I do agree the 2D sprites have more charm to them than the new 3D models... I actually tried crafting my own 3D models based on Disgaea before 6 came out, and I find theirs are at least better than what I started off with 😅

Tho that's not the main reason why I'm not all too hyped about the newer games, it's more like since the fifth game even, it just generally looks less like Disgaea, and more like a different game series altogether. Plus the pricing for 6 and 7 actually looks pretty obscene compared with earlier games. I can't say what I think about the new Phantom Brave just yet, but I reckon I like Marona's original style a little better.

I'm also with you on the original Disgaea 1 cast being the most iconic out of them, and it's something I've been meaning to replay for a while now. I think 4 is best when it comes to story, while 3 is second best when it comes to characters, third with story (that's also the one I've played the most overall). I've also considered playing Makai Kingdom again since I bought it on Steam; I did play the original version a while back, but didn't get very far with it. I decided to watch all the cutscenes for it on YouTube so I'm familiar with the story at least ^^

Same, I think it was something like 12 years ago when I got introduced to the DS version of the first game. Played through just about every game except 6 and 7 since then ^^

csm is not a good recommendation to someone who is new to anime, it is horny af and very unusual and weird (this is coming from a big csm fan). But Look Back is a powerful story about getting absorbed in your passion and dedicating your all to it. And yes, I agree that it was a tribute. I don't get why people think that all the questions need to be answered. As they say, show, don't tell. It's okay if not all the details are resolved because that was never the point of the story to begin with. You can just make assumptions about the other girl that she had a rough family situation and that works. Some pieces of media require you to read between the lines, and this is one of those imo.

CSM anime a 10 and Look Back a 6 lmfao alr buddy. Your entire criticism was "it's too short". Well... it's a oneshot. Not sure what you expected. Idk if u wanted them to throw in some filler or something to increase the runtime of the film, because if they did that, I personally think it would of truly detracted from the overall meaning and message of the story. Just like the manga, it was a nice, short, concise film that did everything it needed to do. Literally a perfect adaptation. Idk what else you could've asked for.

To me, a '10' represents perfection, an ideal that’s almost unattainable. Perfection, by its nature, doesn't truly exist—it's a concept, an aspiration, not a reality. That's why I hesitate to give anything a '10' because that would imply there's nothing left to improve, and that, in itself, feels like an oxymoron. It is easier and more sensical to give a '1' rather than '10'.

I was curious to know, how could anyone with their right mind rate "Sousou no Frieren" as 10! Just to see you rating that L show "Chainsaw Man" as 10...

when ppl say timeless classic they obviously talk about the light novel or the first anime (most likely the first anime), not a new take at telling this story that just came out (even if this is the same story, the way of telling it, the music, the cinematography, all of this plays into the fact that the old one was considered good and this one is kinda mid compared to it)

so ofc you're not gonna understand why this is a timeless classic if you're not gonna watch the timeless classic version (altho not everyone agrees to consider it a timeless classic lmao, a bit of an exaggeration here but it's cool to some public who search a different approach to the development of characters relationships in anime, also the content of the story itself (well, economy based))

Based Frieren review, of course any story relies on some archetypes, but like you said, it's refreshing to not have to deal with gimmicky tropes that have threatened to make me feel burnt out when it comes to anime as a whole medium.
