Both shows are relatively laid back, do a good job of capturing scenery, and feature cute girls doing outdoor activities. The main characters in each of the shows are also similar and face similar struggles. They are both into crafting and very scared of the outdoor activities they end up engaging in, but with encouragement from their friends and a lot of practice and determination they are able to face their fears and find fun in the new activity! In Houkago Teibou Nisshi, you can expect to learn some about fishing, while in Yama no Susume, you expect to learn similarly about mountain climbing. Both center around 4 main characters who are at various levels regarding their outdoor activity, and they both cary much the same chill, fun, and down-to-earth vibes. If you really like one of these shows, or want a show with a similar feeling, try checking out the other!

Maoujou de Oyasumi

Both shows have a similar type of humor, and are ultimately very lighthearted, fun, and show demons and magical characters in a non-traditional setting, playing on and parodying common media tropes. Both anime feature fun characters, centering around a cute girl, and, most importantly, despite being primarily comedies, both shows feature a surprising amount of genuine heart. You really start to grow to love the characters by the end of the shows, and both shows have some really touching moments. If you liked one of these shows, I highly recommend the other!

Granbelm

Many of the similarities between Granbelm and Madoka Magica are somewhat superficial, but I couldn't help but make the comparison nonetheless. Both star a cute high school student with mid-length pink hair and a name that starts with the letter M who has a mysterious female counterpart with long black hair and a relatively noble cause. The pink hair girl gets sucked into the world of magic and fighting against the black hair girl's initial wishes, and the MC meets a medium-sized cast of characters who each have different passionate reasons for fighting. Lastly, both feature some sort of crystal/gem is tied to each of the magical girls in the show. Aside from these more superficial similarities, both shows contain some similar themes and ideas, and just give off a similar vibe. For example, the main characters of both anime seem to have pretty similar personalities and face a similar dilemma, both struggling with their own feelings of self-worth and wanting to become more than just average. Despite all these similarities, the shows are still definitely different enough from each other to stand out on their own. So if you typically enjoy magical girl series of the more intense nature, and if you liked either one of these shows, then I definitely recommend checking the other show out!

Tamako Love Story and Kase-san and Morning Glories are both extremely cute movies that focus on a romance between two high school characters that will be graduating soon. Both shows have the same lighthearted and fluffy feelings along with great emotional moments and extremely charming characters. They are the type of movies that will have you smiling really big, and maybe even hiding your face in your hands a little bit as you experience the main characters navigate their feelings of love and affection for the first time. Both are stellar romances, and if you like one for any of the reasons I stated, odds are you'll find the other just as endearing!

Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight
|
Hibike! Euphonium and Revue Starlight may have pretty different premises, but they both actually seem to be more alike than they are different. They both have great music, wonderfully animated and beautiful scenes, and revolve around a semi-large cast of mostly female characters all working towards a tangible goal. In Starlight, this goal is to be top star which drives the characters to compete against each other, while in Euphonium, this goal is gold at the band competition which drives the characters to seek to work together, but overall the feel of each of the characters striving with all their might to improve feels largely the same. Each character is dynamic and work with the other characters in different ways, and the main lead's closest "friend" in both works (Hikari in starlight and Reina in Ephonium) drive the main lead forward in very similar ways. Overall, if you liked either one of these series, I highly recommend you check the other one out!

Koe no Katachi

Tamako Love Story and Koe no Katachi both wonderful anime movies, and if you liked one I highly recommend you try out the other. They both benefit from the stunning direction of Naoko Yamada, who brings an irreplaceable sense of nuance to her works. You can tell that thought was put into the layers of each and every character, and Naoko's talent for subtlety expressing thoughts and emotions are well exemplified in these two movies. There is some overlap between the themes of the two movies as well, namely communication and lack thereof, and both have romance elements (though Tamako Love Story is much more of, well, a love story.) Overall, despite having different genre labels, I'd say that if you enjoyed one of these movies you should definitely check the other out!

Yagate Kimi ni Naru
|
Though Hibike! Euphonium and Yagate Kimi ni Naru seem to be about pretty different things on the surface level, there actually are a lot of similarities between the two. Both shows seem to have the same sort of feeling while you're watching them, and they both heavily rely on character drama to drive the plot forward. More superficially, both are school-based drama's that place a large focus on a club activity, and both start with the main character's first year of high school. Though Yagate Kimi ni Naru displays more obvious LGBTQ+ elements, considering that a developing intimate relationships and romantic feelings between girls is at the core of the show, Hibike! Euphonium also contains its fair share of yuri undertones that will not disappoint. The art, animation, and sound of both these shows are also wonderful, and I highly recommend that if you enjoyed one of these shows, you should definitely check the other out!

Both She and Her Cat: Everything Flows and My Roommate is a Cat focus on a human and a cat as the main characters and explore the profoundly meaningful relationship that can foster between an owner and their pet and the large impact that cats can have on their owners lives. My Roommate is a Cat is more comedy oriented while She and Her Cat seems more subtle, but both shows deal with more mature themes than the typical cat themed kids show and are sure to touch the hearts of anyone who knows what it's to share a meaningful bond with a pet.

Mob Psycho 100
|
Though Mob Psycho 100 and Kotoura-san are undeniably drastically different series, with the former being primarily a fast-paced action series and the latter being primarily a drama-focused series, I urge anyone who enjoys either of these shows to give the other a chance. Though the pacing and genres of these shows are different, in both you'll find touching coming-of-age stories about main characters who struggle to come to terms with their psychic powers. Both have their fair share of comedy and light-hearted scenes to go along with their heavier scenes, and though I would argue that the comedy in MP100 is better timed and hits more often than it does in Kotoura-san, Kotoura-san definitely still has it's share of funny scenes. If it matters to you, both series also feature school-settings and have some focus on different clubs. Once again, these series definitely both have some of the same strong points with supernatural and coming-of-age themes, and if you liked one for any of these reasons, I highly recommend checking the other out!

Both of the shows revolve an underdog main character who rely on their determination to achieve their goals, despite others looking down on them. The stories both take place in schools, and have a large supernatural/superpower element that are very important to the story. Some of the villains in each story have the same sort of feeling, and both stories balance exciting action scenes with an appropriate amount of character development and calmer scenes. Both main characters have an important man that they look up to, and their motivation to be like and do right by the character they look up to helps drive the story. Both have a fun cast of supporting characters with a variety of different personalities, conflicts, and powers. If you like one of these shows for any of the elements listed above, I definitely recommend checking out the other one!

Both movies take place in rural japanese environments and revolve around the main character's interactions with yokai/supernatural beings.
