This review might have some spoilers so watch out.
What on earth brought me to watch the infamous “School Days”? Well, let’s just say, curiosity killed the cat; however, I’m not a cat but still… curiosity got me, BIG TIME. So, let’s just say I’m an anime fan who wants to watch something that I haven’t seen before. I searched the internet, read suggestions from social media sites, scanned reviews and so on. I have to tell you, I read some spoilers about a severed head and a major playboy named Makoto.
Well, the spoilers did not stop me; in fact it led me an interest
...
to see this show. You might be saying, “But, connielas, won’t you lose interest when you see a spoiler especially if it’s the ending? Wouldn’t the thrill be lost as you watch it?”
My friend… you are absolutely right but sometimes some of us would experience what we call the “Spoiler Paradox”. It is an internet slang or theory though I do not know who coined it and who invented it (probably linguists or movie reviewers or blog users, fuck it, IRDK) which is a behavior common amongst fanatics of movies, series, or books.
Spoiler Paradox pertains to a certain behavior or moment when you know the ending of a story before you could even watch or read the whole thing which makes you more hyped about it or gives you the drive to watch the entire show.
The ending is just the tip of the iceberg, why stop there?
Any who, School Days had mixed reactions ranging from “What the fuck am I watching?” to “This show is amazing.” So, maybe, as a watcher of the show, I can give my opinions too.
Brief examination of the Plot:
First of all, the plot was definitely something unexpected even after knowing its ending, I was still shocked about how screwed up it was.
We have this typical high school setting where school festivals, lectures, part-time jobs, and many of those traditional Japanese High School sceneries, jumbled up in this show. However, as the pacing of the story develops, the light-hearted sceneries become a disguise to the real nature of the plot; sex, harem, relationship conflicts and psychology.
Second, the array of events went smoothly as things go from the normal life of high school students being all innocent to the savage life of high school students where they would undergo every possible crazy thing to get what they want.
Third, the truth behind the culture of the transition from junior high to high school was displayed naturally in the show. Some students even after being shy and timid back in junior high would grow into absolute assholes. They will be linked to uneducated patterns of unsafe sex or premarital sex which is kind of an issue even today.
Fourth, the gender roles depicted was kind of expected. Some women are being succumbed to their ideals of either being sluts and whores or having the sickness of blind idolatry. This goes to show that in this field of story, women are viewed as the weaker sex given the fact that they go through every circumstance just to get laid or to be subjected as mere sex objects.
On the other hand, men are viewed also in a negative way. In this case, men are seen as perverted creatures giving in to their (as Plato’s Philosophy would like to call) appetitive part. Their rationality to train their desire disappears and they naturally give in to their lascivious thoughts and acts, no matter what kind of women and no matter what condition. At this point, men are viewed as the prevailing sex but in a negative way.
All in all, do not be deceived by its poster. Mind you, school days have never been this enigmatic.
Analyzing of Art, Music, and Japanese Dub
The art did not blend quite well with the storyline. The plot engaged more on the dark side of the story and less on the cheerful parts but the art showed more easy colors rather than heavy, metallic, gloomy tones. The eyes of the characters were distracting as hell too but I guess it’s because the creators wanted to function a dual feel to the audience. While the story functions as deep and sinister, the background seemed monochromatic but not murky enough. It may be a technique to drive viewers at ease while watching. It is actually my first time to watch an anime that came from TNK studios so maybe I have no grasp of its strategy when it comes to animation.
The music was kind of good but sloppy. Maybe because it’s just me or does the music somehow deprived the volume of the characters’ voices or something?
The Japanese Dub Cast was soothing. No voice became too annoying for me. Sekai’s VA stood out the most. It is my first time to hear such a suitable voice for a character’s personality. Sekai’s voice was between a mother and a nagging teenager.
However, Setsuna’s voice was a bit appalling for me. Judging the fact that her personality is a laid-back leader who does not have much emotion to show, her voice did not actually fit well. Maybe because it became too apathetic for me even after her personality changed halfway through the story.
Character Development
Each character earned a gold star for me and why is that?
Because most of their personalities were dynamic.
Makoto Itou, a timid guy then after being influenced by Sekai’s drive to help him gain confidence and train him to become an ideal boyfriend for Katsura, his image definitely bolstered. He became a harem guy, then, a fuckboy, then, a manmade jerk. This cycle goes on and on and it is understandable for me. It depicted his inner Makoto. Let’s just congratulate him for being one of the most hated anime characters in anime history. Makoto, everyone! *slow claps*
Katsura Kotonoha, one of Makoto’s women who experienced most of the tragedy, became some kind of a chaotic woman. Her personality grew from an introverted girl who was powerless to a sublime psychotic woman who was imprisoned in Makoto’s world. Her development was definitely astounding in oh so many levels.
Saiionji Sekai, mainly one of the masterminds behind Makoto’s drive to become a womanizer, became a turbulent insane person. She was a simple girl who had one task; become a matchmaker for Makoto and Katsura. However, it turned out that she had an ulterior motive that she thought it would only be for her sake. She inevitably sacrificed her body as an object of “training” for Makoto. In the end, the two surrendered to their infatuation and made things “official” between them. Or so they thought.
Setsuna Kiyora, one of Makoto’s sexual affiliations, stood out the most (in my opinion). Her quiet, strict and mobilized attitude earns her a credit to be unsuspected. Her intelligence may inspire a lot of people but as the saying goes, “Smart people are dumb when it comes to love.” Setsuna wanted to help her friend Sekai in building a harmonious and stable relationship with Makoto but along the way she experiences her selfishness and surrendered to her desires as well.
Kato Otome, Makoto’s junior high classmate and Katsura’s bully, was also one of the delegates in Makoto’s lustful desires. Otome liked Makoto but her body was the only thing that kept Makoto in business with her.
Overall Opinions
This show isn’t bad and it isn’t that good either. For me, this is a cup of tea for people who would like to watch psychological thrillers meaning it is just a fine anime. While, the general impact of the animation is lacking, the story was close to becoming an enjoyable watch for people who desire a unique storyline composing of dark themes and intentions of murder.
Most people did not like School Days for its “what the fuck am I watching?” quality. It may not be their preferred genre or it may seemed too gore for them.
For me, this anime has become an adventure. Discovering new ideas on how characters can actually mobilize their feelings and transform to different behaviors. As a person, I wouldn’t say that some of the actions displayed in this anime can be put to reality, what I’m saying is there would be possibilities or chances that somehow even rational human beings can give in to their desires of killing, having sex, or having a mental picture of their own realities.

Ao no Exorcist
(Anime)
add
Recommended
THIS REVIEW HAS NO SPOILERS!
The reason why I did not place any spoilers for people to really step up their game and try watching Ao no Exorcist! You have to find out the mytery behind these phrases. Why this? Why that? How come? I’m surprised by the fact that people would label Ao no Exorcist as a generic shounen anime. I couldn’t agree more with that but somehow it suits my taste, I don’t know why. What surprised me the most was the scores they gave here in MAL. Most were practically low or just average. Now let me tell you why I loved Blue ... Exorcist. Kazue Katou, the original creator of the manga based show exquisitely chose the theme of demons and humans divided in two worlds, Gehenna (realm of demons or hell) and Assiah (earth). These worlds are mirrors of each other but somehow, obviously, Gehenna is the more evil side. The story goes really fast without any filler in the manga, but in the anime… they fabricated some details and events. From the very start, the production staff already added scenes that may or may not be entertaining. I think because they lacked material and information from the manga. Here is a short summary of the events, Rin Okumura is a son of an exorcist and has a twin brother who is seemingly ahead of him when it comes to academics and behavior (best of both worlds kind of guy). He remained to have a normal human life for 15 years but little did he know there is a secret that lurks inside of him, a secret that is crucial for anyone to find out. The show actually has a number of genres in it. You got action, comedy, drama and loads of things that you can find in your average show. I know it may sound normal but I was a bit hesitant to watch it at first but I’m sure you’d like it once you’ve come across the depths of this anime. Usually the first half of the show is a bit okay but I guess the second took all the glory and showed all the action and answers behind each question. Unfortunately, it didn’t go to well. Everything seemed abnormal from the development of the characters to the storyline. It seemed rush and not handled very well. I did enjoy the fillers like the ones in Soul Eater but more importantly we did not watch the anime because of the non existent and non canon episodes made by A–1 Pictures. I guess half of the show became OVA (Obviously Very Apathetic). I wished they’d make a new season because most of the arcs in the manga really kept the story in a more understandable pace. Anyway, if you extremely hate fillers and you can’t bear to watch nonsensical scenes, you can skip episodes 17 – 25 and start reading chapter 14 or 15 of the manga. There are major changes in most of the scenes. But if you’re like me who loves to finish a good show and just start reading the manga from the start, you can actually just watch the whole thing and read the whole thing. Art is Artstanding! Okay that was so lame. I’m sorry. Well it is the truth. This is probably my first time watching a show that is produced by A-1 Pictures, that or I just couldn’t remember. The music sounds great too. I noticed that they used the traditional piano and electric guitar tunes; moreover, what caught my attention is the godlike chanting in the BGM (background music). The opening and ending songs were dramatic and fantastic to hear. My favorite would be Core Pride by UVERworld. The voice actors did well. I’m surprised that Kaji Yuuki voiced Konekomaru! I mean, WOW! Yukio’s voice sounded more mature which suits him well. On the other hand, Rin’s voice is a bit rebellious and fit for his character. Characters were just amazing. I know some of them are your typical shounen characters. We have Rin who is a hot headed teenage guy who had a rough past and becomes a hero. Yukio, his brother, on the other hand, is calm at most situations and also has tons of secrets. Shiemi, the moe type of girl who cares for everyone (like a Mary Sue) and guys fawn over her. Kamiki, tsundere girl, absolutely predictable. Shima, the perverted guy. Suguro, cool and mysteriously smart. Konekomaru, also smart and flexible with people. You got every basic thing that you can see in most characters but somehow there are interesting ones like Mephisto who is the most mysterious guy and he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants to. He can control any situation with his brilliant mind with full of schemes. Shura, the badass girl who can dress and express her reactions and can still kick some ass. Let us not forget the addition of animals. What I like about these characters, despite the fact that they portray the most commonly seen traits, I’d say most of them are really helpful. You cannot deny the fact that each and everyone of them have the guts to protect someone they love and they have the most interesting fighting tactics. There may be unexplainable reasons why I loved Blue Exorcist because somehow my reasons were a bit vague for people to understand. Maybe sometimes we have different tastes in anime and genres. Sometimes we just need to respect each other’s likings. For example, one may prefer watching Code Geass over Naruto or One Piece over Fairy Tail. Some people would go for underrated shows rather than overrated or famous ones. Either way, we all have our own playlists in anime. Going back to this show, I believe you will definitely love it. Go straight to the manga once you finish watching it because every chapter will be worth the wait.

Hunter x Hunter (2011)
(Anime)
add
Recommended
Suffice to say, I cannot explain Hunter X Hunter (2011) in just a few words. I’m a little late on the hype because I waited for the remake to finish before I could watch it as a whole; but anyway, right now, I’m on the verge of extracting my feelings to all of you after watching yet again a fantastic shounen anime.
I’ll just let you know that I’ve watched the first series before the remake and I might give off some short comparison between the two in some parts of my review (please do not get annoyed). However, that does not mean that ... the other is superior to the other. Don’t worry; I will not give any spoilers. ELEMENTS OF THE STORY PLOT - It’s tiring to even say the synopsis so I’ll have to get to the point. I loved how the author arranged the arcs in an organized way. It isn’t confusing and you will definitely have fun trying to remember those moments. Also, you can actually tell which part is which. Lastly, every arc is enjoyable and encouraging to see in their most valuable way. Let me describe each of those. 1. Hunter Exam – It is one of the most highlighted events in the lives of the 4 characters; Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio. For the most part, in this event you will see more action, less dramatic happenings and a lot more challenges that you could think of. Just participating in the exam is horrifying. 2. Zoldyck Family – Killua is quite peculiar but more so, his family is also strange but a lot more. In this arc, there will be more tests that the comrades will face that are as difficult as the vicious Hunter Exam. 3. Heavens Arena and Nen – This one is as far as I’m concerned, one of the most entertaining part of the show. I can recall how the characters experienced hell in Heavens Arena (ironic right?) expect more short battles and exciting kicks of the main characters. You will definitely enjoy most of the fights in this show. Oh, and they will learn a new skill that is pretty badass. 4. Auction and Phantom Rogue – a group that Kurapika serves as a mortal enemy. The four friends face the horrifying and powerful thieves or were they assassins? They are a bit of both. You will witness more bloodshed and nail-biting as Kurapika et al gamble their lives on defeating the most terrifying criminals that can defeat thousands of armies. 5. Greed Island – If you love a good real life video game, I guess you will appreciate this arc. Gon believes that this game has a clue on seeing his Dad so along with Killua and a bunch of new friends, they will win this game and complete the requirements needed. I guess this arc gives the two a no sweat battle. 6. Chimera Ants – One word, disturbing. And another one, it’s disgusting. The characters travel on to the next phase of their lives as they discover a new organism in a country, they are called, Chimera ants. You might already have an idea on what a chimera is if you’ve watched the Fullmetal Alchemist franchise. Chimeras are animals infused with human personalities and maybe bodies. Some may look like pure animals but in a way, they look a little evolved. Ants and the human race will get to combat on who will snatch the spot on the top of the food chain. Unexpected deaths will rise and most especially, it has a touch of drama behind it. I really cried in some parts. This arc also helped in honing the development of the characters. 7. Election and Alluka – This one has less fights. It’s more of a relaxed part of the show. There are minimal battles because of the aftermath on the Chimera Ants match. This arc has more logical thinking and it is also risky. Tears and blood will be shed but for the most part, the ending will cap a new beginning for all of the characters. The explanation may not be too long for you guys to understand but I suppose this is my vivid description for most of the relevant parts of the story. For the sudden comparison, Hunter X Hunter 2011 is better in delivering the story. It has a fast pacing of the turnover of events which is quite more pleasing to use that the old anime. At first, before encountering Hunter X Hunter 2011, I was devastated when I learned that they cut a bunch of funny and entertaining scenes from the manga that was shown from the 1999 series; for example, the famous sushi episode, where it was hard for the characters to please the examiner. On the other hand, I was awakened by the fact that it wasn’t important and either way, the story would’ve advanced even without that part. There is also the fact that it took almost 30 episodes to air the Hunter Exam from the old anime while, in the remake it only took 20 or less episodes. You can never get bored with the both of them but if you’ve already watched the 1999 version, I guess you will understand that fast paced is much superior. However, with the chimera arc, it took like 60 or more episodes to actually visualized and explains the battle. Anyway, the story was longer than in the 1999 version which only ended until the Greed Island arc. SETTING and ENDING - The settings of the show gave a fulfilling representation of the bizarre yet colorful life of hunters. You will see the vast changes of one arc from the other. I think the bright and refined color of the backgrounds made the show more interesting to watch. The ending was just… WOW. There is no word to explain it. Yeah, somehow it didn’t satisfy the ending for the other characters but I guess it turned out pretty awesome. Thank you, Togashi Yoshihiro. You and your brilliance will shine forever! I hope the story continues on in the manga! CHARACTERS – I’m not supposed to take this in a long explanation but I guess I’ll have to say it. Hunter X Hunter has a lot of wide ranged characters. You can actually see the depth and differences between personalities and distinguish them just by looking at their faces. The character design was just flawless in terms of personality but in appearance… not so much. I guess most of the main characters are built up with flat development. Gon Freecs have almost no change with his personality which is predictable but the only development he had to encounter is his hatred and his powers. This one took place in the chimera ant arc. You can see how he changed from the sweetest and kindest character in the story, well, he still is. On the other hand, his emotions changed as he meets new villains and disappointments. The thrill is in with Gon. Leorio is also a flat character. He is aggressively stupid and a bit fond of women. ‘Til the very end, he is the epitome of a stupid and weak hunter but he knows how to overcome that with the help of his friends. Kuapika has a minimal development like Gon. He has potential in yielding his powers and he gets even stronger than before because of revenge. Kurapika is always level-headed but as the story goes on, he cannot control the hidden anguish inside his heart. To be honest, Killua has the most development out of all the characters. He was once a good child, following the demands of his family but as he grew, he realized that there were more treasured people outside of the world. His realization with the world and the discovery that he gathers each time he spends with Gon, helps him to grow and advance into a different person. For the villains, Hisoka is the oddest and scariest of all. I can’t even figure out his true motive. He could be an enemy or an ally. He’s just so confusing and there is no telling whether he is going to kill Gon or not. The other character that caught my attention would be, Meruem. He is a round character for he develops a sensibility inside of him that gives him a sturdy ideology between people and ants. EFFECTS: SOUND – The opening does not condemn me at all. I think the song is a bit off for me. It isn’t my taste and I’m sorry for the comparison but, 1999 version wins when it comes to the opening song. Ohayo will always be my favorite anime song. On the bright side, the 2011 version did great on background music. I enjoy watching the show because of the OST. For the voice dub, I prefer Japanese because the 1999 English dub was just BAD. Notable voices captured my attention such as Sawashiro Miyuki who has the most recognizable voice in the show and Miyano Mamoru. The rest did a really good work. ANIMATION – Madhouse is in charge of mostly dark anime series like Nana, Death Note and so on. They are an expertise when producing a dark feel to the show; at the same time, producing an amusing side as well. I love their flexibility when it comes to shows. I hope they serve as an example to other production staff as well. Oh, and they make good chibis. What else, I gues this one has a vibrant color than the old series. I have an issue with Hisoka’s hair, Killua’s fashion sense, and other stuff but I guess both versions are weird in their own ways. ENJOYMENT and OVERALL I definitely had a nice catch with this one. Hunter X Hunter makes a lot of surprises and changes. It has potential in seeking selected audiences with its dark themed and it is full of action. It has everything what a shonen anime makes or represents. Cool characters caring for their friends, anonymous and surprising villains, funny moments, decent quotes and a lot more. I guess I’m writing too much adlib. My favorite parts of this anime (I’m acting like a kid right now I’m sorry) are the Bromance of Gon and Killua, Kurapika’s successful yet failing vengeance, Leorio’s motivation with his friends, Hisoka’s peculiarity, and strong hunters.. especially, the chairman. I’m quite relieved that this ranked 94 in popularity because sometimes popular shows are the most awful ones *coughs*, Fairy Tail, *coughs*, Kuroko no Basuke, *coughs*, so many more. Nevertheless, please watch this awesome anime. Mind you, both versions are both recommendable, I’m sure you will enjoy both shows at a high rate. I’m even running out of words on how to describe it. You’ll get hooked and will be hooked with this exceptional, special, extraordinary, incomparable, outstanding, remarkable, amazing, unique… Fuck! I need a thesaurus! Please Watch Hunter X Hunter 2011!

Soul Eater NOT!
(Anime)
add
Not Recommended
Let me get this straight, the reason why I watched this show is to actually view the old characters one last time *cries*. The fact that I miss Death the Kid, Black Star, Maka Albarn, Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, Patty and Liz Thompson, and of course, Soul E. Evans (I'll have you know I placed those names without consulting google and other websites. I memorized them!), immediately I was in cloud nine after receiving a notice that the spin-off of Soul Eater will be released. I actually kind of expected that Not! will not satisfy me but I didn't expect it to disappoint me this much.
The story ... is labeled as decent for score but for me it's unsatisfactory. You want the idea of having a dark and action-packed show like Soul Eater, instead you get a flow of story about teenage girls who can't solve their problems in getting a partner. It is a slice of life rendition of Soul Eater. It shows the everyday life of students INSIDE DWMA. Their lives are different from the former gang, it's less complicated and duller. Their singing is excruciating and this show cannot be K-On. Dear Bones, you cannot be Kyoto Animation! Not ever! The cuteness, plot holes, fillers, and unhelpful shits in the story made me regret watching this show. The art is lazy and pathetic. I get the idea of how the characters are younger and cuter but, COME ON!! There is no reason to make the art look so, sluggish and shitty! I do not like how the characters looked like mashed paintings or abstract figures! Have you seen that fight with Eternal Feather? (reference: Youtube) It was the saddest animation I have ever seen in my entire life. It looked like 15 year old kids could do that fighting scene. Setting the fighting scenes aside (which is I think only 3 or 4 scenes), I see how uncomfortable it is to watch huge breasts floating all over my eyes. The only thing that I loved was Shaula's hair and Sid's younger face (which is a bit hot). The sound was okay but not good enough, sorry. The characters were the worst. the way Atsushi Okubo created them were not what I hoped he'd do. I hate their personalities and their corny and cheesy moments just made me puked. The MC which I don't remember her name anymore was really plain. She has two ponytails which made her look more childish and useless. She also makes this idiotic catchphrases that makes my eyes twitch and for some reason they laugh for the heck of it. The other, with the huge boobs were drastically made for fanservice. She has a short term memory which I guess is not original and I hate how she flirts like a yuri character. The commoner lover which I can remember her name is I think, Anya? She has this uncontrollable personality, the tsundere type. I personally hate most tsunderes. They blush all the time trying to make characters worry and all and they think they're so cute but they actually have a dysfunctional and suckish personality. I'm sorry but this dumb trio is nothing like the group I loved from the first season. Stein, the old characters, and the coffee manager were the only characters that were less disappointing. I didn't enjoy it, I regret watching it. I think you guys need to see this first before watching the original Soul Eater to compare the beauty of Soul Eater and the wickedness of this poorly-animated show. I just wanted to see that original characters one last time *sobs mathematically* but I never would've guessed that this show would be a rip-off. #lame #iknowthisisnttwitter #idontcare #thisanimeisbullshit I cannot guys, I just can't. I'm just thankful that this became possible because in that way I can see the characters again. So I guess this is goodbye, Soul Eater? *cries so hard that it breaks everything in its path*

Durarara!!x2 Shou
(Anime)
add
Recommended Technically, I've been waiting for this to happen --- a sequel to one of the most extraordinary anime I've come across with!Back in 2014, when they announced that Durarara!! will have a second season, my heart burst out of happiness. I got excited and updated myself every now and then for announcements and news about its release. The first season gave me a lot of jaw-dropping and amusement. Although it was really violent and quirky, the characters and the rearrangements of the plot kept me waiting for the next episode. I became addicted to it. It's more like my ice cream in anime style. I wrote ... a review of the first season five years ago after watching it and it definitely made me laugh. (you have to check it out to see) My writing style back then was pretty childish and humorous. The epitome of my thoughts before was less professional (it's not like I'm a professional right now). I've improved and I think I can actually say things in a less hackneyed way. Anyway, I'll give you a slight warning, in case you haven't noticed: THIS IS A REVIEW FOR THE SECOND SEASON, NOT THE FIRST ONE! WATCH THE FIRST SEASON BEFORE LAYING AN EYE ON THIS SIMPLE REVIEW. Durarara!! is known for its brilliant twist and turns in the story line. It starts off really convincing and complicated at the same time but in the latter parts of the episodes, the most convincing answers and spin-offs will leave you desiring for the next mysterious adventure in the streets of Ikebukuro. Well, Shou still has that magic in it. Even after five years, Aniplex produced the anime well, providing what audiences want. The unending fights, the bonds of the clans, the characters' perception about everything that happened in their lives and their future expectations. To give a bit of a clear background on the main plot without any spoilers being revealed, let me start with this: the Dollars were having a few conflicts with each other also, needless to say, they have new enemies to encounter. Shizuo and Izaya have yet again a tough situation in dealing with each other (well, we know who's fault that is and it starts with the letter "I") Mikado and Anri finds a new friend in their school, which will actually bring them horror. Celty accepts new jobs but the people of Tokyo fears her and so on. Oh, and Shizuo's brother will also get into action. New characters will also participate in the game of the urbanized, supernatural, comical, and rowdy places in Ikebukuro. Anwyay, the ending's fine but some of the characters will reach their developing stages; more so, we will find out how they will cope with their developments in Durarara!! Ten on July. I know the plot review's a bit long but I guess there is so much going on in this anime that my head is popping with idealistic critics about it. I just hope than in the 2nd part of Durarara!!, there will be answers for the ending ;). I give this a 10. The Art is still bland and simple as usual. I don't hate it, I just didn't get the hype of new anime shows today. I think their getting lazy with the animation but at least the fighting scenes are manifested correctly. The character design still fits and nothing really changed that much. The view of the city still has that dark aura in it. Brain's Base studios did not participate in this series so I guess some of the artworks were fabricated or so it is. 7 for art! Music sounds good. It still has the traditional themes like Anri's Seika background music and other memorable tunes from the previous season. I think they added new ones but I couldn't remember. I wish they made more sound effects to make things pop a little bit or to add a little change, right? The opening song clearly reminded me of the intro from the previous season. The voice is husky and the music was fast and electronic. For the ending song, they did it magnificently and the pacing of the lyrics is kind of fast. I loved how they redo the animation from the "Trust Me" ending by connecting the characters from one another, making a long line of character presentation. Both are catchy and fun to listen. Voice Actors were just exceptionally good. They did just well and I think the characters' voices did not change. I just wish they did more music and not borrow the BGM from the first season, I give it an 8. Okay, let's get to the showcasing of characters. Starting with the Original Characters: Shizuo Heiwajima - one of my favorites in this series. Recap: the guy in a bartender suit, yellow hair, ultra strong, hot-headed (in a massive way), and loves his kid brother. In this part, he developed in a way that you guys would never expect him to be. However, Izaya still wants to play with him and of course, Shizuo would naturally kill that guy but never really succeeded. Kida Masaomi - recap: jolly, secretive, patient but he's like a kettle because once you make him mad, his anger will boil and blow up and he is also the Yellow Scarves head. You will only see him in a few episodes. He will show up every now and then but there seems to have a little progress in his personality. Mikado Ryugamine - recap: the most normal looking guy and possibly has the most boring personality ever, he is the founder of Dollars, remember?. But don't give up on him. The excitement is just getting better as he turn into a new leaf, everything will definitely change. Sonahara Anri - recap: big breasts, short and black hair, shy, soft-spoken ad wielder of Seika. There is not much going on with Anri although she still has her tail caught up with Celty, Izaya, a Russian woman and Mikado's mess. She is naturally a great woman and she will protect her friends no matter what. She is also facing a bit of a problem with Seika (her power). Celty Sturluson - recap: do we need one?! known as the headless or black biker; she's awesome, badass and a lover of Shinra. She is not human but I still love her for that. In the new season, she gets to meet a new doctor who is a friend of Shinra's dad and will studies her body and etc. She accepts new jobs in order to make money for Shinra. In the end, it will cause her mishaps and mayhem, here and there. Kadota - recap: the guy with the cap who's good at fighting, wearing a blue jacket. Well, he will soon have a valuable role in this season, dipping into a massive bloodbath and a one-on-one battle with a character. Heiwajime Kasuka - recap: Shizuo's kid brother, insane actor, emotionless bastard (not in a literal sense), and says minimal stuff. In this season, he meets a new girl which may or may not send him to trouble. Orihara Izaya - recap: sexy, scheme-y, and manipulative. The information broker is back! Badass as ever with his gadgets. Staring off into the monitor keeping himself entertained but most of the time, he is what every yellow haired guy wearing bartender suits hate. He still is if that's what you're asking We don't need recaps here so for the NEW characters: Varona - a Russian woman with blonde hair with a great backstory. She enters in the city to get things done and make things right. She is strong but she's human. She also has a job to do which is kind of related with Celty's. Aoba Kuronuma - Don't be fooled, this guy KNOWS things... He ruins everything. Orihara Sisters - Izaya despises them and he does not want to be near his sisters, let alone make them interfere with his plans. Anyway, these two have twisted personalities but they make a perfect team to make this anime more interesting and watchable. Rokujou, Chikage - nicknamed Rochi, a guy who protects and loves women. He is a leader in a bike gang. He is also a monster at combat but not as monstrous as Shizuo. Anyway, you'll know more if you watch the show. Hijiribe, Ruri - an actress that has a certain secret and issue that can be compared with what Anri has. She is also emotionless and will partake a catastrophic journey in facing her enemies. Awakusu, Akane- cute and innocent child who I think has also a personality that every little girl has. Naive, easy to fool, crybaby and well, childish. She is a daughter of a yakuza member or leader. She gets to face many challenges and truths in the latter part of the story. I guess that's all of the characters that were memorable for me. More or less, they give off a great atmosphere in this show. I give it a 9 because there was something missing that I need to see. Of course I enjoyed it! It was a pain to wait for 7 days for another episode to show up but I still love to watch each and every second of it. I really liked the cliffhanger ending knowing that in the next season it would produce the conclusion to those particular scenarios. Enjoyment and Overall, I give a 9. It is so fantastic. I'm speechless and my words cannot explain how happy I am that this became a reality (not the characters, the show itself). I can't wait for the sequel. Please watch this, you need it. You need a break from all the dramatic and simplicity of everyday life. Try a supernatural anime, try Durarara!! Also, watch the opening song, it will give the short replay of the previous episodes to remind you.

Without fail, this anime had me in stitches after hours and hours of watching all the episodes for 2 days. (sorry, I didn't finish it in one because of chores.)
Truth is, I saw a screenshot of this anime in my profile and I was interested in seeing it. It was a picture of mangas being piled up in a bag. Two of those mangas were my favorites; namely, Soul Eater and Fullmetal Alchemist. I got interested so I looked it up without viewing its synopsis and started seeing it. I was first in distraught when I found out that the first episode tackles ... about a man being in shame after punching a critic who demolished his whole world by saying a very hurtful comment about his calligraphy. I thought that maybe I was viewing this show and making a waste of time and energy. But I decided to give it a shot. Barakamon has a simple yet a refreshing plot. The MC ventures on a quest to find a peace of his mind and to have an adventure in a certain province that will either help him fail or achieve success in winning the calligraphy contest. It sure does seem boring at first because not all of us just sit and and talk about calligraphy once in a while because we are not at all interested in it. On the other hand, it actually has a deeper meaning to it. Handa (MC), meets a variety of people that gives him food, infuriates him, and somehow gives him ideas. Meanwhile, the MC is still on the verge finding out whether the people in the province serves him as a distraction, inspiration or both. As I go around halfway through the series, I find myself enjoying the whole story and having a connection on the characters. It's pretty obvious that I liked this anime. I am not the usual type who watches Slice of Life themed shows and love them this much. I don't usually enjoy them, I just see their capability to entertain a person. Sometimes I sleep halfway through the episodes but in Barakamon, I've never felt any of those. This will be one of my favorite shows of all time. The comedy and plot is timeless. It is something you won't see everyday. I think the art is Brain's Base's doing. The inconsistent outline somehow managed to astound me even more. Its creative style to add accent to the characters managed to help me enjoy the show even more. The background is as expected, really wonderful and realistic as usual. It pays attention to detail. Also, the coloring they used is usually pastel colors which complements the light-heartedness of this show. Daisuke Ono's voice acting is probably one of the most interesting parts of this show! I never would've guessed that the serious, sexy, and soothing voice of Ono-sama would match the quirkiness of Handa Seishuu. You guys should give this 2014 anime a chance because while there isn't much anime excitement going on last year, I suppose Barakamon can give you a subtle yet captivating impression.

Mixed Feelings Preliminary
(10/25 eps)
Oh God, this is going to take a long time to discuss.
I watched this because it was a recommendation of my best friend and it is also one of her favorite anime show. You guys may be wondering.. why only a "6"? Well, before we jump into conclusions, this review contains an opinion by me and my feelings towards this show so I can say what I think in a respectful manner as possible so please, it's not that I HATE this show... it's just I didn't find it satisfactory to my taste. Why is that? Let's start randomly.. ... Animation (8) - Soothing and attractive. The show's style is a video game with role playing and stuff but they stick to the traditional HD animation. As expected of Aniplex production studios, they really did a good job. I give props to the appearances of the characters as well, the sizes of their heads and body were balanced and proportional because sometimes I have an issue on those things. Story (8) - Original, well-thought and modern. Usually, Sci-Fi anime shows prevail in the industry; such as, SnK, FMA, Steins; Gate, et al. SAO is one of those shows that has a story based on a headgear that will make you live in your own video game story. Instantly, I loved the idea because once again, this is about survival and an escapade from a virtual world. The first episode made me hyped up about the whole series because it introduces more characters and their feelings and emotions. However, the latter part of the anime, got me confused. Yes, it is filler free and straightforward but considering how overly-fast paced this show is, I lost the connection between most of the characters and the main characters as well. Also, there was even less action in this show. Apart from that, the love story was more developed rather than the main story itself. Kirito and Asuna were not concentrating on getting out of the game; instead, they stick to kissing and making up which I didn't enjoy. They should've made this a shoujo series instead of a shounen. Lastly, I dropped this show at episode 10 because I cannot continue on watching it. It got boring and it got me departed from the story and the message it conveys. I don't know about the light novel but I just can't seem to indulge myself with this particular "game related era" because probably, I'm not a natural gamer. I have never been addicted to a video game for like a year so maybe that's one of the reasons why I didn't enjoy the story. All in all, the plot is 8 because basically it is original and I hope that in the light novel it would picture a better pacing than this one. Sound (4) - I wasn't too involved with the Opening and the Ending of the show so I can't give it a 10 so instead I believe that it was a decent music. I love the background music though, it helped me gave that video game feels. Making everything so virtual and enjoying to watch. Voice actors did fairly well. Enjoyment (3) - Just the first and second episode but the rest got my tongue stuck out and my eyes closed most of the time. I just can't get attached to it. I sometimes would rather sleep than watch it or something but still, maybe if I could rewatch it I can enjoy it somehow (when I have the time.) Character (4) - The downfall of this show is its characters. There isn't a single character that caught my attention. Kirito was not really special but I adore his courage and passion towards his gaming skills. Asuna is a tsundere which is already the most mainstream character in anime which sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. Asuna is beautiful and I admire her independence but I just can't appreciate them. Sometimes I forget their names but thanks to social networking sites, they refresh my memory. Overall (6) - This anime can be new and fresh but I was just upset about it. If only the characters would seem more influential and the pacing should be more subtle. I also wished for more action but the love story and the drama became a lot more prominent in this show. I know I have a different view on this show but if you are a gamer and loves really quick storylines maybe you can watch this. Think twice though. :D but I think you should give this a chance.

"I need your love, I'm a broken rose." - lyrics from the first opening.
The anime shows aired during 2007 - 2010 were usually the most phenomenal in my point of view. Shows today were lacking the deep sense of plot, enjoyment, drama and the whimsical world of comedy. These days it is hard to look for an anime that will make you re-watch when you have time and remember for a lifetime. Nana is one of those shows that is heart-wrenching, cheerful and life - changing. Plot: Nana's story would actually be like soap operas in TV but better. You can see how the storyline ... was put in deep thought and everything was strategically planned. More drama and comedy also more romance. To tell you the truth, I suspected that this is going to be a music themed anime wherein everything revolves around the world of music, soundtracks, bands and yeah. more music. I thought the two girls coincidentally met in a competition. They looked different so I thought the gothic Nana would sing some alternative rock and other punk style songs (I wasn't wrong about that) and the other who looks like a fragile and cheery girl would venture in pop, love songs, or maybe japanese cultured stuff. Soon, they end up being rivals. On the other hand, that isn't the case. Osaki Nana, one of the main characters explored in Tokyo and met this girl named Komatsu Nana. They both have dreams, Nana wanted to become a successful singer, the other would like to find a job and be independent at the same time, meet her boyfriend who has a long-distance relationship with her. They soon meet again and it led to a deep and happy friendship. Although, it was a bumpy road for the both of them, things did sort out in the end (or so I thought). Heavy and consecutive circumstances will arise like betrayal, abandonment and despicable fate. Moreover, there will also be happy events which you will never get enough. The drama behind the story can happen in reality. We can relate to some of the stories of the characters and we will dive in to their emotions like we feel them, or like we are actually in the story. Honestly, there will always be cliche acts in this show but the point is, they clearly caught my attention. Life will not always be a bed of roses so, there will be various tragic moments along the way. Above all, I give it 9 points. Art, 6.5: One of the weak points but, it is understandable. The characters, background and other effects really did belonged to Madhouse. The eyes, body structure and dark aura reminded me of Death Note. The color of the hair reminded me of Bokura ga Ita as well as the expression of the characters. Kudos to the background, they somehow paid attention to the detail considering how hard it is to make an anime. They have to make everything from scratch. Developing 47 episodes can be a handful plus it was flashed last 2007 so yeah, I can see why I couldn't appreciate the art that much. Sound 8/10: Some where phenomenal, some where blowing my brains out, and some where just distracting. I really like songs by the fictional band, BLAST (bias aside) because they were more convincing and new to hear. I'm not a big fan of punk rock or punk bands but it's nice to give it a try. Sound effects were quite repetitive while it adds mood to the dramatic and joyous scenes. VA's We'll start with the people I know too well and my favorites: Osaki Nana's seiyu (Romi Park): Suitable, cool and awesome. She has the whole package. From the lowness of the pitch to the (sometimes) out of pitch voice she makes when she is mad or complaining. She's definitely one great voice actress. As expected to the Best Voice Actress during the First Seiyu Awards. Nobuo's Seiyuu (Seki Tomokazu): Also Kyo Sohma's voice. It's nice to hear a kinder version of him and also his subtleness and everything. For me, he has one of the distinguishable voice of all and he doesn't have a mediocre voice. On top of that, I really like his acting, he could be goofy and seemingly upset at some parts of the anime. Kyosuke's VA (Suwabe Junichi): Great and very A-okay. The huskiness of his voice suited the character very well. He has the ideal old guy kind of gesture and voice. Layla's voice actress (Hirano Aya): Exceptional work as always. She can depict a dramatic and a cheerful voice for the character. She also won an award but I don't remember what it was. On the other hand, I hope she had more screen time because I have always adored her voice. People I don't really know that well. Komatsu Nana's, Ren's, Takumi's, and Shin's seiyus were diverse too. Although I'm not a big fan of them, I enjoyed hearing their voices. They were good in catching my attention when I get hooked up in every scene. The rest, they did okay. Character 8: Splendid Characterization but I can only give a few words to some of the characters: Here goes: Komatsu Nana: The flirty, selfish but cute girl that always get admired by many people. She can be dependable but she can do things professionally if she gives her heart and soul to perfect it. She is a fan of BLAST and TRAPNEST. She receives too many heartaches in the story but she always get to switch to many guys. She is a bright version of foolish chicks around the world. Naive, a boy lover and can flirt with any guy they like. But I love this woman, seriously. Osaki Nana: The cool version of a naive chick. She is somewhat a gothic girl. An introvert, independent, and incredible woman. A beautiful singer who will always cherish her fans. She isn't a boy lover but ever since she got to be friends with Nobu, she never had a single female friend (setting Misato aside). She has some problems like promoting her pride and having separation anxiety (because of her terrible past). I love her so much and I like her calm and consistent attitude. Junko: An awesome friend to Komatsu Nana. She is straightforward and most of the time she can say things that would literally wake a person up and decide in a mature manner. She's definitely not one of those whores who would give second-rate advices and comfort their friends like a whim. Kyosuke: First Most loyal guy in the show. Ren: A bassist/guitarist in the band. Almost the loyal guy in the show. He is in love with Nana. He has some issues like being guilty on fulfilling his dream. He will do everything for Nana in a heartbeat. Nobuo: Short but the sweetest guy ever. He isn't reluctant to give help to troubled girls. He can be a natural when it comes to fascinating conversations with men and even with women. Sachiko: WHORE. Shouji: MAN WHORE. Takumi: THE REAL WHORE Shinichi: cute and visibly insensitive. He is probably the most chilled-out person in the series. He doesn't react that much plus he's handsome. Yasu: Caring, Loving, and Dependable. He is like the Batman of this series. Reira/Layla: Adorable, sensitive and a good singer too. In the end, there were really hateable characters. I can never get enough of NANA unless they remove all these characters because they are the highlight and the powerhouse of this story. Enjoyment 8: It was one hell of a ride. I'm lost with words. I shed a tear in many parts of the anime. Everything was unbelievably what I've wanted. Sure, there are some unwanted sex scenes, ecchi, and a lot of matured content but I am no pretentious slut plus I'm already a young adult so yeah I can carry it. The tragedy could be somehow heartbreaking but I eventually got over it soon. It's fine for me since it is has a realistic synopsis. The thought that at some point, they are all "I think I wanna die" but the next thing you know, "Let's be fucking happy you bitches!" It wasn't a total waste of time. We can really see the saying "Forgive and forget" in this anime. I also noticed how knocked up the characters were, they were sacrificing everything for music. Example, leaving your only love to complete your goal, giving up your chance to have good money and taking over a family agenda to be a guitarist, prioritizing your band instead of just studying for your lawyer licenship, and etc. Giving it an 8 would mean I'm satisfied. I can continue on living and get inspired by this masterpiece. Overall 8: I think I said enough. Nana's story, music, and characters brighten up my days. Considering how I finished all episodes within 3 days (too long isn't it), I definitely didn't regret watching this show. I learned that life won't always be the way you plan it to be. I might as well just let things hit for me and accept them but I will definitely do better. TRAGEDY and HAPPINESS always go together in life. It is inevitable. Nana isn't just another love story, but a moment of truth, friendship, hard work and so on. If you love romance, drama and realistic characters and plot, check out NANA!

* To think that a slice of life anime would be my last review for this year *
Bear with me please, I know that this might be your fourth or nth time to encounter a One Week Friends review but hear me out :D. After watching a few or maybe a lot of shounen anime with complex but amazing stories, my head got a little heavy dragging a lot of information so I decided to cool myself off and tried choosing a much more simple and not too confusing anime. Even before One Week Friends aired, I saw the lists of upcoming Spring Anime of ... 2014 and Isshuukan Friends caught my eye. Thus, I finished it and this is my last anime of Spring 2014. My point of view: *Minor Spoilers* Story line is a very important factor in an anime and definitely I gave this show a 7 for plot because it isn't original. I've watched movies with the same story that has been told years ago and even today. Movies like 50 first dates and The Vow were extremely emotional and funny. Those movies kina resemble the diegesis of this anime. Isshuukan Friends takes a step forward and picks a very similar synopsis wherein a girl named Fujimiya Kaori tends to ignore her classmates who tries to be close to her because of one depressing reason, she forgets memories of her friends every week. Usually, its always the girl who has that kind of sickness and until now, there are no cure for this devastating memory loss disease. Alas, her worries ended as Yuki Hase, one of her classmates worked hard in order to be her friend every week. Now, what helped her remember the happenings last week? Of course, she kept a diary in order to read it every morning for reminders of who's who and what's what. The episodes from 1- 8, in reality is really slow. The plot and conflict would sometimes not exist and given that this anime has some kind of slice of life theme which I would consider that everything that they do like talking, eating and roaming around with friends is part of the story. Likewise, it is the usual school-themed anime. The beach episode, the classroom episode, the misunderstanding, pe moments, cleaning scenes and so on. After episode 8, (i think) things got a little interesting. With an addition of a new character and unfolds the real reason why Fujimiya had her bizarre illness. Initially, the story focuses on friendship, love and trust. Although, there are unclear romantic relationships, I kept on thinking whether things would resolve and end up into some cliche kiss and have a relationship thing but this serie got an ending it deserved since, the story itself is quite subtle and uncomplicated. This is perfect for people who just want to start on anime. Also, everything in this anime is really fluffy. My very first anime that I didn't get irritated by the animation and yet it is produced by Brain's Base. Funny, I've seen gore and dark anime produced by Brain's like Baccano!, Blood Lad, and Durarara! and now, a very cute and highly velutinous show has entered its studio. It is amazing how high definition and modernized the graphics of anime we have today. It has a cinch drawing of the characters that suits well with the vibrant atmosphere and intricate backdrops. I really loved the art on the beach scene especially the pristine ocean and the superb sunset! I really thought it was real but to think all of this was just animation. I can't really say much on the sound effects and the OPS and EDS. Most of them are generic and this show is lacking on scoring what type of music in each emotion, vibe and scene. Things get a little awkward once there is no sound at all or the sound just isn't that noticeable. The voice actors were just as good as the others but I am annoyed by the voice of Saki Yamagishi. I just didn't like the lazy and cheery at the same time attitude. Also, I think I've heard and seen a new set of Seiyuus in this anime so nobody seemed to stand out for me. Characters were just lucid. They are the kind of characters that are just in your everyday shoujo/slice of life anime. Here we have: Yuki Hase - the plain guy who has no special personality. Just overprotective and the savior of the leading girl character. (but at least he isn't in a fucking harem) Fujimiya Kaori - the misunderstood girl at first but in the latter episodes she turned out to be an innocent and kind girl who loves to interact with everyone. Yamagishi Saki - super annoying, really lazy and I just wanted her to leave the show. Seriously, just leave. And those are the three characters that I found basically common and annoying. The character who I just liked among all of the characters was Shogo. He was insanely cute with his coolness and straightforwardness. He isn't afraid of what he'll say and he is surprisingly the most hilarious character in this serie. Even though I didn't like most of the characters, I eventually accepted them and just went on with the story like reading a page of a book and soon forgetting it. This anime was a show that I was really excited about and I have to tell you, it didn't disappoint me. It was a good ride but not an awesome ride. I want to give props on its humor level because it is really pure and cute. The fan service isn't really that big of a deal so its safe for all audiences. Also, I enjoyed seeing Shojo in this anime. He always cracks me up! Everything in this anime is just fluffy and clean. It can make a grown man cry or puke. Everything seems so flooded with uncontaminated adult stuff. The art is the strongest factor in this series and its comedy sides. If you are a fan of shoujo, slice of life and good vibe characters but isn't fond of ecchi, then boy, this sure is the show perfectly fit for you. I'd say this show is boring but what the heck, I finished it and it was just good. Try watching this show if you need a little teddy bear to hug you :D

I know that watching Fullmetal Alchemist at a year like this wouldn't be right, considering that it was almost a decade since this show was aired. Setting that matter aside, watching a serie doesn't depend on how old or how recent it was made but the moment a person realize and say, "The hell with this, I'll watch Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Ghost Fighter, Hunter X Hunter etc. right now even though they're all super old!" they just go on and try viewing it. For everyone to know, I actually watched Brotherhood before this. Now, you may think how fucked up I am and
...
how idiotic my decision was because every review in Brotherhood specifically said, watch the original first but I didn't really pushed through that advice. So why the hell did I watched Brotherhood before this? I was baffled by its score and I thought that it would be pretty crappy but it turned out to be super awesome. Now, after seeing an outstanding masterpiece, I kinda miss the show and without further a do... here is my review of the original and classically made Fullmetal Alchemist (2003). Note: no comparison of Brotherhood and this series will take place so you won't get annoyed.
Story: 8 Of course, the original Sci-Fi novel made by hiromu Arakawa is splendid and creatively made. By using the main power or the main ingredient, Alchemy and incorporating various characters that revolves around it. The story ventures on a European era that partakes in the year 1800's - 1900's. It is a story like no other but on the other hand, Studio Bones took care of its other half and completed the story by themselves. The first half, I think was completely loyal to the manga. It entails the journey of Ed & Al as they embark many obstacles in order to retrieve their normal bodies. Yes, it has many fillers like in every episode they meet a different character but end up failing to get suitable information. Also, you guessed it, it is pretty slow paced. The second half (I think starting from the second half of season 1), the staff ended up writing a different plot in order to lead a new conflict and theme. The storytelling may seem absolutely understandable and decent; however, the ending and the plot twists didn't sit too well for me and for the series itself. I get the idea and the point of Bones where you will see a new side of the Alchemic world but the truth is, it just didn't leave a good impression. Arakawa's work will always be classic, traditional, old-fashioned and well-thought but what this anime did may be a little injustice. Adding a modern twist to the ending just made things worse and also some of the characters that were left behind were just not useful to the plot. Evidently, I wasn't satisfied by the the ending but I didn't hate the anime on a long shot. On the contrary, I believe that the comedy impact was swell and amazing and also the episodes even though they are too long and it takes almost 2- 3 episodes to explain what was happening, they execute the story perfectly making everything not too rushed. The ending was just its downfall and everything that piled up and made a curtain call was just too forced. On the bright side, I appreciate the theory on how the Homunculus are made (that was a genius part of Bones' writing). Character - 9 The character development on this show was definite and spectacular. It completely introduces the characters on a productive scale and leaves a good impression in every single one of them. Sure Ed & Al are always the focus of the plot but giving more knowledge on who the Supporting characters are and how they interact with each other was just wise and organized. Showing back stories as well gives more definition on each character. My only concern is the lack of recognition of characters like Selim Bradley, Winry Rockbell, Von Hohenheim (in this case Light Hohenheim), and so many more. They didn't have to make them unuseful and those characters deserve more roles other than whining, dying, and being a cliffhanger or something. But I am grateful that they shown more of Roy Mustang's gang and what their doing and stuff, more history of the Homunculus, and a bunch of other stuff. Art - 8 Details are much shown and visible. I am fond of seeing old styles of art in anime. In this case, it reminds me of Hunter X Hunter and other 1990's anime wherein the lines and shapes are intricately drawn. It may not be HD but its got one hell of an impression. It isn't really comical and consistent when it comes to action, comedy, and dramatic scenes so it is alright. For some people its graphics could be a handful and uncomfortable to watch but seeing how it grows, it is most definitely captivating. Also, it isn't entirely sloppy. Sound - 7 FMA is known for its audible soundtrack with openings that has fast tempos and catchy lyrics and endings that would either have upbeat tones or slow and steady rhythms. Usually, when I think of FMA's OST we have alternative rock, rock and heavy metal (since it is dark) but out of all the OPS and EDS I only had an interest on Larc En Ciel's Ready Steady Go! and "Melissa" by Porno Graffitti. Most of the time, fans like almost all of the songs but I can only find two of them memorable. Ready Steady Go! sounds so playful and rusty at the same time. Melissa is also playful and it reminds me of a beachy kind of atmosphere. The background music were just original and natural. Leaving every episode with no dead air or awkward times. But, I have to be honest, using Beethoven's Symphony 5 isn't the best move. I recall that it was played at a very wrong moment which just made things unsuitable and disputed. The voice actors were intact and were really in character. Whether in english or in japanese, everything seemed so perfect. Overall/Enjoyment - 8 I wanted to joined these two categories together because let's face it, it would just lead to one answer. The story itself made things a little smashed up. The comedy level increased but the dramatic interpretation of the story was just not good enough for me. Many fans say, "Brotherhood did not made me cry enough as much as the original series" but in my case, I didn't cry one bit in the original. I'm not comparing or anything I am just saying an honest opinion. Yes, this anime is dark and heart-breaking but the approach of the sad parts were just too blunt for me and needed extra jolt on the drama level. I enjoyed its simple pacing but the plot itself and how everything was finished was just too fast and inexplainably horrible. Still, this goes without saying it but the original writer has still more in store for us and I honestly believe that Arakawa's lead to the story is much more compelling but both stories do give a different perspective to the fans. I recommend this to all you guys who are waiting for a show that has one hell of a ride and an incredible story to tell to watch FMA and its remake, FMA : Brotherhood. Both series are equally exquisite and unregretful to watch. Although, I am in no position to advice this but do watch the 2003 version before Brotherhood. Do not be an idiot like me. Tips: 1. Do not search pictures of FMA on google, you will see spoilers. 2. Stop liking or viewing its website, you will also see spoilers. 3. Never read reviews that has no spoiler warnings. 4. Do not watch amvs unless you finished the whole anime. 5. Watch FMA and FMA: B or else you are missing out something really awesome.
