...then you might like 3-gatsu no Lion add

Now, no one ever mentioned 3-gatsu no Lion when they recommended Hyouka to me, but I think you would easily love this one if you love the other. Something like 3-gatsu no Lion is definitely what I was looking for when I asked for 'similar anime to Hyouka', because I don't mean it story-wise but instead more like another anime with a similar atmosphere, something that can make you feel calm and fascinate you with its calmness. Something with a lot of metaphors in it, something that tells a story in poetic kinda way. Something that has depth but also feels light and just let you drown in it without suffocating you. Something that has a certain angle to its camera that creates intimacy between you and the anime you're watching. Many people miss this and just mark Hyouka as some anime about a detective wannabe, so they recommended me with another detective anime, not that it bad or I blame them for it hehe, I'm still grateful for their recommendation but still, it wasn't the one I was searching, so I'm just happy when I stumbled upon 3-gatsu no Lion because it's everything I ever wanted in a slice of life anime just like Hyouka. Both are warm and beautiful and sweet, at the same time both also hold some kind of bitterness in it. Both main characters are also a teenage boy in their first year of high school. They share the same messy black hair and beautiful green eyes, Kiriyama did remind me a lot with Oreki ever since the first time I lay my eyes on him. They also share the same wild imagination when they're thinking or imagining something, both doesn't have a lot of friends at school, both are great at a certain ability, both have at least one cheerful friend that help motivate them to go forward. Both are beautifully animated, both are slice of life anime and both anime are from two well-known studios. What are you waiting for?! Go watch it already!

...then you might like Hibike! Euphonium add

They're both from KyoAni. The atmosphere is pretty similiar too. You know the one that makes your head goes "Ahh, it must be based from a novel!". Both animation is real high quality, I mean c'mon, it's KYOANI. And I do think Kumiko and Oreki character are similiar in some ways. Just try to watch it, if you like one of the show, you won't regret watching the other.

...then you might like Prince of Stride: Alternative add

The two show is definitely similar. Pretty and good looking boys? Checked. Chemistry between the boys a.k.a fujo-bait? Checked. Beautiful animation? Checked. And Fujiwara, God, he definitely look like Haru, I just can't stop my inner thought to scream "HARU!!" everytime I see him, I mean just look at his face! and his hair! and his obsession with stride just like Haru is with water. And of course Kohinata and Nagisa with their yellow hair. And their words about the wind too, the difference is it's water in Free and not wind hehe. Definitely should watch this if you like Free, but the plot isn't as good in my opinion. That's okay, you'll still got the flashy animation and the bishounen (y)
