Spy x Family Movie: Code: White

Loid Forger, an elite spy, is warned by his handler that he may potentially be reassigned from his ongoing mission, Operation Strix. To maintain his position, he must make significant progress toward the operation's objectives, which involves having his adoptive daughter Anya earn sufficient Stella Stars to become an Imperial Scholar at Eden Academy.

After learning of a cooking contest that awards the winning student with a Stella Star, Loid researches the judge's preferred dessert to help increase Anya's odds. However, perfectly recreating the judge's favorite meremere requires more than just following a recipe. Thus, the Forgers embark on a vacation to the Frigis region to try an authentic meremere. Not all goes smoothly on the trip, as the Forger family ends up entwined in a sinister plot to reignite war between the countries of Ostania and Westalis.

Wholesome, endearing, and filled with passion, Spy x Family Movie: Code White delivers on creating a heartfelt message of love and unity despite sometimes foregoing a believable narrative. The pleasant sound design and gorgeous animation laid the foundation that spotlights the crucial family dynamic. There was plenty of creative expression in a variety of scenes, and the movie was genuinely pleasant to watch. However, as this series goes on, grounded and relatable resolutions to problems are often placed to the side in exchange for comedic beats or visual spectacle. While there can be room for this, it should not overshadow the sincerity of the writing.

Mixed Feelings

I don't know why people want this to be canon lol. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the movie as a spin-off.

Fans get to see silier versions of the characters while movie-only viewers get to see the events that made the series what it was (albeit in a slightly different light).

All this without the series needing to justify any continuity errors, repeat scenes or characters acting out of character.

That said, I didn't enjoy this movie as much as I thought I would. It felt different enough from the series that I couldn't help feeling a bit put off. I can't quite pinpoint why though as I ... don't think it's due to any particular scene. More like the general feel of the movie.

I will continue to be in the vocal minority of not enjoying, liking, or seeing the appeal of the Spy x Family series. I am so glad that I watched this for free on anime website, instead of wasting my hard earned money to see this in a movie theater. This isn't a "if you don't like it, then do watch it" type of deal. This is more so of an idea that you are seeing too many people being blinded by piss poor character arcs, a not well rounded out supporting cast with the exception of Fiona. To say well this anime is what ... you could recommend to a new anime fan. No the hell it is not, wake up people for the love anime WAKE THE HELL UP. This movie was a glorified episode of Spy x.Family, added with toilet humor. In what day and age do we still need toilet humor is our animes, OVAs, ONAs, movies, or specials at all? It is such a disservice because it made the entire movie so much less enjoyable. I already get enough flack from individuals who I know for not liking this entire anime series. This movie made me feel like season 3 of Spy x Family will not get any better. This isn't supposed to be the norm where an anime gets worse and worse at it progresses. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. The drones of people who go online and defend this entire series from start to finish, just blows my mind. Like, what do consider to be good that this anime is making you not see the flaws.

Don't give me "Well it's a family focused anime with action", all I see is a series that can't decide on what it wants to be. I don't need to sit through even a minute of Damian and his two step stools, Becky, or the school because it's the law of diminishing returns. I am not saying people don't need to hate this anime, but what I am saying is please reconsider that if Spy x Family is good. Then, please reconsider recommending anime to other individuals if this is the standard. There are so many animes out there that don't get a second season, a part two, a third season, or.let alone a movie. Those animes get the back burner, but no Spy X Family. Again, unbelievable. I can't fathom being a homer for this anime. Again, if I went to a movie theater and saw this I would have walked out. This money didn't make me laugh, cry, happy. It made me feel constant disdain, and the only saving grace for this movie was Fiona.

WAKE UP PEOPLE. Please, I ask that you really rewatch this movie and a random episode of Spy X Family it is the same shit. Just one is longer, and just bad. I could never in my life recommend this to a newcomer to anime, and I haven't nor will. This movie was just a huge disappointment, let down, and overall where I see the standard of how anime movies can be the norm. If toilet humor is the course, then that's where Spy X Family: Code White is for me. In the toilet, and as an anime fan this made me feel embarrassed to be an anime fan.
