To begin with, Captain Tsubasa is one of the pillars of soccer sports manga. The series aroused the curiosity of many fans all over the world during the 80’s & 90’s with its fun, unrealistic and entertaining approach to the football games, and some decent soundtracks that came with its anime adaptations mixed with memorable moments as well as childhood memories which brought out the passion of this sport in little kids & adults alike. Additionally it opened the door to several sport titles that came after it. Captain Tsubasa 1983, tsubasa J & Road to 2002 adaptations were the go to for fans of
...
the genre, in the times when TV had a selected few animated shows airing way before the Interwebs. Also, to this day it has maintained a solid fan base that remained loyal throughout the years. After a pleasantly aesthetic reboot of Captain Tsubasa 2018 which had a promising initial birth, contrariwise, Captain tsubasa junior youth hen has fallen to mediocrity.
After that Tsubasa Ozora won the national school tournament in japan while playing for Nankatsu SC whilst not taken to brazil by Roberto Hongo, he joins with team japan to win the junior youth tournament's cup situated in France playing against opponents from European & south American national teams.
-I tried to summaries the most important points written bellow in this review for the people that don’t want/like to read everything, it’s a first time so hope it’s clear.
*The strong points:
- A continuation to the previous season.
- Voice acting is decent.
- The grass quality is improved. (soccer stadiums)
- The pace of the soccer games is balanced.
*The weak points:
- Bellow average production
- Almost non existing atmosphere which feels like the real life football games from 2020 (Covid’s empty stadiums)
- Cheap looking CGI when the players shoot at the keepers which symbolizes each ones special move (strike) that lost its charm and hype.
- Soundtracks not up to standards, the selection is lacking tremendously and there’s no variety.
- Cheap visuals and the lack of quality presentation of the matches, capitalizing on short edit cuts to minimize the clunkiness of movements of team plays either on passes or defense.
- Nothing improved from the classic manga, which made certain scenes look like it was made by record of ragnarok’s production team.
- Not as fun to watch in comparison to the older Tsubasa animes.
This adaptation is awful in comparison to the 2018 version where there at least captured the spirit of the old series in a modern way. It’s pretty clear that the overall execution is night and day between David Production and Studio Kai. It is plagued with inconsistencies throughout, along with the cheap CGI used when players shoot at the GK, like Hyuga’s tiger shot, Tsubasa’s Eagle shot, Matsuyama’s Wild Eagle Shot etc... whereas those were the most enjoyable moments in the series back then which they definitely butchered, it’s kinda similar to the signature moves that you see in martial arts anime. Changing studios always sux and the entertainment value is lost completely. Sure the matches aren’t as long as its predecessors but loses at everything else be it key moments hype or the emotion conveyed through the action of the main team characters.
There are some reused scenes from the 2018 version and you can easily spot the differences, this season have a lot of inconsistent art and the overall direction is obviously different. Unfortunately even the sound is bellow the standard which normally is the least you can expect to be good; It feels lazy and lacking overall. The adaptation does not add nor improve anything from the manga where it leaves the most important aspect which made the franchise popular which is the dynamic approach to soccer games in term of team play and a huge lack of sakuga in the majority of this season. The plays are generally dumbed-down to short edit cuts for each pass, crossing or shooting motion. It’s like a slideshow that is the equivalent of stills of colored manga panels during the impact-full moments. As a result, it detracts all the fun aspects and emotions from those actions. The atmosphere is non existing during most of the matches which reminded me of the 2020 pandemic football where no one was allowed in stadiums. As a consequence, you could only hear coaches, staff members & players voices on the ground.
If you watch sports of any kind you may know that the cheering part is crucial in them. It is an important part and it is always present either from small teams to the bigger ones. There’s no chants or songs made for the teams playing. Slam dunk & Haikyuu as an example use crowds that cheer their teams on and off the battle ground which ultimately adds some succulent flavor to the matches as I like to call it. Furthermore, accentuating the sound can elevate the experience. It’s just the bare minimum imo that is required but is underwhelming here. It is your typical bellow average production, sure nostalgia sometimes can cloud your judgment on shows you used to love. However when it isn’t entertaining and it doesn’t respect the hierarchy of what a good product should be, you get an anime like captain tsubasa junior youth arc.
All in all, keep your expectation low. It is a bare minimum plain adaptation that serve only as a continuation unfortunately. Although, the 2018 adaptation gave me a slight hope of a new fresh start with huge improvements on its predecessors, Captain Tsubasa junior youth hen takes one million steps backwards with passable wonky graphics and bellow standard sound design... Thus, nothing is improved upon either from the manga or older adaptations. If you’re craving some captain tsubasa juice sure go ahead give it a shot you may like it. However, if you’re a picky person or you have a limited time on your hands, choose a better sports adaptation from a known studio e.g. Production I.G, David pro or similar.
“This season feels like an unexpected breakup with your first love, and it does sadden me a bit.”

If you liked the show “Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai“ releasing right now in the spring season 2024, then this manga is for you if you want to delve deeper For more context on what happens on the side of the princesses. Pretty much the events are connected beautifully, where this manga focuses on what happens in the Sakura Palace side, whilst the anime is showing some of it as well as the main focus which is on the prince Wakamiya and his personal attendant.
To begin with, this is a must read, the overall narrative that happens in the Sakura palace between the women is
...
engaging. I liked the chit-chat in this oeuvre. Although, historical dramas aren’t my forte but I’m confident that many people will enjoy it, the characters are fleshed out really well and you get sucked in immediately by the charm and seriousness of the plot.
There are a lot of amusing scenes like when the prince skips meetings with said princesses's that get them mad after getting duped by him whilst going elsewhere several times. At the same time the eventfulness in the palace is both exciting and memorable.
There are 4 princesses that compete against each other to be chosen by Prince Wakamiya. Said females will do anything to win him over. It is a slow burn series, that isn’t boring cause of the multitude of diverse personalities that clashes in a rich historical setting.
The art is gorgeous to look at, the backgrounds are vivid, and the execution is excellent which bring out the essence of human emotions really well. I liked the character designs a lot because of how much mature and expressive it looks. Additionally I personally loved the details done on the hair along with the facial expressions which is an artistic créme de la créme from my view point. Matsuzaki, Natsumi absolutely nailed it in my book.
The dialogues are not shallow nor dull, likewise This is a Compelling story that is character driven. Hence, it's what makes this work shine the most through its exquisite cast.
Read this manga it’s totally recommended!!
If you’re interested in a well done historical drama manga, In the same way that if you liked the anime “Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai“ you will adore it since Karasu ni Hitoe wa Niawanai adds a lot of details on the princesse’s part beside their goals which equates to more depth on the setting as well as substantial context to the events that are connected to the anime “Karasu wa Aruji wo Erabanai”.
This series is a hidden gem that deserves more attention imo.

This manga changed my perspective on relationships and how difficult it can be to confess to the one you like, it felt close to home in several instances. This is probably the best school romance manga I've read so far because of how immersive & realistic its story is and the diversity present between the cast which is brilliant. I would recommend this piece of fiction to anyone reading this review because you will absolutely adore Skip to Loafer's story and characters.
The plot is straightforward, our *MC Mitsumi grew up in a rural and remote area of Ishikawa Prefecture whilst excelling in academics since she
...
wants to help with her family's financial situation. Her goal is to take part as a government official which she doesn't take for granted. You actually see her striving to learn and develop throughout her time in high school as a council president as well as a top student. She has several friends from the country she's from and Tokyo with Nao-chan her Aunt where she's currently at.
The secondary cast is not there as a cardboard but they strive to accomplish their personal goals as well. Each one of them feel like his/her own protagonist in the same dimension as Mitsumi, they feel like real people having different objectives, hurdles and struggles to get by which accentuate huge depth behind their written traits and personalities. Therefore, they detach themselves from the usual dull and lifeless characters that you encounter so often.
Now on the technical side of things I like the character designs a lot because it emphasizes each of their personality so well since you distinguish the differences on their facial expressions e.g when angry, sad, happy... And, the overall felt presence.
The art is great, distinguishable from other works and beautiful. Moreover, it's easy to look at and to identify what's happening accompanied with detailed backgrounds.
TAKAMATSU Misaki aka the Mangaka of Skip & Loafer did an amazing work with his characters which materializes in
the romance & drama portions as an example. Also, it's a realistic approach minding their age group of course. So, there's no dumb monologue from the characters and between the couples, there's times you will cry with them in addition to laughing in other instances. Hence why I was drawn in instantly to the story from the first chapter I read which is quite rare frankly. This feeling perhaps was a subtle connection on several layers of human and emotional aspects and I found genuine attachment to both the main and supporting casts.
*Although, I felt that Iwakura Mitsumi was still my favorite character from this manga as cliche as it sounds like lol, she's an interesting full package which is likable and relatable along with the rest of the crew. Like the way she isn't afraid to speak out her mind whilst standing her ground firmly when surrounded with jerk personalities despite being the most loving person.
I didn't touch on the most important plot points so that you experience the manga firsthand like I did, I watched the anime when it came out and was already invested in it but I gave out some time after it ended airing to objectively start fresh.
All in all, this is one of the few works that I would wholeheartedly recommend in a heart beat, it's so masterfully written that It touches your heart and mind on several levels. You're surely to be swayed into the Skip to loafer's unique ride . This work of fiction gets a full mark hands down from me. Furthermore, I'm looking forward to what's coming next.

This is one of the most dull, abysmal shows that got adapted this year so far.
The story is simple and straight forward in terms of writing however the atrocious pacing, unlikable characters and animation leaves nothing to be desired.
The games always have the same structure, knowing Hiroto is the strongest student on the island, others challenge him to take away his status. Using any bullshit ability and granted help by a maid Himeji and a computer hacker that control results. Making him invincible.
You don't feel any real stakes that challenges the MC that much, games structures are confusing in some parts whilst overall not
...
engaging at all.
The technicality side of things is really bad, along with the production which overall feels soulless.
I suggest you to skip Liar Liar all together since the experience is dreadful.

Cat's eye started strong but couldn't maintain the same quality after the first couple episodes, ultimately it isn't a bad show. it has some decent ideas but they are badly executed. Keep in mind that this is an old anime from the 80's.
Plot armor is always present to protect our three protagonists whenever they're stuck in a hard pinch, Deus ex Machina mechanics are used there to amplify & cover up any mistake done by the Cat's eye group.
It's quite similar to the Lupin series, although the goals are completely different from each other. Cat's group steal back their dads collection which contains paintings, jewelry
...
etc... to amass clues in order to find him. They don't care about money or fame.
Beside it being an older series, animation is average, nothing extraordinary. The art and character design are pretty good for its time, although when the shots is taken from far away, the characters usually look horrible however the close ups are fine.
The ost's are not varied enough to say the least, it's only used in tense or run away moments. Despite that the opening and ending music & direction are unique and creative!
The romance aspect is blend and limited to petty behaviors that doesn't evolve & go nowhere for the couple. Toshi, Hitomi's fiancée is one of the dumbest written characters! his sole purpose is to be used as a plot device to facilitate the escape route for the three thieve sisters. They always outsmart their opponents with bs plot twists that make no sense and aren't even funny.
The action parts are a let down, it lacks creativity & fluidity in a lot of fighting scenes. It's always drawn in a fixed static shot with the character doing one move at a time then it cuts to the next move and so on. It has very few humorous moments whilst it becomes repetitive quickly after some couple instances.
Apart from our main three gals, the majority of the villains and cops are one dimensional and always fall for the same bs technique patterns over and over. The police department looks like clowns whenever cat's eye is in for the steal. The males in this anime are dumber than a snail, there isn't a middle ground to balance things out. The female characters is what made this interesting although whenever a male is present, it's the same stupid behavior & bad decision making every time which is annoying to be fair.
All in all, Cat's eye is hardly worth a watch. It has some nice classic design and decent music, however the plot is underwhelmingly bad and repetitive. I guess if you like classic looking anime and maybe if you're intrigued by it you might give this a try, the characters never evolve in this anime and the comedy does not hit most of the time.

Do you want to get bored to death? Do you want to get irritated while watching characters having the same annoying repetitive arguments nonstop? You will barely finish an episode trust me.
Overall this was a horrible watch, the characters don't evolve they stay the same throughout the show. The relationships between the girls are always stuck on childish behaviors. The main lead is a dumb f*cking written main character that only cares about her Façade. She wants everyone to like her through blatant lies.
Then you got Sumika whose jealous of people having relationships within the workplace, and she does absolutely nothing to stop it,
...
like really bruh... Let people f*ck for Yuri gods sake..
The rest of the characters aren't even needing any explanation because they don't have any depth or things going for them. They're just there to serve customers and fill up the space so it doesn't seem empty although it technically is.
Pretty much all the shitty squabbles happen in the café and it is a cheap and trash rock bottom content that makes you want to punch the writer in his sack 2k times.
I thought this will be a genuine Yuri (girl's love) romance but instead got a shallow story with annoying characters that don't have the means or the quality to them.
All in all, if you love drama this is not it. You will only get anger issues and boredom syndrome elevated even further than normal. If you're easily irritated by dumb annoying characters like me stay away from this.

I don't know why did WIT studio even work on this, after so many great titles they had produced ranging from Shingeki no kyojin to Vivy to this mediocre product.. It's strange.
The plot summary is basically Miracle wants to become a successful Virgin tuber like Kizuna Ai.
the overall experience is terrible and would not recommend it to anyone, If you're accustomed to "Vtuber culture", it still doesn't have anything exciting to offer at all, you only get weird, unimaginative and an empty shell of a story. The character designs are cheap and bellow average whilst the overall animation is hella stiff and boring, a
...
lot of static shots and painful brain damage.
If you despise 3D animation, then you will hate it since they use it a lot especially in the music performance sequences which is what you find on vtubers youtube channels so it's low effort from their part. Only kizuna Ai's sequences are somewhat average but the rest is really poor.
The dialogues and overall writing is bellow baby comprehension level which is one of the most cringy things I've seen so far in anime medium. Like : "Oh wow! I'm lacking the skill to speak so "I need to learn to speak better". "Kizuna Ai was the best I love her so much".
The side characters are all one dimensional and add nothing to the already boring narrative, even the ultimate goal set by Miracle is laughable. And what's worse is that they have a prize for being the best cringy Vtuber creator Which no one would ever care about.
All in all, there's plenty superior shows this spring season 2023 to watch so don't bother with this one as it doesn't have anything special to keep you entertained. The music is trash, the 3d and 2d are cheap as hell and the story is just abysmal.

I love how Onimai spices things up, Mushoku tensei did the same and I enjoyed looking at peeps losing their sh*t wherever someone brought how awesome it is. Ofc Onimai isn't at the same level but it doesn't need to. This show treats the psychological aspect of a shut-in in a wholesome way.
Now showing characters in swimsuit is deemed over sexualizing... A big humm right there... People like this are just soft.
The fanservice goes by very fast and isn't really that bad as these guys make it seem to be. The majority of animes do these things and I find that Onimai uses fanservice
...
really well. It isn't the focal point and not that suggestive to say the least.
-The opening and ending are creatively done and shows the passion put by the animators to portray the emotion of characters.
Also the animation is top class for this kind of shows.
-The plot is easy to get into and most importantly FUN! The comedy is above average and executed well to show girl's struggles like when they shown Mahiru experiencing period for the first time. And how she changes after sometime into a more socially driven person when her sister brings some friends to meet her. Then go back to school and start over her life which was destroying her thoroughly.
-I've got to learn the hard way that what most people think is always bend into personal feelings and not critical enough sometimes that make some shows look even more bad than what they really are.
-Overall
*Controversial shows like this always comes out and yet while the mass dislike it, they always pressure you into believing it's bad while it isn't. Where you skip it and miss out on some great content.
*ONIMAI is a show worth checking out with how impressive the animation and how interesting the characters are. If you tend to be turned off by some small swimsuit shots (which are minimal and isn't really that big of a nuisance) then just pick something else I guess.

Tonikaku is really a special anime! Romance genre stories typically take a long time to establish the love part in because probably either the MC is stupid as f*ck or just a dense motherf*ck.
This show actually goes straight to the point AND I like that! I must say the dialogues are so good in this show also its comedy is splendid.
-Plot
The plot is really nice and heartwarming!
For sure the MC could've been better off if he was less shy dealing with normal behaviors with his wife but nevertheless their interactions make up for it.
-Characters
Imo the show's strong points lies within it's
...
characters and I must say they are all lovable, It's soothing to the human soul.
The main couple in this series are so sweet your insulin will go up but not the extent of diabetes but much worse than that (maybe you'll get fatter or something from it)
Again, this is how romcoms should be, straight to the point, highly entertaining dialogues and most importantly dirty jokes. I find the funny elements well executed and really masterfully done.
-Animation
Pretty good directing, the scenes express what it were meant to. A lot of cuteness in the show and you see the care put in it.
-Sound
Holy shiet the opening is so good, it vibes so well with the overall atmosphere and of course the song is so hype for real! Soundtracks and especially VA's brought to life the funny side of each character and accentuated their personalities, even the side characters had their own ambiance.
-Overall
People need to laugh more in these difficult times, so as much as cliché as it seems like, it felt like when you're sleeping and having a good dream that you just don't want to let go off lol.
A VERY HUGE BIG GIANT LARGE MEGA SUPER DUPER ULTRA 9/10

I don’t understand why people focus on small things like it’s a show for adults or kids, there are some peeps who keep their kid side even though they’re older. This is a show that is for everyone as it conveys good messages to lil jimmy's and adults (It’s an universal underrated masterpiece ). This show have some crazy adult themes with no sexual content, so It's a safe show to watch with the family. What I like is that It's a show that is smartly done and both the younger and older peeps can enjoy it.
Back in the day saying that you like anime
...
is like literally a death sentence for your social life, so I had some fun with that stuff for a while until it began slowly but surely to change later on thankfully. And cyborg 009 is a great example of a show that gives output on how great animation can convey special emotions to the audience. It isn't mainstream by any means but It stays as a true classic that delivers whenever you watch it.
I have many memories with Cyborg 009 as I watched some parts randomly on tv long ass time ago, while being a kid I felt different things at the moment like sorrow, fun, cool heroes, they work as a group complementing each other’s abilities, staying true to themselves, missing their countries, fighting back against evil entities and never giving up when the situation became dire.
This is a rare anime that you could watch with anyone be it young or old which is F*king amazing… They talk about disasters, poverty, war, homelessness, greed, culinary, love, family, unity and much more. It didn't matter to see blood. I didn’t even feel like it was needed to be shown as we have cyborgs here so you can understand when they’re in pain, the way they convey it through little details is easy to understand and follow. It's a smart choice made by animators.
This series is really old by today’s standards and I understand that, it may not appeal to you graphically (visually). however, For me
It's a timeless series that goes beyond the test of time which is powerful.
The cyborg’s as you know have different backgrounds and different personalities so they clash more often with each other on the decision-making side of things, I find it interesting to see the humans side of them which brings up the tension and mindless arguments that make them hate the opposite side without listening nor give a chance to understand situations , find solutions to the matter as an example which is relatable to me. Working with a group of people is always is a hassle and a pain in the ass.
They get emotional when they are forced to kill robots, and they sympathies with them despite knowing that it's needed to be done for peace even if it's painful. Cyborgs 009 and 003 for instance shows it a lot throughout the story.
The SAKUGA parts are extremely well done overall whereas you kind of see the small details , the little bits of creativity sprinkled here and there that display an outstanding art that transcends the usual tropes and barriers between animation and some themes in real life. It has one of the best fight choreographies I’ve seen in anime. I wish to see that kind of dedication on the battle genre as it lacks this level of detail.
The music is powerful! and what I mean by that is It's used carefully. While listening either to the opening, ending or sound tracks. I tend to sing along with it and get hyped up a lot whenever I start anew episode. Additionally, they chose precise moments to use nothing but silence which elevates the emotions & experience altogether. But yeah, the sound design of this show is a great 2nd layer to the animation which despite its antiquity, it still holds the overall atmosphere really well in my eyes. VA’s performance is good for its time, nonetheless it didn’t ruin the experience although I would still welcome a full remaster of the whole show. I still listen to the anime's battle Ost’s, the op's and ed's are fun to listen to, at the same time the action scenes have the best ambiances but also the emotional moments.
The main group of characters have a lot of depth to them apart from 2, 006 and 007, although 007 have a solid background story I still find his role is limited in the show to being a comedy relief character and they got forgotten rather quickly where we focus more on cyborg 009.
The characters design is a matter of opinion so I don't really nitpick too much. I find it good enough, It works well with the shows themes and story.
The different cultures displayed throughout the anime is really outstanding as you get to see different cities around the world which had reminded me of Lupin III franchise, every episode after the death of Skull are small arcs, I find it hella interesting to see every character’s connection to the world through those events. After the incidents with black ghost, they kept visiting countries all over the earth scared that he may get to be revived, searching for clues and solving issues like war and helping humanity as much as they can.
Black ghost is like a mixed representation of all human villains which can be interpreted as a lot of entities throughout human history. As he keeps popping up in different shapes and forms Because people are evil by nature, I think that's one of the most important view points that came across and stuck with me while viewing this anime.
The misuse of robots is a topic that I really love about this show because it may happen in the near future (in real life) that’s why I always feel that it's a timeless masterpiece on steroids, I may have had exaggerated a little but personally as a kid back then and as an adult now there's different perspectives to catch and dive in with which brings out different meanings to the world and conflicts as a whole, also the deeper side of human emotions materialized by the created cyborgs that initially were human as well, although tempered with by scientists to create emotionless instrument. Adds a lot of substance to the main cast, as a result there's a whole package of different personalities that gives the feel of unity. Moreover it's a beautiful message to indulge in.
In my childhood I looked at it in a simpler way, seeing it like "super heroes saving the day", but now I see it as a way to represent our world in the future like Climate change or lack of application of human rights in some countries, the endless wars that still ravages this planet since humans put foot on it etc...
I personally love how they made this show close to home like for an example when they went to Africa where people were fighting for their life to free their countries of tyrants, bad leaders. by contrast when they've gone to an another world with some kind of Aliens looking like children where they tried teaching them on what it means to be a man, stand up for yourself and fight back.
If you pick this show though, watch it in Japanese because it's just better than the dubs imo. Back in the day the translation wasn’t the same as the original script because they tend to change everything to fit their narrow mind thus making it seem look like dumpster fire. I hated how they’ve done that and thanks to these individuals behind the dubs they fucked up any chance this show had to be successful, they love to censor everything sadly.
All in all, This masterpiece will always get negative reviews about its ways of representing things or because it isn’t violent enough or it shouldn’t be recommended to anyone… On the contrary! I believe that This show should be given a chance mainly being an enjoyable ride minding the time it came out of course. But at the end of the day, It's great to share the experience I love about anime using this series as an example and many other classics to bring the medium closer to all people.
‘It’ll always have a special place in my heart.’
