90 Days is a revenge story centred around Angelo Lagusa, a man whose family was killed by the Venetti Family when he was a child. The title of the anime comes from the fact that this story of revenge takes exactly 91 days. Although the overall story is your typical revenge thriller, 91 Days strays away from typical cliches and tropes; we don’t get characters with generic designs with no defining personality. 91 Days is morally grey, it is not “black or white”. It doesn’t follow the route of “revenge is not the answer”. There is no “hero” in this story, some characters are
...
just more evil than others. I appreciate the fact that this anime doesn’t pull any punches, there is no plot armour. Regardless of the importance, a character brings to the story, they can all die at any time. A few of the themes 91 Days explores and showcases are the nature of vengeance and its cycle of hatred, cold determination vs. compassionate doubt, sacrifice, empathy and how it shapes our perspective, and finding a purpose in life to give meaning to our actions, among others. If you are looking for a vengeance story, this is 91 Days is definitely worth watching.
The plot development and pacing were exceptional. It all moves at a steady pace, is easy to follow, and makes for a fair amount of exploration, but it never gets stuck or drags on. Every time you think the dust has settled, that the story has reached a stalemate, or that the story has simply lost its focus, a certain event or character twists the plot in a new direction. And the best part is that it's all completely natural! Nothing is ever done because it is absolutely necessary for something to happen; it never feels forced, and the characters are never puppets of the plot's desires: everything happens for a good reason within the context of the work.
The characters in this story all appear to be real and alive, with plausible behaviours, thoughts, and actions. They are the ones who advance the plot, not the other way around. As a result, all they do is justified, as it is generally in their best interests based on their personalities and beliefs. They all act as if they're the protagonists of their own stories, seizing every opportunity that comes their way. This provides them with a strong sense of agency and connection to the plot, resulting in its organic structure. Characters and events are intertwined in such a way that it keeps things interesting, entertaining, and coherent. There are numerous plot twists, all of which can be explained by the background and nature of the characters. While this may lead to the ability to predict a fair number of them, the good news is that they don't depend solely on the shock, as watching them unfold and the aftermath is the most entertaining part.
The characterization and development it weaves into the voyage, as well as the tones and moods it manages to shift through, get you invested in the large cast. 91 Days shows us the many faces of its cast of characters and lets their actions speak for themselves, allowing the viewer to empathize with them as the plot moves along. Even characters with limited screen time manage to convey a great deal of nuance and steal the show. All of this combines to create an exciting, gripping story that isn't devoid of emotion or meaning.
The soundtrack and music are very fitting for its setting and moments, the most prominent flaw is probably the animation.

The concept of Death Parade is very intriguing. In this world, there is no “Heaven” or “Hell”, instead we have “Reincarnation” and the “Void” (it’s a main point in the show that these are not the same). It’s a very character-driven story, and I believe that the characters that were explored were fleshed-out considering the different people introduced in each episode as the series progress. In regards to the main protagonist, I find Decim well-written and I think his character breaks the stereotype in which psychological thrillers were about murderous and mentally powerful characters. The only slight disappointment in relation to character development was that
...
some were either unnecessary characters or had an unnecessary buildup for characters considering how the show ended.
Death Parade has many layers and it has a great philosophical and emotional impact. Individuals are put in extreme situations to access if their soul deserves a second chance, and the show does a great job at portraying what human nature is. Love, anger, loneliness, revenge, sadness are all part of Life and Death; feelings of Life touch your heart while Death exposes your true feelings. Death Parade asks interesting questions about the meaning of life, the ability to communicate and understand others, who we are as people and does so from a consistent point of empathy. The ending especially was very touching. The anime brings you to realize the value of life and urges you to live a "fulfilling" one. There’s a commendable balance of emotions throughout the show, it isn’t overbearingly sad.
Death Parade is quick to point out that no one is truly angelic. There is some darkness hidden within each of us—be it jealousy and envy or something far more disturbing. This raises one of the series’ major questions: Is it right to judge people not at their best but at their very worst? However, when someone else begins to despise this method of judging, Decim starts to doubt as well. The setting is perfect for this story as it gives a grim yet lavish feel. The animation is beautiful and the soundtrack matches the story’s every moment. Death Parade’s complexity is worth watching.

Violet Evergarden is truly a masterpiece. Personally, it has made itself a special place in my heart; it’s so incredibly beautiful as it pulls on on all my heartstrings. The storyline, characters, animation (not to mention one of the most beautiful art styles I’ve ever seen), and soundtrack are all so perfect. It possesses deeply moving scenes that are heartbreaking, inspiring, and heartwarming all at the same time. Although some will argue that the actual storyline isn’t groundbreaking, it’s executed in the best way possible with the most divine story-telling. The characters are well constructed and the anime has the ability to make you feel
...
fully connected with the main protagonist, Violet Evergarden; it portrays the characters' pain and emotions realistically and in a genuinely moving way.
I really value the simplicity Violet Evergarden presents, and through her, the audience learns the fundamental truths of love. It’s not as flashy or as extravagant as other anime you may have seen, nor does it feel like it’s forcing itself to be different from most television, for honest and plain words captured my heart. There are no twists or turns that are meant to shock the audience, it’s just a simple story that goes off in many branches. It doesn’t fixate on action or the battles of the war, but something deeper. Human emotions. People express themselves through word of mouth and writing, however, Violet Evergarden is about finding the meaning of these words, learning how to love, and becoming human. In Violet Evergarden, it’s just three simple words: “I love you.”
