Maybe this would have been better if I read the manga. As a standalone movie it's not very good.
There are good parts about it, like the art and animation, which is gorgeous. Although you can tell from the style that this is an older anime, it does not feel outdated, and if it was for the art alone it would be a 10. I liked the last 20-ish minutes and how there was a payoff. I liked the atmosphere of Neo Tokyo and it would have been interesting to explore more.
Everything else is.. not very good. If Akira had been a TV show instead of ... a film, perhaps more of its themes could be explored in depth(although this risks sacrificing the quality of the animation). The story is vague- I understood that basically there are people with a lot of energy(?) and they caused World War Three and created an apocalypse and the government decides to exploit children who have this power but lo and behold, it backfires on them. There's a lot of violence but no meaning to it, which reminds me of shounen anime rather than a seinen anime. The pacing is not very good either- there will be action upon action and suddenly a character will go into exposition or a half-baked philosophical rant. I also did not like how Tetsuo's powers were undefined- one day he's just some loser, the next he suddenly becomes OP and nobody can defeat him because he conveniently has all the powers in the world.
I respect Akira for being such an influential film but I don't think it's anything awe-inspiring, and from this film I wouldn't be motivated to read the manga either.

Everything about this is average and not super interesting. The art is alright and the character designs aren't horribly ugly but forgettable. I thought it was original that the anime would center around older people but they do not really look "old", just like they have bad haircuts and one wrinkle. The music is forgettable. The characters are not super interesting. The setting is Italy but there is nothing really "Italian" about it, it could have been set anywhere else because the only influence of Italy is the characters occasionally saying Italian words. I really don't like the voicework: it's either ill-fitting (Olga sounds ... like a overly happy go lucky 16 year old when she's at least 3x that age) or doesn't do much for the character (everyone else). Basically 100% forgettable.
It's alright as a time-waster; if you like slow-paced works this is for you.

I think it's impressive that this was the work of one man. With that being said I don't enjoy violence for the sake of violence. Midori suffers just because. I did not find the violence extremely shocking- I think for violence to be shocking there has to be peace before violence, but the whole movie is just violence and there is no shock. For example the dogs. I did not expect the dogs to live, I expected them to be murdered because the movie wants to impress on the viewer what violence is like, therefore I was not shocked when about 15 seconds after the ... dogs were introduced they were murdered. I did not care at all.
I did appreciate the metaphor of the circus people who raped Midori being like rats(if you watch the scene with Midori's mother you will understand what I mean) but I was underwhelmed with the movie otherwise.

This is basically a moving picture, but also not. Sometimes the animation is very good and sometimes it looks like the creators just gave up and just have stills. The art is mostly the only good part, but then there was no need to make a film, just make a bunch of paintings... the music was alright. I do praise the art but it really feels like Jeanne only has two facial expressions, which is odd when it juxtapositions her empowerment/orgasm and her humiliation/rape.
Mostly the film feels gratuitous with its violence against women. There is no need for so much rape, murder, and brutalization of ... random women and closeups of their genitals. There is a whole scene where it's just animated sex and rape of random women all together in a circle on Jean's hair; it feels almost like the creators are getting off to it. I do like when films bring up social issues but this film doesn't do anything with the social issues it brings up. It's just a miserable 90-minute-montage of Jeanne being humiliated, raped, and murdered, that happens to also have pretty visuals.

I think it was alright. Most of the film felt just like buildup to our ending(a very horrifying, deep ending) but I didn't feel engaged in the film because of how saccharine it was for quite a bit.
Woe and Chirin have a most interesting dynamic, the art is pretty nice in its Disneyfied pastoral way, and the music is also nice, I guess it might traumatize some younger kids, the plot is not very original, the characters are kind of flat until the end.
I like that it didn't go the way of "predator animals are evil! We defeat them and live happily after!" but ... instead it teaches that predator animals simply do their best to survive in a cruel world.
I can't say much about the movie other than that.

This is really funny show and I like how the main character is not an entirely pure-minded person. I feel too much nowadays people a re afraid to make protagonists that are really not great people without giving them some sort of redemption arc. Onizuka is a pervert and a rude idiot but it adds to the charm of the show and I like that he stays that way.
The art is so funny and so is the show and Onizuka himself, and his interactions with the students as well.
I just wish that Onizuka would have sometimes have actually faced consequences for his actions. At first ... I didn't mind but it's not as fun to watch him and his dangerous antics while knowing "it's not really dangerous, there are no stakes, he is not risking anything".
Otherwise I really recommend watching it.

The only thing I can say that is really nice about the film is the background art.
The characters are either cliche or annoying. Ginga is a poor country girl allegedly and yet she acts like a spoiled city brat and it's not charming, especially when the characters scold her and then later say "oh she's so special she will surely be the empress". She's not quirky just annoying. (How can it be that she doesn't know the difference between male and female when she's grown up among farm animals..?)
There's also too many tonal changes which is really annoying.
It looks like a Ghibli film without the ... charm or complexity of a Ghibli film; looks like the character designer of this film also worked for Ghibli..?
A waste of time.

I think this show would have been really good if it kept to the question "can something non-human that takes the form of a human become human...? What does it mean to be human? Is our humanity granted to us by right of birth or by other humans?" Because wow what an interesting concept, especially when tied in with Gugu's arc. But it uses the same tear-jerking thing of "Fushi makes friend, friend wants something, Fushi like an idiot doesn't save friend from impending death, friend dies, now cry." 3 times in 12 episodes. There's also the "Creator" who can't defeat his own creations and ... needs the orb to do that for him. It could have been a very serious, beautiful anime, but it begins to fail around the 10th or so episode. Maybe the manga is better.

Production value is very very very high. The art is amazing, many of the character designs are not bad(a lot of them are very cliche though...) However the story is lacking and kind of stupid. Yukimaru is annoying as hell; I know he's supposed to be the "bad boy" but he's just. Ugh. No personality besides being uptight, stuck-up, and looking into the distance with his "deep black eyes". Obviously he will be Fena's love interest and have some deep dark secret and after Fena uncovers it they will become closer and blah blah blah...
On the other hand I really do like Fena; her ... naiveté and determination are really charming. I also think Otto and Salman are very funny, it's too bad they don't show up more often.

I don't think Bungo Sray Dogs is like a really fantastic show, but it's fun to watch.

BAD:
a. The tonal consistency is really, really, really bad. You'll have a gun fight, and then there's a random comedic moment, and then back to gun fight, and then awkward emotional moment, and then ok back to guns.
b. Plot is rushed towards the end of the season. In the last episode everything gets wrapped up nicely. There are also many plot holes. One moment a guy is stabbed through his throat and he's bleeding to death. But then because a friend of his with no healing ... ability shows up he is suddenly healed...? There's also 2 main plots in this season that aren't really related. The first one is about Dazai and Chuuya and then they are basically irrelevant for the 2nd half of the season. And the question is why have the first plot if the main characters involved soon become irrelevant?
c. Abilities of authors start getting really contrived. In the other seasons they were vague, but reasonable and sometimes even clever. But here characters are introduced that have abilities that have little to no relation to their actual work, because plot points have to be hit. Goncharov wrote a work called "Precipice" or "Cliff" centered in mundane life and therefore he can create golems...?
d. Speaking of Pushkin they really did him dirty. The founder of modern Russian literature, one of the greatest Russian poets of all time, a charismatic, attractive genius- he gets turned into an ugly fat weak foolish man, and his ability was not even something he wrote, just something he translated.

THE GOOD:
a. The characters are amazing(except for Pushkin) and the voice acting is phenomenal. I think in this show there is not a single poorly written character(except for Pushkin). Dazai's always very enjoyable to listen to, Miyano Mamoru is very very very talented.
b. Music design is very good, I liked it a lot.
