The Climber (Kokou no Hito) is a story brought to us by Sakamoto, Shinichi and its about an introverted solo mountain climber Mori Buntarou on his journey to ascend the k2 eastern face which is said to be the hardest mountain in the world to climb. Before we get that though the story starts off with Mori transferring to a new school where his classmates push him into climbing to the top of the school which he succeeds in but almost falls. After the matter, he is lectured by Oonishi, Masao a teacher at the school. Oonishi, Masao then encourages Mori to go climbing

by a mountain near the school which he refuses at first, after that he's encouraged to join a climbing competition by Oonishi, Masao in exchange for climbing shoes. After the competition he gets into climbing.
Art. The art Shinichi Sakamoto creates in this story is amazing in every way whether it be a mountain the city or the simple details on someones face it always looks great.
The only things this story struggles with are its characters even though there are plenty of amazing characters throughout the story there are just as many characters with major fall offs throughout.
"Kokou no Hito" explores several profound themes, including the relentless pursuit of one's passion, the triumph of the human spirit against insurmountable odds, and the isolation that often accompanies the quest for excellence. It also touches on the fragility of life in extreme environments and the emotional toll that comes with it.
One thing that stands out to me in this story is the main character mori himself. He may seem like some edgy protaganist at first but throughtout the story he goes through major character development and grows as a person as time goes on.
overall this story to me is an undenaible masterpiece in everyway from the amazing art to journey of mori ive loved everything about it and i encourage you to give it a shot.
