While both animes explore the premise of the dynamic between an anti-social male tsundere protagonist and a diseased/disabled female deuteragonist , they handle the setup and development of the story a little differently. While Silent Voice puts a fresh and new feeling to the entire story by dealing with bullying and disability in a way rarely seen before, I Want To Eat Your Pancreas takes a more predictable approach, however, knowing of its predictability and using it to its advantage. They could definitely be considered tearjerkers, though reducing it to that shows a lack of understanding them. Different approaches yet if you watched one, you should watch the other too.
