I liked this series quite a bit, but epilogue ruined it for me. If you don't mind spoilers, I'll get into more details later.

Generally, if the first chapter hits you in the feels, you will most likely enjoy most of this.

It is a romance manhwa, which brings with itself certain artstyle. This series is about midway on the spectrum of "coloured manga - 20cm eyelashes" and it is a nice fit for this IP. It manages to strike right ballance between dreamy and "realistic" and fits the mood well. All of the combat scenes, besides finale (which is a bit stiff and confusing), are very ... well drawn, considering they are not the main focus.

Overall plot really stands on a mystery element. Reader is fed bits of information that change the perspective on what is going on, however it really feels like one read only story. Without desire to know what is really going on, it has no other way to drive reader interest. Many plotpoints are flashbacks, they repeated several times adding more information as the overall story progresses.

Characters are a bit predictable and stereotypical, but at the same time likeable. There is enough drama and mystery to keep you going, while romace elements are very wholesome.

And now for the bad... I personally, HATE it when wholesome, almost platonic romance is finished with THREE CHAPTERS OF BASICALLY HENTAI. It ruined the mood, didnt fit the vibe at all. Leave that to fanart, ffs.

Also big finale battle is a bit... not good, but mainly in execution. How all the plotpoints were resolved is fine, and even the fact that most of the plotpoints have somewhat satisfactory conclusion is good.

But epilogue is just bad. It tries to forcefeed you extra dose of wholesome and tearjerker moments, only to cheapen it by p orn. There is a flashback full chapter long scene that doesnt fit the vibe of the characters. Also having heroine go full frontal after being fully dressed for over 100 chapters with 0 fanservice... (she wears long pants ONCE, jacket and pants is basically the most revealing scene in the main story) It just doesnt fit the vibe.

Either go ecchi from chapter one, make that stuff part of the picture or don't do it at all. Trying to fix 0 fanservice with p orn in the epilogue is just dumb and bad writting.

I thought this would be just another funny work life anime along the lines of New Game! or Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to The Animation. But no. This has some funny scenes, yes but... It has so many uncomfortable moments.

It could have been good. Animation is nice, premise seems fun, artstyle is fine. There are so many dirtier or more questionable anime out there. It would be possible to explain this to somebody suddenly opening the door to your room. But nope. Unlike Yosuga no Sora or Redo of Healer this is just... bad.

Underage girl being manipulated into doing stuff out of her comfort zone, nobody ... respecting her boundaries, pretending to perform on her sisters friend aka guy who has known her since she was a baby... And second episode went event further... nope for me, this is creepy.

Clown v straight man comedy routine put on its head.

This anime will try to make you believe that warrior Alvin is the straight man and the world is your usual fantasy setting with evil monsters and such. And that Carla is the idiot clown who can't even do her one job. And that is why you will hate it.

But think again. Monsters are actually chill and helpful and Alvin is total amateur. His lack of understanding how his world works is in my oppinion the core of comedy in this anime. I'm still not sure if Carla is supposed to straight man or if ... she is just trolling him but she deffinitelly is not the clown of this anime.

And as someone who played a bit of World of Warcraft and sometimes even in the role of the healer, I laught really hard on this anime. Carla gives me the vibe of "I'm staying in shadow spec until you idiots stop standing in f ing fire!"

It's 2020. Asocial zoomer and MMO addict gets transported to fantasy world. After getting filthy rich on crypto, GameStop and other WallstreetBets fun they can live the perfect life - near constant MMO grind in VR.

But this fun cannot last forever. Developers think this girl gets too much content out of her subscription and her refusal to spend any time on alts puts her way ahead in leaderboards. So they decided to turn her into a furry and isekai her (fortunately, notorious child murderer Truck-kun was not involved).

Kuma-chan arrives into a very generic fantasy world which has one quirk - even with all the ... magic and 15th century technology they haven't figured out how to transport eggs or catch chickens and raise them in cities. So several episodes are spend solving this stupid b. s.

This Kuma Kuma Kuma Yogi Bear thing is fun and very 2020. If you have spend several weeks stucked at home, grab a six pack and you will enjoy this. If you are completely sober, healthy and sane... it's 50/50, depends how much you appreciate generic but decent isekai.

If you read LN, this is a letdown. If you didn't then it's decent but quite forgetable CGDCT anime in isekai setting.

Yuuki Aoi as Asuza was great and some of the ofther characters had really good voice acting too but it seemed like they didn't have fun making this show. Episodes skip around LN and for some reason they always left out the best parts. All the stuff that actually makes this series fun are not in the anime.

My biggest regret... THEY SKIPPED THE WHOLE STORYLINE WITH ZOMBIE CAT GIRL GAMER. And absolutelly murdered music festival arc - they only put like 50% of it ... in anime which turned one of the best LN arcs into the most boring anime episode.

It's not that bad, vibe is great and overall it still is pretty enjoyable. And since I like LN a lot, I can't really give this a bad rating but still... great example of how you can turn amazing source material into mediocre blob of boredom.

Is it trash? Yes. Is it obviously low budget? Yes. Is it fun to watch? YES!


I love enjoyable no drama anime that is perfect for R & R. This anime is exactly it. Main character is guy in his 30s which immediately makes him more likeable than many other anime protagonists. Support cast is a collection of well executed stereotypes. They are exactly what you expect and all of them ended up very likeable.

Animation has little movement and many still frames but it comes of as retro. No crappy CG. Art style seems a bit generic but girls looks cute, guys cool and overall ... it fits very well with the animation. It also have some parody elements which make all the generic and bad stuff seems intentional and fun.

To sum up. I will take this trashy isekai over Marvel movie anytime. I have just rewatched, no, binged it for third time and still like it very much. So, grab your favourite snack and drink, turn off your brain and enjoy. This anime delivers. And way better than many others.

Simply put, Machikado Mazoku is heartwarming slice of life with a spin - which is magic girl parody.

Sound and animation are average, they don`t stand out in good or bad way and when they are needed to deliver punch line, they do just that.

Since it is slice of life show, it`s episodic, but some overall story is present event though it misses a proper goal.

As a character driven comedy, it doesn`t disappoint in this regard. From all the possibilities (terrible people, weirdos, stupid v straight man etc.) it choses tragic characters. And makes them adorable. Main duo is ex-child soldier with ptsd living ... alone almost unable to take proper care of herself and kind, gullible, weak girl, who just wants to get along with everybody, tasked to fight the former to escape misfortune and poverty.

They are surrounded by other incompetent characters clumsily trying to get on with life or reach some vague goal. Overall message of this anime seems to be kindness and not giving up in face of your own incapability.

Art style is a great fit, since it supports the aforementioned cuteness and positivity.

Machikado Mazoku is a great example of uplifting comedy that doesn`t take anything seriously. There is a tendency to compare it to Gabriel DropOut, but thats more because of the setting (with this one you feel pity and need to support the characters, in Gab most of them are just adorable a-holes).

Edit: I watched till the end and nothing about this review really changes, but MAL won`t let me rewrite number of seen episodes.
