Just because your setting is "realistic" doesn't mean it's worth anything or it's believable. The series fails in every aspect plot, character development or themes.Who greenlit this to be animated? This will make you bleach your eyes just by how atrocious the writing is.Spare yourselves!
First of all the male lead is the blandest loser you could ever see in anime.Merely going through the motions like a robot.Even the show makes fun of it.However the show wants you to take him seriously. No woman in real life would even be caught breathing the same air as him.The female lead is someone you would wonder how inconceivably dumb she can
...
get.How does she even breathe! Some of the illogical things she did like that rock gift makes you question the sanity of the author. Also same thing, she is threated like a serious adult woman by the show. There is no chemistry between them, when things happen you will be wondering how or why.
Let's even go on to the plot .First of all the fake marriage scheme is absurd.Going overseas or getting married is a legit ground to quit.Even the "mystery"doesnt make sense cause we do not know anyone else by that point to even care. The series introduces side characters which might as will be filler. They do talk about marriage, but they handle it without any development of the idea and draw conclusions that are both infantile and dumb even by the standards of kids. Most of the show wastes your time with filler.Later on ,these series will engage in gaslighting certain serious issues making even it even more of an utter fail.
In short, nothing in this series has any proper setup and payoff, or anything believable.

This is one of the better harem anime out there simply because it took some time to consider some notes on belivabiblity.A lot of harem anime suffer form just letting girls just throw themslevs at the lead while being as bland an uninteresting as possible.
100 kanojo while having the absurd premise of having to conquer 100 girls or they will die, like ,does do many things that make it stand out.
Retarou himself is almost the top tier of harem mc.He has those thick eyebrows and a sheer shonen determination to keep the girls happy. He has an identitiy of his own.He does have to still
...
go out of his way to solve some of their issues even if these girls are his soulmates. He isnt passively getting a harem.
Even the girls themselves are interesting on their own merits. The girls themselves have a group dynamic on their own. They are not just passive trophies. They do talk about their own simillarities and differences with each other and from friendships with each other. You could even pausibly see a girl in real life wanting to join the harem just for the fun times they will have with a group of friends. As the anime continues, the situation and the stuff they do for fun will get more over the top.
There is a theme of EVERY GIRL IS BEST GIRL.Every girl has their own special charm, there are also no losers in this harem. The simple premise also means that the plot wont jump the shark in a bad way and will have a definite ending.

Definatley an underrated gem of the season.
.Apart from the CGI battles and prolonged 2nd half due to budget restraints., a lot in what happens in this show stand out from most anime and manga nowadays.
1)A lead thats actually complex and interesting
He isnt some blant self insert gary stu.He doesnt cry or whine a lot to be relatable. He is playboy otaku that can plausibly flirt with girls in real life at the same time is cynical due to being trapped in the reality of his situation. These two sides of him come into play often.
2)Villans with purpose
A lot of anime and manga have villans that are
...
just evil for the sake of it or don't fit with the rest of the story. Here the villans are anti fun conformists vs the passionate half, giving the fight a personal stake and a reason for the audience a reason to care.
3)The harem
They are not just his trophy harem, their passions power the robot and the main character has to help them reslove their issues. Each passion has thematic weight and about the idea of facing reality. So for each girl you get meaningful character arcs.
4)Nothing feels wasted
The show doesnt waste your time, every scene serves the story and moves it along. No unecessarily overused fanservice and downtime.
5)The visuals
I like how the feelings of the girls are expressed in the grandoll with a grand visual montage making you really invested in the background. For a lot of anime the background are merely a means for something to happen
At least i recommend people to give it a shot. Its also seems like an experimental idea to combine twgok/kamnomi with the Super Robot anime

The show is not outstanding but it's not terrible either.
The term wish fulfillment has been perverted by hipsters to refer to anything that isn't Politically correct as bad writing. It is warranted here,however.....
The thing is it doesn't take itself too seriously. This isn't like Kirito who has "teen angst" and "serious problems" while having plothax. The main character uses his OP powers to help as many people as possible. Moreover, he isn't a jerk to steals other guys girlfriends with smug attitute(Asada-San).He does have a good attitude and is a gentlemen, thus the girls in his harem have a meaningful reason to like this guy.
The girls in his
...
harem are meaningfully competent and helpful. This show is also a cheap stab at Konosuba. They don't hate him for no reason and don't sabotage him.
Doesn't have character development ,nor a theme either. The plot is very simple.Watch it to pass time.

An example on how to shoot yourself in the foot.
What ultimately brought this series down was being too convoluted when a much simpler story would have worked much better.
The thing that was worthwhile was watching a strong friendship unfold around this group called the little busters.
A group of one girl and many boys decided to form a baseball club. The leader decided that they needed more members and girls for the sake of their only girl. The main character is refreshingly not trying to be a harem man,but simply expanding his circle of friends.
The show has surprisingly some scenes that would be " ecchi" anywhere else. This anime
...
turns those into serious moments of.trusts.
The main Males are refeshing. The girls and guys willfully go to each other dorms.Cubs the are that close. When things get tough they support and stand up for each other.
Sadly when you find out of the matrix style overarching plot. All of these will be cheapened.......

The anime community is now a hive mind, where only anime with time travel, shock factor and "adult" cool characters are good writing.
Anything sincere has been dismissed as wish fulfillment, for the sake of a "moral high ground".
Mob Psyco is a geniuine threat to the status quo.The first anime in years that did not follow a hive mind.It was in danger of being forgotten, however the sheer might of its quality won people over.
It has a strong theme.Mob, Unlike most anime hero's actually shows how your powers don't necessarily make up the person.
The treatment of male emotions make it stand out. Most anime are just shaming men to "do
...
it for some one else".Individuality is shunned among anime fans.
The animation and artstyle is unique reflecting One's identity. The fight scenes have real detail to the surroundings.
There is a solid overarching plot, unlike most shonens which are unnecessarily long with too many fillers. It has not ended at this point, but there won't be another "100 episodes yolo"
(The Successor I Only Know....)

Konosha was a refreshing anime in terms of the "transported to another world" type.It success lies mostly in using something done in kami Nomi,The Keima-Elsie dynamic.
In Modern Anime the main character is either someone who is flat out worshipped and overpowered,or someone who is a whiny "sympathetic" loser who can do no wrong(no thanks to Evangelion).Relationships in modern anime are black and white.
The thing with Kono Suba is that the relationships aren't absolute. The characters are no Jesus Christ, they will bully, exploit, humiliate each other from time to time, but at the end of the day get along fine.
Our main character Kazuma is an otaku killed and sent to
...
an online game world. He is best described as a bastard(he learnt well from the school of Twgok's Keima). He's blunt, cunning and crude when the situation calls for it.He is not a Gary Stu.He truly earns the roof over his head.A refreshing protagonist.
Aqua. How she gets stuck with him is a joke in of itself. She is best described as a manipulative. The group support. She is a prime reason why being in a harem is not necessarily the best thing ever.
Megumin.EXPLOSION.That's all you need to know.
Darkness.The tanker of the group.Why?........
With this ragtag harem team he has to earn money to survive, defeat the demon king to save the world. The anime unlike others has some real plot progression, and unique humor that does not rely on tired harem tropes to keep the viewer entertained.Every episode is worth watching.
Finally, like I said, this anime has this notions of frankness and that imperfect relationships are meaningful.

It's no masterpiece, but it's no where near as bad as some of the "objective reviewers/critic"would make it out to be.
One good quality for the anime is it's musical concept.Every character has a musical montage to flesh them out,it is a pretty cool idea honestly.
Sadly there is not much else to say about this.
The plot is about finding a special power ,vampires and devils a trying to find it.And the girl is the answer.
The main heroine is a self insert,a girl version of a typical harem lead. She always goes into danger no matter what, just out of curiosity.
Sure the devils in this series have cool powers, but when
...
you realize they keep thinking that the girl is lying and that they keep flirting with her, even though they have little clue themselvs what it is,kinda makes me just smh in disappointment.
They tried to use shock value, but with the blandness of the person involved and this plot,it is very forced.
This anime even has a brief semi h-scene,but this show sort of managed to get by lol.
Oni Chan works both ways.Incest is Wincest.
The main villain is cool, what a beast. Why can't Modern anime villains be more like him?Too bad he is revealed at the very end,and defeated by the lamest way possible.
And that meaningless ending, let's just say it lives up to most harem anime endings.......

Danmachi is objectively better written than madoka magica and SAO.Cause unlike those shows,it can keep its story and tone correct.
The story follows a boy named trying to clear dungeons. His progression is the story itself.
Bell-I like the fact that he has his own goal not born of angst, or "save the world bs"(all shinji ikari clones like Kirito)He just wants to impress a girl who saved him at the start. He does go through trials get friends who help him later on.The series has some very impressive close fights(minotaur fight ftw),and he is not an overpowered Gary Stu like kirito(still cant beat his love interest lol).He is
...
very young, and is shy around girls(not wimpy, the dude got some serious game when he needs to).He does some boy stuff like play with his new skills.watching him grow was incredible.
I like the girls that "he picked up".They don't mindlessly hang around him unnecessarily like most harems.Love is not just the mindless declaration of love like in shallow shoujo like in kimi ni todoke. They show commitment responsibility and understanding. At least there is some measure of real bonding.
The girls are very girly.T-hey gossip fault tease amongst themselves.Sometimes i forget i am watching a harem lol.
Hestia.Funny how girls in real life just want to learn the ways of the boob string. But this "oppai loli" does have some decent character. She is the goddess that looks after him.At first she only shows affection.but the great thing about her is that over time she was willing to shoulder responsibility and help him become stronger. She isn't just a "gold digging wife".She knows it takes two to tango.A girl like her could have been annoying.
Aiz,love interest- i thought aiz would just be strong girl that would completely ignore him.but she was curious about him.and bells fear would just be a running gag.But they do get along.Aiz is not just his love. She was is rival and role model. And aiz at least noticed that and his determination as he got stronger a bit and that that rubbed off her.
lili-A traditional girl. She manipulates bell at some point and pays the price of it.What girls have responsibility and consequence?!Her arc also shows how dark the world can get.
Welf-a best friend character that is actually not a bad character.A weapon-smith with his own personal arc.
All in all the shows does not set false expectations like madoka magica and SAO,where they promise grandness but never deliver.
What will happen next?Danmachi is full of surprises, cause the is no goal other than clearing the dungeon.
final score 6/10.Ok, but how they proceed from here is important.

Thank you collective anime fandom!,No Game No Life exists as one of the results of "The World God Only Knows" UTTER FAILURE to save anime.
Anime fandom:we don't want sincere well written stories we want delusion and dogma to define anime.
Now moe anime have become more gary stu like more fanservice which pretty much makes them hentai.
No game No life was very inspired from the TWGOK,and the reason why I brought this up.
Sora and shiro are what drives this show, and a "ripoff" of Keima's coolness.except where keima was going toe to toe wtih the "REAL" world and was an actual non Gary stu character, the two
...
of them are an otaku and fujioshi fantasy.
This series makes you think they are smart but when you see their tatics they use more deus ex than actual intelligence.
Like that chess game ,the chess pieces have shonen power ups.
And why was the girl otaku able to PHYSICALLY MOVE and keep up with the beast girl?Even in that game,it still doesn't explain her body movements.
And come on the show has girls FULLY NUDE in some points. What happened to fanservice being just a tease?
And why nobody was smart enough to give a PHYSICAL SPORT CHALLENGE to them? They would lose easliy.
Its like the person who made this was taking revenge on TWGOK for showing the "sting" of reality, and making these two overcompensate.
And it looks like it has mainstream acceptance.
(Two years after the Goddess Arc and this is what anime has become....)
