Seinen, historical, action-packed, medieval age. Both main characters are based on real historical personage. And both of them starts immediately in the heat of siege warfare. Though later in the show they may deviate some more as Vinland Saga focus more on England / Denmark, revenge and exploration(?), while Hawkwood is still centered around battle, warfare and army building.

Both series have a young male protagonist with special ability to conjure shadow creature. Both protagonists gets "hunted" / they have to live in hiding. In Ajin though, the protagonist rather tries to stop the crimes of his brethren~~

By far the better one if you like: Tournaments/ duels with magic swords A strong protagonist who leads a "strong team" Fighting bugs/ monsters in a post-apocalyptic world (One is a flying city, while in chrome shelled regios we have a moving capsulated city
