Both lighthearted good comedies, at times giving more serious messages . Very likable characters. Lots of high school action.

Both are beautiful slice of life comedy with bright colors. The characters are very likable with their peculiar personalities. Both set in school.

These both are very good romantic comedy-school life anime and they are quite similar to each other. The humor, characters and even the setting quite similar to each other. The handsome male protagonists are characters who are very successful at what they do however they have a soft and delicate side that only the female protagonists can touch. The female protagonists are self-reliant and strong characters that bring the whole group together. Besides the hilarious emotional adventures of the main characters, eccentric friends of theirs makes you laugh. In both anime, the story set in a very Western looking and exclusive environment with exclusive students. However in contrast to others the heroine comes from a rather common environment which make her more relatable. If you watched one and liked it, there is a very high chance that you will like the other too.

Chihayafuru and Haikyuu!! are both great sport anime that maintain high tension throughout the episodes and seasons. They both make you cheer for the teams that strive for victory. The emphasis on teamwork and little friendship dramas are similar too. While Haikyuu!! has more of a comedic style, Chihayafuru has a little bit more romantic elements.

In both of them there is passion and crazy love triangles.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun and Ao Haru Rideare both sweet but not cheesy romantic comedies. They both have protagonists that are clueless about dating. While they both will cause a storm of feelings, I think Tonari is a happier anime. Also I am amazed by both of the anime's art.
