006. The fights were well animated and the art looked pretty good as well. It wasn’t stunning but it was good enough. The animation and art also improved throughout the series with a lot of well animated fights and other things nearing the end of the series.
The character designs were pretty unique too. All the characters were pretty distinguishable from each other and unique. The animation on the first few episodes wasn’t the best but it still worked. Overall the animation and art is good and still deserves a 7.
Sound - 7
The sound in this show was also pretty good. Mostly because the opening Makka na Chikai was really good. All the other songs were forgettable but not necessarily bad. The ending songs were good but not the kind of song I would listen to for a long period of time. The background music was also good but you never really noticed it.
Character - 6
All the characters were pretty basic but again did get the job done. None particularly stood out to me but they were all good with no “bad” characters. Kazuki was a basic but good character. He wants to protect his friends and stuff and wants to save the world. All of the characters are basic but there really isn’t anything bad about them either.
Enjoyment - 8
This show was just really entertaining. It was a show where the story was so simple you could basically just sit there, do anything and still understand what’s going on. This made it pretty entertaining. All the fights were well done too which makes it fun to watch. There were plot twists to keep you entertained and it was overall simple to follow.
This show is good for people who want to get into the shonen genre just because it’s so simple and contains everything you’d expect from a shonen. The show delivers, with cool fights and good plot twists and you’re sure to have a good time with this show even if you do find it generic or bland. Overall I liked this show, it’s not unique or anything, but it is entertaining and fun to watch!

Jinki:Extend was a truly weird experience, the show was just all over the place.
One episode you’d be having a great time and get really interested and immersed into the show. The next episode would be an absolutely terrible, confusing mess of an episode that would totally ruin the vibe and I can’t really say if I enjoyed this show or not.
Story - 5
The story begins with a girl named Aoba. She enjoys building model robots and stuff. That is until her grandma randomly dies out of nowhere with no character development.
She then gets kidnapped and sent all the way to Venezuela in a truck somehow.
...
She gets out and finds this giant robot and a random military base. An alarm goes off and now she’s decided she wants to help her kidnappers for some reason and fight another mech.
The show eventually did get better and became an actually solid show later on. You saw Aoba do training and get better at controlling mechs. You saw more characters getting introduced and more development on the characters, and the whole world. Until the second half came around and killed the whole vibe.
Now the story was doing pretty good from this point. During the second half of the show, they introduced their main mission and stuff…
And then 1 episode later. The show just turned into the most confusing anime ever. What actually happened this episode was the creators thought it was a good idea to show scenes from the present and some other scenes from a few years ago. Except they never told you “Hey look, these scenes are from a few years ago.” So now you don’t understand anything that’s happening and nothing in the show makes sense.
They could’ve at least made it have text that said 2 years ago or maybe had the characters appear younger and have a filter or something on to show that it was in the past. But nope! They just mixed that stuff in a normal episode with no explanation and no context. Not only that but they decided to add more fanservice in the second half so now the whole show just went downhill faster than anything.
Art - 4
The art definitely was not this show’s strong point either. For 2005 this show just looked like the blandest thing ever. It wasn’t vibrant or dark either. It was just bland looking and looked like a really good flash animation more than anything. Everything from the background to the characters just looked bland. There was some shading but super barebones. No big improvement as the show went on either
The character designs were alright. They looked cute but the lack of detail or shading or anything made the character designs bland as hell. The animation wasn’t that good either, especially when I can see actual 2 frames per second lasers.
Sound - 6
The sound in this show was alright. The opening song was good but not memorable and the ending song was also pretty good (Any song by angela is pretty good.) Now the background music was as bland as the animation. I didn’t even notice the background music until I skimmed through a few minutes of episodes to find some. The sound for the opening and ending was good, the background music was just bland.
Character - 7
I actually really liked the characters in this show, especially Aoba. During the first half of the show the characters really developed and it probably made up the best part of the show. Even the second half still left me satisfied with the development that the characters got. Aoba really got the most development with all the training and stuff. But so did all the side characters. Most of the characters were likeable and everything was good.

Overall this series was a mixed one. On one hand it could be really fun and interesting. On the other hand, it could be super confusing and unintelligible. I think that you can still have a good time with this show as long as you can keep track of everything and have knowledge of the random past and present scenes. This anime isn’t going to blow you away and it probably will just mess with your mind but it is still worth watching if you don’t mind all that.
