I really liked this anime, I know a lot of people disliked it due to its ending. Mostly because it is an incredibly dark ending, but I kinda like it. This anime has great characters, and character development. I appreciate the deep psychological, and philosophical questions this series asks. My favorite character in this show is the professor, as I can appreciate someone who is scientifically minded, and is willing to stand up to forces that aren't easy to understand. I would say give this show a try if you aren't afraid of something slightly on the edgy side, and not everything turning out the

This is perhaps the weirdest anime I ever watched, and I probably shouldn't be rating this show so high. But the premise and execution of this anime is too intriguing. I can't say I didn't enjoy my time with it, but it fried my brain cells watching it. This feels more like a student film than a properly produced anime. The concept of machines wanting to become human deep down, and asking what it means to be human is very interesting concept, and it;s execution here is very interesting. It;s also a surprisingly short anime to watch. So you aren't wasting much time if you
...
choose to watch it. There are elements of uncanny valley, body horror, and you aren't human if you don't ask yourself WTF is happening every 15 minutes. This is weirdly horny for a show lacking both the ecchi, or hentai tags, so some people will be weirded out by that. I'd recommend people watch this at least once, if you can find somewhere to watch it, but I don't know if I'd watch it again. It's also hard to find where to watch it in good quality. Still, I can't say this is bad, because it is a weirdly engaging, and fascinating watch. I'll need to watch something different to detox from this show afterward, something more normal. I might force my friends to watch this at some point, but I'd also be scared to watch it with them at the same time.

I can see why this is some people's favorite anime, but due to personal preferences and some problems with the story the highest score I can give this is a 7. Greed Island is one of the most pointless arcs in anime I've seen. Even some of the Naruto filler arcs are better than Greed Island. That arc in particular felt like a waste of time for me, nothing happened in it, and that was when I noticed the biggest problem with the show. That problem is Gon is a Gary Stu who, while does lose on a rare occasion, always gets what he wants
...
in the end. Every time Gon has a setback it's usually undone, and people in the series give him unnecessary praise he didn't earn because of who his dad is. Even in his most dire moments, he bounces back due to major asspulls. The Chimera Ant arc went on for way too long, and I almost dropped the show because there was too little pay-off vs. time needed to complete the series. My friend convinced me to continue, and after a reasonably short break from the show, I continued and found it enjoyable.
That being said, there is a lot to enjoy about Hunter X Hunter 2011. The Yorknew Arc is the best arc in the show, and Kurapika is definitely my favorite character. If only he got more screen time, and more story arcs involving him that would have been great. Hisoka and Pariston are great too. My second favorite arc is actually the last one in the show because it had great political intrigue, and made me the most interested in the show since Yorknew. Characters, in general, are really well fleshed out, and the power system is both creative and well thought out. It isn't as broken as others we seen from battle shonen in the past. The more upbeat tone is refreshing if you been enjoying a lot of darker stuff lately.
The final piece of advice, if you're going to watch this show skip Greed Island, and pace yourself. You'll have a good time with it.

Part four of Jojo's Bizarre Adventures is a mixed bag with many positive things to say about the series, and some drawbacks as well. The greatest strength of the series is the world building aspect. Exploring the setting of Morio is cool, although considerably less epic than a story that spans entire continents. The series ties up loose ends that part three left behind. I do feel like they could have explored the lore around the bow and arrow a little bit more. I kinda feel the plot revolving around the sets of bows and arrows could have been further explored. The main villain is
...
boring and lacks proper motivation for what he does. He lacks the charisma of Dio, and the backstory and lore that made Kars interesting. What the main villain has going for him is cunning and an interesting stand ability. What he lacks is something that makes him stand out in the same way prior villains have. He feels like someone seen Silence of the Lambs, and just wrote fanfiction where Hanibal Lecter had a thing for killing people in the least subtle way possible that would attract the most attention. The rest of the cast are good to mediocre, they aren't as interesting as the cast of characters in part three which is a better written story in my opinion. The pacing for this show is rather slow, and aimless. It takes a little too much time to get to the heart of the series, and has a few too many unnecessary characters that could be cut out. But I can honestly say I enjoyed my time watching, and if you have an itch for Jojo related media it fills that purpose. It did however made me appreciate part three even more than I previously did however.
