Speaking of insomnia, it's 4 am as I'm writing this review, so you'll have to excuse my biases when I say "Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia" has all the right vibes for a perfect SoL anime. It doesn't overly play on your emotions by giving unreasonably tragic pasts to all the characters, nor does it exaggerate adolescent romance to the point of fantasy.
The concept of the anime, combining astronomy and insomnia, plays in perfect harmony. A sleepless night can be euphoric under the light of the stars, and it's even better if there's someone to share it with you.
The character development was pretty solid for the
...
two main leads. The story explores their tragic pasts that led to their current insomniac conditions. Insomnia can be very destructive for one's personal and social life, but with each other's company, not only did they learn to cope with it, they made their nights magical in their own way.
The art is pretty good; I'm not particularly for or against it. However, the celestial imagery really elevated many of the scenes. As for the sound, voiceover, and music, they're perfect.
Flashbacks can be annoying when overused, a sin many anime of this genre are guilty of. However, I must say this anime utilized flashbacks in just the right amount, keeping them brief but meaningful.
Overall, Kimi wa Houkago Insomnia is definitely a highlight of the season, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's okay with slow-paced slice of life anime.

Warning: May contain spoilers(actually it does)
Ouran Koukou Host Club on one of the best reverse Harem I've seen so far. The story is nothing special really, but as for the art, character development and comedy, it was everything an anime should have. Even if you're not a fan of romantic comedy this should be a good experience for you, cause there's much more to it than that and I'm yet to find a second like it.
The main character is Haruhi Fujioka, an extremely smart and equally blunt and dense scholar who gets into Ouran High School, an elite academy for the super rich(you better believe
...
it) and beautiful(not always, better believe this too). On her first day there her life takes a turn that she couldn't possibly predict and she ends up working at the host club. A place with charming boys with way too much time on their hands entertain young ladies with no purpose in life that isn't fulfilled already.
|spoiler!!!|Get's mistaken for a guy, but they eventually find out
The host club is where she meets Tamaki, the one who has a crush on her and lovers her as his own daughter(don't ask); the Hitachiin twins(I can't quite find the words to describe them); then there's Honey-senpai a 4'9" boy Lolita character who's physical strength that defies laws of physics as does any Japanese game developers; then there's Mori-senpai who's just there 0_0 well, moving on! Last but not least comes Kyouya the one who fits the requirements to be you want to be, and therefore you may or may not start hating him, but somehow he'll end up in your reverse harem list....
Story: 8
There could've been pore to it, but honestly you wont find anything lacking.
Art: 9
It's unique and it fits the the plot perfectly. Wouldn't want it any other way.
Sound: 10
Perfectly resonating background music and and rich sound tracks, but as for the opening and ending I didn't find it appealing in particular.
Character: 10
Character development is the true success of the anime and the review covered some of it.
Enjoyment: 9
Did I enjoy it? Yes! Will you? I'll be impressed if you don't.

"If I kill them, they come back to life"- a perfect phrase to describe the concept. It'll be easier to understand if you've seen Baccano.
Despite it's lack of popularity, Ajin is without a doubt an anime worth watching. Clothed in an interesting science fiction, it delivers a existing story that's quite hard to predict beforehand(except for the first past). So, if you like the psychological genre, I'll recommend it.
We often receive the concept of immortality and invisibility as set. But what if someone is neither invincible nor immortal, but instead is somewhere in between. That is the ability of an Ajin(Demi-Human). They grow old, just
...
like any human and age expire like all living things. But if killed, they come back to life.
Is that even an advantage? I don't think so, all they can do is experience death over and over again.
After the discovery of this new species of human, the obvious happens, they get targeted as lab-rats. And those who are caught get subjected to inhumane experiments. And those who escaped after being caught bent on revenge with the exception of Kei, the main character of the story.
If this sounds familiar I assume you've watcher "X-man days of future past"
I'm not sure myself, but I you keep reading, there may be a few spoilers.
If Ajins are just like human, why aren't they human? Are they discriminated base on a mere ability? Who would protect their rights?
"However, if there is such a discrimination it's obvious that ajins are far superior to humans...Mohohahaaha..."-That's exactly how Mr. Sato thinks. Who's he, you ask? He's the Ajin equivalent of Magneto. And so, to protect their rights, they unleash a rebellion against the government. Quite an effective one to say the least.
And he was like,
"You built these weapons to destroy us. Why? Because you are afraid of our gifts. Because we are different. Humanity has always feared that which is different. Well, I'm here to tell you, to tell the world, you're right to fear us! We are the future! We are the ones who will inherit this earth! And anyone who stands in our way will suffer the same fate as these men you see before you! Today was meant to be a display of your power. Instead, I give you a glimpse of the devastation my race can unleash upon yours! Let this be a warning to the world."
The main character is Kei Nagai, a high school student who only recently discovered that he is an ajin. And following that discovery hell breaks loose for him. And his path would randomly collide with that of Mr. Sato's.
Story: 8.6 The success of this anime is it's story.
Art: 6.2 The art was quite different, and to be honest it didn't work for me. At first I was reluctant to start this series solely because of it's art, which reminded me of a few anime I regret watching to this day.
Character: 7.8 for most of the character, their way of thinking is rater realistic and not all that lovable. But it doesn't apply for magneto, I mean Sato, he's quite cool!
Enjoyment: 8.0 From somewhere around the start all the way to the middle, I enjoyed it.
Overall: 7.7

I know I've overrated this anime, but for me Angel Sanctuary harbors memories I hold close to my heart.
This review was originally written in the diary of a young warrior who is no longer among us. Accused of committing high treason he was exiled from the country, but he was given a choice, either that or just watch Angel Sanctuary 100 times over and write a detailed essay on it. Unaware of the danger that lay before him he went with option B......The poor soul was found hanging in his lockup the following day.
Not to brag, but I am far superior to him for I
...
have watched it and I survived.
Oh right this is supposed to be a review.
So, the central character of this story is this constantly bullied guy with a sister complex, where his sister has an equally noteworthy bro-com. I also got the vibe that their mother has a daughter complex from her sadistic behavior towards her son.
Where is this going?
What an ignorant question! It's a battle against god of course. Why's that? I have to explain everything, don't I?
Obviously because the angels tried to destroy the earth.
And so with the power of the lead character it's up to Setsuna Mudo to defeat god and save her sister from food poisoning. Wait, what about the earth......umm...I'm sure I'll be fine, this isn't DBZ after all.

Can you love someone you can't touch? It seems you can, if you're willing to except the inevitable - it wont have a happy ending. But if the road itself is worth walking who cares where it leads.
"Hotarubi no Mori e" is piece written by Yuki Midorikawa, if you've watched her other work "Natsume Yuuchinjou", you know what to expect from this short film as it's every bit as good if not better.
What was is like being a child? To be honest I don't quite remember it very well, but one thing I recall is that I wasn't as skeptical as I am now. If
...
I were to come across spirits, ayakashi, or whatever I guess I would just go ahead and believe that they exist.
Such is the case with Hotarubi, a 6 year old girl who got lost in the woods where she met Gin, a spirit who would disappear if touched by a human and he cannot leave the woods. And so, a unique friendship was born. A friendship that would grow deeper as time passes, but it cannot bring them any closer nor will it break them apart.
Magical it may had been but the summer came to an end and it was back to the city of Hotarubi. The summer comes, and it goes leaving the yearning for each other for another year. But as it's said, "Distance makes the heart grow fonder."
And though they wish to be together, though they with to be closer, can they really be?
And so she said,"Time might separate us some day, but still, until then, let's stay together."
Time may be valuable, but we all spend it at the same pace. It gave us all we have and someday it'll take everything...........It makes me want to ask, what exactly is a happy ending? Is there even such a thing?
Story: 9.2 - The story is as beautiful as it is tragic. Every phrase was well written.
Art: 10 - A brilliantly colorful natural environment, character design perfectly resonating with their personality...I really didn't find any flaw in the art.
Sound: 9.5 - For the theme song simple Japanese classic would go with it perfectly, that's exactly what is has.
Character: 9.8
Enjoyment: 10

Shiki is one of those anime that puts you in a difficult situation, requiring you to sympathize with a supernatural species that lives off the blood of humans. So, from the psychological term it's kind of similar to 'Tokyo Ghoul' and 'Parasyte' though the plot may be quite different.
When science collide with the super natural things take a rather interesting turn. The logical way of thinking always concludes that there is is no such thing, yet circumstances says otherwise.
When oil and water is forced to mix to together you end up with a liquid of unusual texture, one that seems both watery and oily. That
...
is when you'll realize that they wont hold up together for long and one eventually needs to extracted. Such is the case here, when an unusual epidemic almost overshadowed the small village they eventually had to come face to face with the existence of shiki, meaning corpse demon.
Story: 7.2
There's nothing particularly wrong with the story other than that it's a bit slow paced, which doesn't lead to any real twist. That little gap was covered up with violence and slaughter.
Art: Now this one is a bit hard to describe....The background and the scenery was everything it should be, but the characters didn't go with it. However, it was unique in it's own way.
Sound: 8.7
The sound track may not resonate with the environment but that itself was a plus for me as it increased the adrenaline. Moreover, I found it unique.
Characters: 5.0
With a few exception, the characters were poorly developed, like most of them has no real personality and are there solely for the purpose of being there. It left me the impression that the script writer was just being lazy.
Experience: 8.0
Being fond of the 'Horror' genre I was not at all disappointed with this series. Truth be told, for an anime that focused mainly on thriller it's one of the best. It went from calm to creepy in an instant with nothing in between and the illustration went perfectly with it.
Overall: 8.1

"Usagi Drop" is perhaps the most perfect example of Slice of Life anime there is, it does the genre justice. For a short moment at least it makes you forget the complexity of life by promoting the simple aspects of life from a rather artistic point of view. If passing away some time in absolute relaxation is your motive then this is, without a doubt, just what you're looking for.
When thinking about relationships, it feels kind of uneasy to think too far ahead, or at least to the point where you have to think about having kids. Sometimes too much time passes by without us
...
realizing that we may have missed a bus. This anime is like a window to a life such as that.
Daikichi Kawachi is a single man in his early 30s. Circumstances made him decide to adopt a little girl named Rin. And the girl just happens to be his late grandfather's illegitimate child.
The life a person new to parenthood and a self independent child goes on at a lovely pace. Little things get them all worked-up, little moments bring smile. I don't think there's another anime that will take you so close to the emotions of the characters.
For such a classic slice of life anime I'll say it deserves a 9.6
