In my opinion, Mob Psycho episode 7 has been the best episode in anime I have seen in recent years. Whenever I listen to グレイ (by sajou no hana), which is the OST in that episode, it brings tears to my eye. It was just that impactful.
I want to talk about why the episode was great, and how it excels in making the audience moved. The episode was on the dispute between Reigen and Mob. Reigen arrogantly thought that Mob has no friends and will come back to him. But after seeing that Mob doesn't need him anymore as his life is already filled
...
with the color that a normal high schooler should have -- karaoke with friends, joyful afterschool club... anything but the taint of following a suspicious middle age man handling business on psychic power. With the realization, he tries to escape the hollowness of losing Mob by desperately throwing himself into work, which results in him being scammed. He lost everything, the reputation that he built up. At the moment when he was interrogated by the media and his fringe of collapse, Mob came to his rescue, making the mass in chaos with his power. If Mob psycho season 1 was about Reigen saving Mob from the turmoil, then in this episode, the coin has flipped. Just as Reigen said to the media, 'Mob, you have grown.' However, Reigen didn't realize, that he is the one who changed Mob.
I remember something my friend said in the past, the ultimate satisfaction of life is not to collect wealth or to earn a reputation, it is to love and to be loved. The story of Mob Psycho is about two people teaching each other how to love. Reigen 'shishou' taught Mob how to love the world as it is, his power is not a curse, but rather a power to rescue people, and that him as well can put a bright smile on someone's face. Mob taught Reigen, that as cunning and devious as he is, he is loved by an 'apprentice' who will forever continue pretending that he doesn't know Reigen cannot use psychic power, and when no one to trust him aside from his own mother, Mob will do. They are the sun to each other, not leaving each other at their lowest.
Episode 7 was so well directed. The story progression, character development, music (shout out to グレイ, it needs to be put on spotify!).. everything is in perfection. A lot of the credits have to go to ONE-sensei tho, for creating the original story.
Aside from episode 7, there are also some episodes that are quite memorable. For example, I think it was in episodes 5-7 when Mob was trapped in an illusion where he is bullied and lived a despicable life. The villain tries to tempt him to turn evil by doing this but he firmly rejected him when remembering all his buddies, his brother, and of course...Reigen. There are so many people who love him and he loves. Indeed, the entire Mob Psycho series is about the story of to love and to be loved, or rather, the courage to love. This episode reminds me of Re:zero season 2 where Subaru was also trapped in an illusional worldline (that few episodes in RE:zero was the best episodes in that series imo. LOL why are those ‘illusional world line’ episodes always so impactful.)
Lastly, I would not rate Mob Psycho II that highly as an entire series because I don’t think the last few episodes (which should be the central conflict this season) are good, at least I don’t find anything impactful to me emotionally in those. Some episodes stand out, but in order to be a 9 or a 10, there should be the main storyline that will build up to an impactful emotional moment and the audience should find great satisfaction in having that build-up resolved. Lacking that is critical. Also, I personally find the last few episodes ruining the world-building.
Overall, it is among some of the top anime in recent years. I really hope season 3 could focus on smaller daily life stories and not big conflict (like a middle age man trying to take over the world…no please no). I don’t think the story and overall vibe of the show suit well with ambitious big conflict, or maybe I am wrong, we will see:)

At first I dropped Mushoku Tensei in season 1 because I can't bear with the lewd anymore and I was very judgy with the behaviours of Rudeus. But then... I decided to give it another go because I heard the plot is good later on and there are decent character development. Hey, that was a wrong decision. The lewd continues consistently (2-3 times every episode) and the plot development sometimes also revolves around lewd (wth??). For example, Rudeus was captured in the dungeon and then the second prince come to save him because he appreciates the 'masterpiece' lewd sculpture of the magic sensei which Rudeus
...
created. That's some horrible plot development which a primary school boy would think of on the pot. Aside from this, the plot in Mushoku Tensei is nothing but boring and dull. The travelling around villages and beating up trafficker part could have been more thrilling, however, it was created in a very boring way and the plot development was very much within audience's expectation (e.g. the part where he got captured and saved the village). The only interesting plot which I can at least sympathise with was the part which he met his father again. It is interesting that a small detail, the fact that Rudeus speaks about his experience after the disaster as if its a 'fun school trip' triggered the father demonstrates how fragile the family can be, as well as the strength of family bond when they resolved their grunt through simply understanding and hugging each other. That was a small part that was good (even though I still got bored from time to time due to the slow story pacing). As a summary, it's not the lewd that made me drop the anime, it is the boring plot and meaningless plot development which ruined it. I do hope Mushoku tensei have better story later on and if it does, I would consider picking it up again

The best dystopian anime of all time period. This is my third time rewatching Psycho-pass season 1. Although the third time ride wasn't as impactful as the first time, I still thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the show and I picked up some amazing lines from the show which I didn't especially payed attention to when I watched it years ago. I like how the plot unravels firstly around some thrilling side plots, which eventually leads to the main antagonist. It is a cliche way for seasonal anime to layout its plot but I guess it really does intrigue the audience in the best way.
...
Secondly, I love the world building in Psycho-pass which revolves around a mysterious Sibyl System which controls every part of human's life in Japan (highkey reminding me of 'BIG BROTHER WATCHING YOU' lmao) including your psycho-pass which is your psychological tendency to commit crime. The setting was COOL AF and here I want to pay tribute to Urobuchi Gen who is this amazing scriptwriter who came up with this worldbuilding out of thin air and has taken it to perfection with sophisticated details which all make sense (oh yea he also brainstormed the plot of Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica, what a legend!) Thirdly, upon my third visit of the show, I deeply appreciate the character Akane Trunemori, a young and immature looking lady at the start but who became the person who defends the justice to the fullest extent even when executing injustice seemed to be the only way to save a friend. My favorite quote from her is when she said to Sibyl that the law is not the words on paper or the rules written by the dictators, law is something that has its own form and it is something that people who believes in justice bears in mind. I would end the review with that quote 'The law doesn't protect people. People protect the law. People have always detested evil and sought out a righteous way of living. Their feelings, the accumulation of those peoples feelings are the law. They're neither the provisions, nor the system. They're the fragile and irreplaceable feelings that everyone carries in their hearts'

My general impression about this work: it is a highly formulated 'full score' essay. Let me brainstorm how creators came up with Shiguang Dailiren. Firstly, lets create a very fancy concept/ mechanism, travelling through time seems to be a good one! To differentiate from other time travelling anime, let's say they travel through photos. Next, lets create the main characters. Seems like there's lots of market potential for BL, lets create the main protagonists as black hair guy and white hair guy and let's make their interaction cute (gay). Next, lets make the audience cry and create some depth by referring to dark social issues
...
(e.g. overworking, lost of ties with parents, children trafficker, the earthquake), what about just do them ONE BY ONE as side plot and the audience will for sure cry! Finally, we need a main plot. Let's make the villain someone who also has the power to travel through time! yay, we have created Shiguang Dairiren. Now, don't get me wrong, I am not saying a highly 'formulated' work is not good thing if it's done properly. In fact, I was moved by the episodes on the earthquake. Even though I can feel that the scriptwriter is trying to make me cry, I can't help but sympathise with the characters and soak up the newly bought tissue paper with my tears. However, the 'full score essay formula' only worked well in the beginning. Once it turns to the main plot, the show becomes confusing and ends very abruptly without leaving the audience a satisfying explanation. It seems that the villain is trying to 'find friends' by killing innocent people, which makes me ???? Lots of things are not explained well in the work, for example, there's a temporal paradox as everything is a 'close loop' as oppose to the parallel universe setting in 'stein's gate', why the main protagonists has the ability to travel through time, and also the motive of the antagonist. That is just to list a few. It seems to me that a lot of the things Shiguang Dailiren mentioned are just 'floating on the surface' without a solid base. And that's why I cannot rate the show highly. However, I did have a very fun time watching the show and I absolutely love the OP and ED!

Best original anime of this season, and possibly the best anime of this season.
How long has it been, since the last time when we had a decent original anime (which is not adapted from light novel or manga) with a plot so exciting and full of mystery, which sucks in the audience every second of the screen time?
Some of the things which I really love about Wonder Egg Priority.
1. The ANIMATION IS INSANE. when i talk about animation, I also refers to the Storyboard. All the fighting scenes are so smoothly designed and shows a lot of dynamics, especially Ooto Ai's jump from
...
the rooftop in ep.1. In addition, the animation had perfectly depicted and caught the complex of the characters. The depiction of their expression, especially on Ooto Ai (AND DAMN IT HER EYES ARE BEAUTIFUL), is purely art. Last time I see something like this is in Kyoto animation work 'Hyouka'.
2. The story has so much potential. Wonder Egg Priority fits into the genre of 'mystery, fantasy'. It had managed to build a unique world full of mysteries that awaits the main character to explore. The world building has much resemblence with Madoka Maagica, but Wonder Egg is unique as it focuses on teenager problem under pressure such as harassment, bullying at school, etc.
3. Character building. One thing I really like about Wonder Egg is that the main characters had motive for their action, and the motive is strong and persuasive. For Ooto Ai, it is to revive her friends, who committed suicide. Her engagement in the 'egg actions' is driven by her desire to find out why she killed herselves. As for the other members of the 4 girl squad, each of them have diff motive, one trying to revive a frantic fan, and 2 more we shall await to find out. Their background story can potentilaly create much more complexity and meaning for the plot.
By the end of the story, we can possibly get a fantasy anime as high as the standard of Madoka Magica. But, it is possible that the plot end badly. After-all, watching original anime series is like drawing a lottery
[update] oh well... what I said didn't age well. the ending was nothing but horrible
