Boku no Hero Academia

A story about a boy who lives within a deeply flawed society that rewards people who "fit" inside and are willing to die for the good of others in battle against evil. As the story goes on it shows you every single way how this world is bad. A majority of the readers do not understand the world the characters reside in is bad.

Aho Girl

A highly energetic girl with extreme strength that goes around and often times causes havoc or misery to others. A vast cast of utterly ridiculous characters that have very little to no normal traits, often times they will be complete scumbags or at least morally ambiguous too Casual/Non-stimulating sexual humor in almost every chapter.

Incredibly toxic and straight up abusive "couple" where for a large part it's not clear if the other party actually even likes the main character or if they're just having fun toying around with him, and he seems to just go along with it due to being a pervert and having no self esteem Nakamura and JJK are also kind of similar in that you have no fucking clue why they do the things they do

Tone wise the two are VERY different, depending on your personal view one is much more darker than the other. Rachel and Mogumo have a similar backstory of coming from rather broken households that may have started off as normal but became worse and worse as time goes on. Both characters are also blamed for said household going awry. While Satsuriku no Tenshi is not explicitly stated to have the two main leads in a romantic view, their bond is incredibly close and just like Mogumo and Tetsu they form a strong bond that others wouldn't or couldn't understand. Overall both stories are about two characters who mean everything to eachother.

Mashle

Very much surprised these two don't have a reccomendation yet. First up, the main characters. Mash and Kitano-kun. Mash and Kitano and generally presented in similar ways, very clumsy and misunderstood, awkward teenage boys who somehow always find themselves in trouble. There are differences, such as Mash having no problem with pounding someone's face meanwhile Kitano absolutely hating violence, but the similarities are there. Next up the side cast, also rather similar. Guys who start of absolutely HATING mc but pretty soon realize that they are good friends actually. One thing that I like more about Angel Densetsu is the female cast, as the female characters in Mashle are honestly just plain awful and/or annoying. Sadge. Lastly the story...They are not alike at all, but they do have a very very similar tone. Both starting off as a pure comedy with maybe hints of seriousness but overall putting comedy first, later on though it starts focusing more on the fights and occasional drama.

Sudden dark humor! It's a bit more rare in Ika Musume but it, just like Yokai Watch, occasionally has these sudden moments that make you think "Wait what." Especially when it's so casually played off. You wouldn't expect it from a colorful and childish looking show like Yokai watch but it deals with cannibalism, suicide, murder and many more topics presented in a fun and child friendly way. Ika-chan is kind of like a mix of Whisper and Jibanyan personality wise now that I think about it. Heck she would probably totally fit in the Yokai Watch cast.

A girl suddenly arrives in the Male MCs life and flips it upside down, it's a story as old as the creation of romance fiction. However these ones have something that really makes them stand out from the Boy meets Girl formular. That being the INCREDIBLY mature topics that come up in both of them, Asper Girl (I find) has much more focus on these topics and handles them slightly more maturely but the focus in Bitter Virgin about love and lust and how a single bad incident can ruin your perception of connection is masterful in it's own way.

AKB49: Renai Kinshi Jourei

I hope to god that I chose the right version of the E21 manga, If I accidentally chose the Oneshot version instead just know I'm reccomending the full manga. Now at first glance AKB49 and E21 have absolutely nothing in common. AKB49 is a idol manga full of fanservice and cute girls singing and dancing while E21 is a sports manga full of sweaty boys fondling balls. But after rereading the two I noticed some similarities. Minori/Minoru for example reminded me alot of Sena, with him not having any sort of interest in the Idol business until trying it out and going through all the hardship that made him care about the group. Sena initially joined the American Football team to get stronger so Mamori would no longer worry about him but eventually he stayed for the not only his teammates but also himself. AKB49 generally has the feel of a shounen actually, the girls can be really tough and sometimes you forget that it's supposed to be a romance. And while Eyeshield is all about roughness and toughness there are plenty of heartfelt moments and inner conflict within the characters that are plenty emotional.

Onegai My Melody

Honestly surprised this hasn't been reccomended before. Both follow the premise of "problem of the week", not necessarily always a monster/clow card but just in general some sort of problem that troubles the charming main charactes. My Melo is alot more comedic and tends to go for a more slice of life tone compared to CCS, but even without the action moments it's still a joy to watch for the comedy alone. CCS is more story focused, there's a sense of progression (albeit slow) and higher stakes with the "monster" of the week. (the clow card) Depending on who you are that may or may not turn you off from watching it, personally I find it fine since I enjoy the slice of life moments alot.

The obvious comparison is the fact that there is an orgasm almost every episode over something people normally don't have orgasms to. one more thing that's similar are the mind games, not sure if i'm remembering right but most of the time you never hear what Souma or Yumeko are thinking, instead it's the tag along (Tadokoro & Suzui) that have a game going through their head and going into a panic over what is gonna happen and how Souma/Yumeko is gonna win this. you also see the thoughts going through their over confident opponent and how they go into total madness when they realize that they will be absolutely BTFO'd.

Both are about a bunch of kids interacting with ghost's in one way or another, Yokai watch is a bit more goofy about it though. Both are more of a collection of short stories rather than a whole series as in they both focus on random ghost's for an episode rather than have some sort of big story. Both have a weird white ghost blob thing who is sorta the mascot, in Yokai watch Jibanyan is also the mascot and it's often said how everyone likes him more than whisper in the show but personally i prefer whisper.
