- Both take place in a school environment - Both have characters that received some sort of loss prior to reaching high school - Both are about sports Kyudo and volleyball respectively - Both are about being the underdog in a sports competition To me both anime kind of feel the same beyond what I already mentioned. The coaches are likeable characters that are present in the character's lives prior to becoming the coach. The characters are driven to succeed within a team environment. Both anime's share the genres: sports, school, and drama. Some differences are that Haikyuu!! is also shounen and comedy. Kageyama and Onogi are both voiced by Ishikawa, Kaito.

Similarities: - Both are fantasy/sci-fi/shounen/adventure - Both include characters that play online games and can seamlessly interact with their environments - Both include games that can affect the well being of the people playing the game - .Hack// has characters that fall into a coma, and get trapped in the game. - Sword Art Online has characters that get trapped in the game, and die if they cannot clear it. The similarities are over whelming. Though I have not seen Sword Art Online yet, I'm guessing the pace will be a lot faster than that of .Hack//Sign. However, if you like the general scenario of the anime, chances are you'll like .Hack//Sign as well (and vice versa).

They are both psychological mysteries of one form or another. And both deal with individuals trying to find the truth behind a matter. The same somewhat dark underlying feeling is in both of the anime's. Although the story line's themselves are quite different.

Both characters stumble into an adventure which leads into a plots which include conspiracies about their current ways of living. Both have a similar feel, if the above description proves inadequate.
