Honestly, it's been years since I last read anything about this manga. Or maybe not, as it only just finished a little over a year and a half ago.
(Just skip to the end for a quick summary. Most of this review is just restating the same thing over and over.)
So for those who are a little bored, let me tell you a story. Reading through the guidelines, it does not state I cannot give a little story about myself. So, young me, not quite savvy about the manga parts of the world yet, somehow stumbled upon this piece of work.
Now, I first came into
...
anime and manga thanks to SAO. That really doesn't mean much but at the time I truly thought it was the greatest thing in the world. I do think quite differently now of course.
Back to the review/story.
Reading Kimi no Iru Machi, I was one hundred percent engrossed with the romance at the time. Being the very young me that I was, I loved every little bit of its over the top, exaggerated, brain destroying, ball smashing drama.
Looking back on it now, I don't really understand why I enjoyed it. Truthfully, I don't remember the first arcs that much anyways. If I do remember correctly, they weren't that bad at all. Yes, in fact, the stuff I do remember is in the second half of the manga.
So here. If you're looking for a manga that you can complete, don't read this manga. The story is hardly anything of true importance. The only overarching plot that I can remember is that Haruto, the MC, is trying to get with girl B after girl A rejected him.
The first part offers quite a good teenage drama. (Like I said before, I don't remember too much except that I didn't have much gripes with the first bits).
The second part is more of a slug fest than anything.
The characters, who are already bad and boring, make irrational choices that constantly contradict themselves. The characters are like Romeo and Juliet except that they actually made sense in the first half. Haruto makes the readers wonder why any girl would fall for a guy like him. He's like harem guy except he has a personality, a bad one. I kinda wish that he didn't really, would've made the whole thing more enjoyable. He's constantly bouncing between girls, meaning that if he could, he'd do them all.
Haruto falls in love just as fast as the girls fall in love with him. The thing that really makes me dislike him though, is that he basically gave up a perfectly good love interest to pursue the main girl, Eba. I'd have no problem with this normally, but this wasn't normally. The girl that Haruto gave up was someone he was dating already, and the girl was one hundred times better, more realistic, and caring than the main girl.
First girl syndrome is fine and all, but only is she's a good and likable character.
Eba is the thing that makes this manga unbearable. If you hate her or Haruto, stop reading the manga immediately as they will only get worse. What she does is say, "I love you go out with me." and then breaks up with Haruto soon after. The time that they are together is boring and made me bored out of my mind. Once they get together, for ten plus chapters, it's just lovey dovey stuff that'll literally make one puke. Then, you know, they break up again for a very very bad reason.
It's a lot easier to remember the bad rather than the good, but the bad really is a lot in this manga. You know that feeling that you get when you eat too much, or when you lay down for too long and get a weird headache while your stomach feels out of place? Yeah, that's what reading this did to me.
The only fond memory that is clear to me is the last chapter. Why? Because the ending was handled well? Nope. I was just happy that the damned thing finally ended. If I could forget a manga just because, it would be this one. The only thing that I'd fear is accidentally reading it again. It's really like the world was slowing down when I read this. I felt like that one time when I was so sick, I was hallucinating.
TLDR: Characters make no sense. I felt like I got sick from reading this thing. The story isn't interesting and gets all messed up at the end. The art is the only good thing.

After watching the last episode I thought to myself, "Was it worth it?" The answer to that question is a simple, no. I had very high hopes for this anime and it failed to meet my expectations (perhaps they were a bit too high). BUT at least Shigatsu gripped me, gripped me by the ball sack and wouldn't let go i mean.
Although I have only watched 15 episodes I still believe that it was not worth my time. (I did see the last episode though)
The art of Shigatsu is very appealing and the animation was at least consistent but nothing I would call amazing. The
...
piano playing was all done in cg, making the hands look very much out of place.
The sound is absolutely wonderful, often being exactly on point with the current scene and adding so much more to the atmosphere. I greatly enjoyed both openings of the anime and found the endings to also be fitting.
The story of Shigatsu is simple but also had much potential. The way the start of the series was, in my belief, handled well enough. There weren't many to any plot holes in the entire story that I could see but, it went in a very very slow pace causing me to feel a slight dread within the bottomless pit that is my heart. The comedic relief scenes also felt very out of place and quite awkward, tearing me completely out of immersion. The problem with the scenes were not that they were just there to relieve the tension, as they are meant to, but that they were poorly done.
The biggest flaw of Shigatsu is certainly its two main characters. First, Kousei. He definitely develops, as he competes with his old rivals to claim the top spot and along the way understands just how much of an impact he had on these other people. And through his interactions with the heroine he is able to move on and continue to purse being a pianist. However Kousei is, in my eyes, a boring main character that gives the viewer an overall depressing feeling. There just isn't enough things about him that can make up for his monotone character.
Kaori was also another character that didn't resonate with me. Sure she was fun loving and "care free" but those characteristic just felt forced into her character. If she was a side character I think that I would have been fooled into believing she was actually having fun in the scenes but she (and other characters) very much overreact to such scenes. Another part of her that made me dislike her was that she didn't clearly convey her emotions to the other members, maybe even manipulating other "major" characters (one might say). She also had a very aggressive attitude to Kousei (for no real reason) causing me to instantly dislike her.
A large problem with the other members of the cast including Kaori, was that they forced Kousei who had PTSD to instantly do the thing that is part of his trauma without any kind of ACTUAL help or any easing into it.
The melodrama was also very heavy. So heavy that even I couldn't handle it. The constant repeating of words also annoyed me. The constant reuse of the word over and over again withing the span of a few seconds felt awkward and felt like they were trying to invoke a feeling (WHICH I DID NOT FEEL) down my throat.
Overall the episodes, including the last one, were not very compelling. The only reason I got as far as I did was because I had hope that it would turn into something greater than it was and because my friends were also watching it. I do feel like my expectations were a bit high for this anime but I also feel that I gave it a fair score despite my hopes.
I may re watch and maybe actually finish the anime in a year or so once my thoughts on the anime are not quite as vivid as they are now.
If my thoughts in the future change I may come back to edit but for now, Dropped.

Fairy Tail 2014 is the sequel to Fairy Tail starting off right where the other one left off, in the grand magic games arc. (Not going to go into detail about the story since most of those reading this will have already watched the first one) So Lucy a main female character is captured and now the gang has to go and bust her out of prison guns (magic) blazing right? Well, no. They sneak in to save her (Which is totally the smart thing to do) but right after they do they fall into a trap and now they have to escape the place
...
or die. There lies the problem with these first few episodes, they spend a lot of tine dragging things out with fan service and constantly switching back and forth between the grand magic games.
The early fights, (seeing as there are only 9 episodes out right now) are boring and don't give an intense feel like the first one does, (which I really enjoyed) all the fights this time either, drag out too long or doesn't even last for a good length of the episode (although do the the constant switching between fights the battles usually last an episode or 2).
The cast of characters didn't change and if you like how they were in Fairy Tail, you'll like em just as much in this one. All the characters though are pretty much just classic stereotypical shounen characters that we've all seen. The cast doesn't get much development (except for Ezra, Lucy, a little on Wendy, and a little on Gray.) seeing as Natsu is still the same bumbling idiot that attracts all sorts of trouble (probably my favorite character though.) The thing that really saves and stands out about these characters are their interactions.
The music is good, but the first opening is (arguably) worse than the first one.
Although it's very early to be saying this, I personally like the first one better and didn't get as much enjoyment out of this one as I did in the first one. There are many better anime this spring season (my opinion) than Fairy Tail right now such as No Game No Life and Haikyuu. I believe that Fairy Tail 2014 was just too hyped or "fanboys" just gave Fairy Tail 2014 the scores it has just because it's back or they are blinded to the flaws and think IT'S THE BEST ANIME IN THE WORLD! (there are those who do genuinely believe that it deserves a 10 who are or are not "fanboys".)
It may seem like I'm hating on Fairy Tail but... okay I am hating on it a bit because of the crazy amount of 10s it has for almost no reason and being higher ranked than shows I believe to be far superior (such as No Game No Life, Kuroko no Basket, and Chihayafuru) but I am a fan and will be following it.

Oh man, going into this anime I honesty had high hopes. I really should have known better.
Story
The start of the anime was pretty good. It starts with two normal high school living their normal lives, while going to someplace somewhere to do something they see a beautiful girl by herself. While talking about her, they get a video showing their own deaths and the show begins. It starts somewhat strong and interesting but as the story continues it starts making less sense and becomes extremely boring to watch.
Characters
All the characters are bland and weak except for Hibiki (he's boring, just not weak) the protagonist.
...
All other characters play unimportant roles (except for the guys with white hair), HECK the other two that were with Hibiki were only there to try and be characters who the audience could sympathize with and to be a "reason" for the protagonist to fight. Hibiki is honestly no better than any other character, the only reason why he's more likeable than the others is he's strong and the others aren't. He's the VERY DEFINITION of a generic main character, but hey it is a game adaptation.
Art & Sound
The only thing that saves this anime is it's good art and animation. The characters look nice and the battles are nicely animated but very boring to watch after the first few fights. The music didn't really stand out much except for the ending.
Enjoyment
I really forced myself to watch this anime often going into a trance like state causing me to miss most of what happened in the current episode.
Overall
I really forced myself to watch this anime often going into a trance like state causing me to miss most of what happened in the episode. This is a really big reason why I try my best to not get hyped for anything (I still don't know why I was even hyped for this anime).

The infamous Sword Art Online. Many people hate this anime and others would argue it is one of the best anime out there, defending it with their lives.
Story - 6
Many expected the story to be one of the strongest points in this show just by reading the synopsis or seeing the first episode, it ultimately falls short. Filled with lots of time skips and what one could call "filler" episodes it creates a lot of WTF is happening moments. The death penalty is used early on but on characters that viewers don't even have time to connect to. The penalty becomes
...
even weaker when later in the series (SPOILER) Kirito and Asuna are "killed" fighting the last boss, but are okay in the real world. The death aspect gets thrown aside in the second arc.
Art - 9
The art was wonderful and the animation was very fluid when there were fights. The lighting was also very good but some episodes it just didn't show and made the atmosphere feel inconsistent at times.
Sound - 7
The sound fit well but nothing really stuck out other than the first op.
Character - 4
Due to the importance of the main protagonist Kirito, many of the other more interesting characters were pushed to the side.
Supporting characters such as Klein don't get much screen time, even though he started off seeming like a companion for our protagonist, he gets pushed to the side after the first episode.
Asuna, the heroine, starts off mysterious and antisocial being the only other player without a person to party up during the meeting for the attack on the first boss. She is also quite a good player, in the very same episode she appeared in, she and our main protagonist defeat the first boss. She seems to be shaping up as a badass heroine but later in the series becomes the damsel in distress to show how amazing our protagonist is. Although she seems to be renowned for her lightning fast speed and her skills she doesn't seem very powerful when Kirito is on the screen.
Kirito is our main protagonist and the perfect example of a Gary Stu, being able to crush bosses with little to no help, bosses that would normally take out dozens of players. He starts out well enough being a young, socially awkward teen who gets thrown into a game of death, but later he seem to be able to get all of the girls he meets to fall for him even though he doesn't have any standout qualities other than being super overpowered.
The relationship of our two main characters is one of "romance." It's obvious that they are going to end up together but it happens quite suddenly, with no real development before hand. Many romance anime have it so that the main couple don't really end up together until the end, making it seem unrealistic, but SAO probably would have been better off having Kirito and Asuna as friends until the end of the second arc. Forcing Kirito to realize how much she means to him.
Enjoyment - 7
Although I have problems with the characters and the lack of importance of the death penalty, I enjoyed the show only noticing these flaws when I re-watched it.
Overall - 6
The story is weak, and the characters "decent" but if you are looking for an anime that can give you a dark, breathtaking atmosphere with an interesting concept SAO is a good one to try.

Is what you want, what you truly want?
Story- 8/10
The story is about our two main characters and their experience with the emotion called, "love." Taiga and Ryuuji have a crush on each others best friends and work together to get to hook each other up. Seems simple enough right? Well, it is. It's quite obvious who is going to end up with whom, but the charm of the show is in the adventure and how they get there, not in the destination.
The pacing is a little slow at times with some episodes seeming a little longer than others, while other parts had the pacing
...
feel a little fast (the ending).
Art- 9/10
The art fit very well and the atmosphere it was able to create at times were almost breathtaking.
Sound- 8/10
Nothing too memorable music wise, the voice actors though, were very good. Taiga being voiced by Kugimiya, Rie a voice actress known as the "Queen of Tsundere." The voice actors fit the cast well and were able to clearly portray the emotion of the characters throughout the course of the series.
Character- 10/10
Toradora has characters that are relatable and act somewhat realistically. The two main characters are both outcasts and really only have one friend, making them a bit socially awkward, especially when it comes to love. With their lack of experience, they make many mistakes and have some very funny moments along the way.
The other main/supporting characters (Ami, Yuusaku, and Minori) have their own dilemmas within the story, often putting up a facade or doing things that contradict how they feel. Just like the two leads they all develop in their own ways and come to their own conclusions.
The real supporting cast is okay, but nothing too memorable like the main characters.
The ones that do stand out are Ryuuji's mother and Taiga's father, even though they don't change, they play their own little parts in the story and further development of the other characters.
Enjoyment- 9/10
I think many other people will find enjoyment in this anime, with its many laughs good characters, and sweet romance.
Overall- 9/10
It's a must watch for those who are interested in romance or are trying to get into the genre. It has very little flaws and an overall good pacing.

"I was never good at anything. I never had any dreams. But, Arata told me that if I become the best karuta player in Japan, I would be the best in the world. If I can be the best in the world at something, I think it's worth a shot." -Ayase Chihaya
Chihayafuru is a series that kept me wanting more every time.
Story- 7/10
The female lead Chihaya is obsessed with an old game called karuta. After her encounter with Arata, (a boy in her elementary school) she becomes enchanted with karuta. The story isn't anything amazing, but the way it is presented is great.
...
The first few episodes start off with flashbacks explaining many things, such as, "What is karuta?" and "Why does she play this game?" The real appeal of Chihayafuru doesn't lay in the story but in it's characters.
Characters- 9/10
The characters are what really stand out about Chihayafuru, the characters are all unique and colorful in their own ways. Chihaya with her strange antics and tomboyish mannerisms and her childhood friend Taichi and his over calculating mind. All characters have a problem they have to face and overcome throughout the course of the series.
Art- 9/10
The animation and art were really well done. The animation was fluid and the characters all looked different. The eyelashes that most shoujo anime/manga had were something that I personally never really liked, but the eyelashes here fit really well with the characters.
Sound- 8/10
The music fit well with the flow and mood every time they were put in. The openings and endings were also pleasant to listen to.
Enjoyment- 10/10
The show is interesting even when they aren't playing the game and when they are the outcome is usually unpredictable. Every time an episode ended I was eager to jump straight into the next episode.
Overall- 9/10
Chihayafuru is a must watch anime and will leave you wanting more. Luckily the second season is already complete as well and quite satisfying.

Double Arts a manga that ended abruptly due to cancellation.
Story- 8/10
The story is quite intriguing. Troy, a disease with no cure and once infected you are doomed. Sisters are able to delay the disease but at the cost of their own lifespan. One day a sister named Elraine starts succumbing to the disease, but a boy named kiri is able to stop her seizures, is he the cure? A different kind of story with many mysteries to be unlocked.
Art- 7/10
Good art for a first time serialized manga. The characters are neatly drawn and the backgrounds have a nice amount of detail, when they
...
are seen.
Character- 6/10
The characters were not by any means weak, but they were not able to develop due to the cancellation of the series. The male protagonist is a cheerful, happy, go lucky guy with little to no concerns until he met Elraine. The female protagonist has been dealing with the disease since she was a child, after some events she ended up becoming a sister, although knowing that one day she would die to the disease.
Enjoyment- 8/10
I was quite satisfied with this manga, the premise was good the characters, likeable.
Overall- 7/10
If you're looking for a short read Double Arts is a good choice but it is unfinished.

This is my first review so spare me.
When I first saw this anime, I thought it would be another typical shounen anime with generic characters. Well, I was somewhat right or completely correct.
Story-6/10
The story follows our young protagonist Tsukishima, Jinbei who has just left his home. After some events he ends up joining the Mushibugyou, a group of people who fight giant bugs. Although it doesn't seem very interesting at first, as the story unfolds a bit we get a slight idea to how the giant bugs came to be and to who the head of the Mushibugyou really is.
Art- 7/10
Nothing to spectacular here. The
...
art matches the overall atmosphere of the show and stays consistent throughout the anime from what I can see.
Sound- 8/10
The sound fits the anime well from what I can remember and the first OP and ED were decent. The second OP and ED were what really caught my ear, the second OP was fun and matched the show very well, while the second ED had a more serious tone to it with good visuals to boot.
Character- 7/10
This is where some people may be skeptical. The characters don't seem like anything special, especially the protagonist Jinbei. The other characters are; Hibachi the ninja/tsundere who uses explosives, Tenma the onmyouji with his two shikigami, Shungiku the samurai/criminal who uses swords, and Mugai the strongest member of the group. I'm only going to talk in detail about Jinbei and Princess Naa
Jinbei the new member in the group. Although he seems generic and boring, he is one of the reasons as to why I liked this anime. Even though he's not very strong he makes up for that with enthusiasm and his undying will to fight for what he believes is right. He is very respectful of everyone usually adding the honorific -dono to their names. His interaction with the main cast is entertaining to watch and feels natural.
(Some Spoilers Ahead)
Princess Naa also known as the insect Magistrate is the head of the unit. Not much is known about her at the start. She starts out practically emotionless and meets our protagonist at the start of summer, where she is seen just standing around looking up at the sky waiting for the fireworks to start. Despite her past, she starts to show more emotion as she interacts with Jinbei and later realizes she has developed feelings for Jinbei.
Enjoyment- 9/10
The show was always entertaining to watch even though the start was slow. It never felt like a chore and I was always exited for the next episode.
Overall- 8/10
I feel like Mushibugyou is a somewhat underrated anime but if you're looking for a casual/happy anime Mushibugyou is a great choice!
-Note there are some gory parts.
