These shows are not similar in plot, but rather in look, style, characters, and pacing. If you are looking for a show that tosses aside anime stereotypes to tell a real story, you will NOT be disappointed. Both SnM and SnK take advantage of strides in 3d animation to tell Amidst beautifully rendered backdrops of a feudal society and traveling space ship respectively, these shows are about real people, real consequences, and a sense of "being there" that few other shows manage to accomplish. Add on pitch-perfect pacing and these both become 10-hour movies. Each show is 26 episodes but both are tour-de-forces in their own right. If you enjoyed one, you will absolutely enjoy the other.

In many ways, the plight of Dornkirk and that of Z-ONE are one and the same. Both are old men with deep voices, one with a machine, well traveled in the world, whose sole desire is to remove darkness and despair. The desire to create a new world in one's own image is a very common underlying theme, and can be seen influencing the stories of both anime. Both characters are also willing to listen to the things that others have to say, particularly the protagonists, and their well-travelled nature allows them the luxury to make such acceptances. Though the tragic fate must befall men of these statures, their ambitions are pure, but their goals naive. You can also see similarities in the psychic powrs of Akiza and Hitomi, which play a major part in many aspects of each characters development (no pun intended). These shows are also alike in the fact that thier characters are never the same, and constantly run into things that change them for better or for worse.

Both anime are about a somewhat dim-witted irresponsible main character who has the princess of another planet after them, whose father is hell-bent on destroying the human race. Both are good ol 80s style, but you will find that outlanders is definitely the abridged version of Captain Tylor. If you like space drama action then definitely check it out!

The silent supersoldier is the sword in the hands of whoever wields it. It matters not who they answer to or who they are, but how they fight and what they accomplish for those who commissioned them. Both the characters from Phantom and the Spartan supersoldiers went through alot for their organizations. Stealing children and subjecting them to Rigorous training and augmentations with a high mortality rate to create a silent, deadly killing machine that carries out orders without question. Though it could be argued that the UNSC fights for a noble cause, the fact still remains that the process to create the SPARTANs was as bad, if not, worse than what Phantom's supersoldiers went through. Also the fact that these two shows both have blonde supersoldiers named Cal is not a fact that need be overlooked!

Oh tales of forbidden love. I do feel sorry for both Eleanor and Hermione. Pretty girls from the same rich caste as the men, who both Romeo and William's fathers liked, and who, in turn, loved/crushed on thier sons. must be really sad to know that the man you love and who you would marry does not love you back. And that you are a part of the tradition he is so desperate to leave behind.

Much like the Gold Tribe before them, the Forerunners saw the Humans, in this series, called "Reclaimers" as the true heirs to their technology, just as the Golds left to the Iron Tribe their legacy. Each series also features a highly advanced enemy civilization who has been studying/worships these ancient beings, seeks to find them, and claim their knowledge, and is upset at the fact that human beings possess something that they dont, for which there is war and fighting. Also each human faction has thier own savior, for the Iron tribe it is Age, and for the Humans/Reclaimers, theirs is the Spartans, specifically Master Chief. These saviors/warriors lead both groups to revelations never thought possible.

Tegamibachi

The similarities between these two shows are uncanny. Starting with the protagonists, who both are very emotional, have white hair, are considered special/unique, have a red left eye, and care about making sure peoples dreams are delivered to the end. though tegami bachi has a lighter tone to it, they both revolve around an errant boy who lost those close to him, and who is taken in by an organization that sends its members to different parts of the world to do jobs, be it delivering letters or performing exorcisms. they are both set in dark worlds, and feature pockets of civilization that are oppressed by the enemies of both series, be they gaichuu or akuma. Both these enemy types manifest themselves as beings whose souls have gone/are trapped, and are manifestations of evil. it is the job of both main characters to kill these creatures, yet they choose to take on a more humane way of doing so. throughout the story, the characters meet many different people and help out in many different situations, are berated by supporting characters for their actions, and ultimately make everything turn out okay/learn something new about themselves in the process. basically both anime are about reaching deep inside themselves to stand for something more than their job description.

Both series are rife with inconsistancies and plotholes which are never fully explained. they start out great presenting this idea of a utopian world, but soon shows that all is not as it seems. the worlds and styles are very similar, but could have benefited from a longer run time and more character development
