My Anime/Manga Journey
I first got into anime when I was 12 years old with Spy X Family. Before then, I used to think that anime was stupid and cringy. But now I have realized that I was very, very wrong. After that, I started watching Naruto, then Demon Slayer, and many other major titles. Eventually, in the summer of 2023, I went to my first anime convention, Anime Ohio. My experience there taught me that anime has tons of content to offer, leading me to buy a Crunchyroll subscription. After that, I watched more and more anime until I got to where I am today. I plan on continuing to watch anime throughout my lifetime. Anime has also led me to love Japanese culture. I've learned to love Japanese food, architecture, and of course, anime. Currently, I am studying the Japanese language and learning to draw in the manga/anime style.
My Japanese Studying Journey (So far)
Back in November 2024, I decided that I was going to learn Japanese. After getting really into anime, I started looking at some other aspects of Japanese culture, and I found something really amazing. So I made it my goal to learn Japanese and move to Japan! I started by learning Hiragana using Duolingo and free resources from Tofugu. Then I found Makoto+, which is a subscription service that provides a lot of reading material and helpful lessons. Eventually, I started using WaniKani, which is a great way to study Kanji. WaniKani is a Tofugu service that uses spaced reptation to lock down each Kanji into your memory. It's free for the first three levels, and then it becomes a paid subscription. I now use all of these sources and more that I haven't mentioned to continue learning and studying Japanese.
