If you are interested in any anime series which deals with supernatural and bizarre sotylines, with separate arcs in every episode, then this short series of 11 episodes is one of them. The last three episodes of this series feature the 'Medicine Seller' in the Mononoke series, which is a spin-off of the same.

Biomega
add

Biomega contains references to Blame!, Nihei's previous work. This is a standalone storyline and does not have direct connections to his other works such as Blame!, NSE and NOiSE (though, throughout Blame!, TOA Heavy Industries is mentioned several times). Plot: Set in the future, the plot follows Zoichi Kanoe and his AI companion Fuyu Kanoe, whose luminous form is integrated into the system of his motorcycle. They are agents sent by TOA Heavy Industries to retrieve humans with the ability to resist and transmute the N5S infection, which is spreading across the world, turning humans into "Drones"; disfigured, zombie-like beings. The art in Biomega is similar to Blame!, with its complicated concrete sprawl and extremely vast, empty spaces. In this manga, there is emphasis on the swiftness of the attacks made by Zoichi, such as the gun being holstered just before the enemies fall to the ground. Speed is crucial in this manga, unlike in Blame!, and the plot develops quickly.

If anyone has watched Memories, then the person shall also give Neo Tokyo a try. Since both the 'Movies' are based on a combination of three different short stories; individually, with alternative plots, the viewer may find it interesting while watching. However, another similarity between the two movies as a whole is the plot setting - bizarre and unpredictable - which takes certain turns with the varying story lines. The epilogue, in both the cases remains a sort of punny. The viewer may interpret and deduct the endings as per his/her own perspective, which varies from person to person. In either way, both Memories and Neo Tokyo, if watched one after the other will give the viewer an experience of six short anime films, all total.

Un-Go
add

Un-Go is similar to Mononoke as it deals with the life of a detective Yuuki Shinjuuro whom people refer to as The Defeated Detective for some professional results. He hangs out with a young boy who is actually a demon who's taken a human form. Yuuki often uses the helping hand of this demon (Inga) to expose the truth or the lies in people's hearts in order to solve his cases. However, it is also a limitation of Shinjuuro who cannot do anything significant unless Inga asks one question to a particular person, as prescribed by Yuuki; which people are bound to answer.

Both are animated short-films revolving around rather, narrating the lives of two girls, individually. The stories in both the works of Makoto Shinkai are narrated throughout by an unknown narrator whose identity gets revealed in the climax, in a subtle yet beautiful manner. Both the stories involve cats who form the essential element of the short-films.

Kimi ni Todoke
add

Both the anime series revolve around the life of a single girl who had to go through a lot of social and emotional issues everywhere and had to struggle through their lives when they come across one certain situation where she feels to be like the luckiest person in the world because of one or a few handful of people who make her feel special and important. Kimi Ni Todoke is more of a Slice of Life excluding all sorts of Fantasy Content portrayed in Fruits Basket but in the end, both make two different series worth watch. :-)
