There's a large amount of anime where there's a bunch of chuunibyou characters, and most of them tend to be female characters, and usually directed towards the male audience. For one thing, this anime reminded me a lot of Konosuba, since the boys are very similar to Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness as they all have a kind of chuunibyou complex, acting grander than they really are, which isn't a bad thing (theres even a reference to Megumin's explosion attack when Nakamura does one of his "attacks" :p). However, Chuubyou Gekihatsu Boy puts a refreshing spin on that aspect, giving an entire group of bishie boys
...
that grandiose character.
Chuubyou Gekihatsu is one of the funniest anime put out by Sentai Filmworks, centered around five boys with a chuunibyou complex, part of their club called the Hero Club. The main character girl does her best to live her everyday school life around these boys, and has many funny moments in between. Each of the boys' personalities is hilariously eccentric, displaying their traits in the clearest way, and hradly faltering in character. The boys aren't always just eccentric however, they do have moments when they really group together and connect in order to solve some problem in each episode, or simply to encourage other characters to get in their Hero Club. Seeing the grandiose complex in a bunch of guys may be funnier than you think.
Art: 8/10 Sentaii Filmworks brings us great art as always. The animation and art is clear, and very colorful, even for just a comedic anime. The characters all look unique, and not bland at all.
Story: 7/10 Given the anime is a comedic school life anime, it is pretty average in story line, with the anime being about the lives of the boys and main character girl, with a few side characters. Nothing too special to say.
Sound: 8/10 I love the soundtrack that plays at random moments when one of the characters is being dramatic and displaying their "power". Especially when Nakamura has a scene where he's "battling" with his demon side and having a "tragic" moment. I put quotes around those words since it's really just him being dramatic, but in the most hilarious way. A classical organ piece comes up, and I even heard Air On G by Bach at one point lol.
Character: 9/10 The characters are so unique in general and within the story. Yes, they all have the chuunibyou complex, but they go through it in different ways. The synopsis has all the traits of their complex.
Enjoyment/Overall: 9/10 I enjoy this show so much. I haven't watched such a funny anime in a while. This anime REALLY gives me Konosuba vibes which is all the more hilarious.
If you like funny, Konosuba-vibe kind of anime, then I HIGHLY recommend watching Chuubyou Gekihatsu Boy. It's made by the same studio, Studio Deen, and you can really feel the similarities to Konosuba. If you like that but with pretty boys, then check this out! It'll leave you wanting to watch more, and have you laughing all throughout.

In the history of almost every BL anime, there has never been an anime so down-to-earth and modern than this one. Please, before you dismiss it for its "shounen ai" tag, I want to clear up a few things. While the majority of BL has a lot of sexual acts and even harassment, with almost no plot and just flippant fanservice, there are some that are real gems with actual plot. This anime, Given, is such a gem. Trust when I say it is definitely not like typical fujoshi bait shounen ai anime. It's a refreshing take on anime the emotional impact left by this
...
anime will leave you in tears with its heartbreaking story.
I won't spoil the anime, because honestly even if I tried I could not grasp its beauty with just words alone. You'd have to watch it for yourself to feel the story. I'll give a brief summary though if you want to know how it starts off and will mainly be about. Uenoyama is a sole guitarist in a band with two other people, Haruki and Akihiko. One day, he comes across Mafuyu Sato, who has broken his guitar strings and Uenoyama fixes it for him; thus begins the start of their friendship. Throughout the anime, Uenoyama learns more about Mafuyu and himself, and eventually the groundbreaking truth about Mafuyu's life. The anime centers around not only the relationship but around music as well. Now, here is where the anime shies away from being "just another BL anime".
Mafuyu joins Uenoyama's band where they continue to open up a little more at a time, and break Mafuyu's shell. Mafuyu is a very closed character at first, but with more interactions and learning to face the truth, Uenoyama guides him to break free from it all. The music all plays a huge part in this role, and is what leads Mafuyu to better express himself like he wasn't able to before.
The music will honestly leave you in tears, with its profound intensity and emotional lyrics. It'll give you chills to the bone. Not much anime can have such an impact. The opening is my favorite one so far and I never once skipped it. It's catchy but also heavy with the message in the lyrics. Please, at least check out the lyrics.
Throughout everything, the characters develop more emotionally and this anime will make you feel that, too. There's no "tee hee almost got ya" base flirting like that; this story is about real life issues like learning to trust someone, and not let the past overtake you.
Each episode will always leave you wondering what's going to happen next and make you want more. Its deep message and character developments will leave their imprint on you, and at times make you sad enough to cry. I can see 100% guaranteed that this anime is so much more than just a cheesy love story, too. If you love being shaken to the core with eye-widening heartfelt moments, then I absolutely recommend without a doubt that you watch this beautiful anime, Given.

First of all, why in the world is something with such good shounen ai themes not labeled as Shounen Ai in its genre, but an anime with literally no romantic interaction between the male mcs such as in Togainu no Chi is? I don't think I would have bothered to write a review on this if it hadn't been for the bits of romance in the story. Now, this story isn't a full-on romance anime, but what caught my attention was how the romantic aspects were incorporated. Before we get to that however, I'll start off with the plot.
Story: 5/10 The way in which
...
the plot was carried out was pretty disappointing. I was confused most of the time and rarely saw any kind of good development. I understand mostly it was about Nezumi wanting his revenge on No.6, and Shion just constantly asking why without getting a good explanation until the end. It honestly felt like the whole anime was about just that. Nezumi and Shion fighting, then getting along (somewhat) again, and arguing yet again, even to the end.
Art: 6/10 Nothing too special but it wasn't terrible.
Sound: 7/10 I like the ending song a lot, with how it was so melancholic sounding, and after reading the lyrics I was especially touched. So, sound and ost. pretty good.
Character 7/10 Now here's where I mostly enjoyed the characters. For people who don't like shounen ai, this anime is not for you. However, if you want an anime that has male leads that are not just in some teasy, fujoshi-bait, baseless plot, then this anime is for you. That being said, I do wish there was more than Nezumi and Shion just arguing back and forth all the time.
Enjoyment/Overall: 7/10 One of the things I appreciated the most about this anime was how it incorporated bl scenes that were more meaningful than ANY shounen ai anime I've ever seen. The dancing scene I found to be profound. It was something unique that I enjoyed that I hadn't seen before, and showed their connection imo. The kiss scenes did the same and I appreciated how it happened just a few times, making it to be savored more in the times it was shown. If the plot development was better, I would have given it an 8/10 overall.

Boy oh boy, this has been one of the most profound anime I've seen , and I'm not sure if it was in a good way or a bad one. I can say that it was not my favorite at all though, because I just felt like the ending was all too sudden and I expected a little more. I do like the concept though. Throughout the story, at first it seems like a simple terror plot, but especially towards the end, it progresses into FAR more than that. I won't give out any spoilers but it if you want an anime that really picks
...
up and changes drastically towards the end then this is the one for you. This actually really reminded me that sometimes humans are more devilish than actual monsters. The way in which the humans become the monsters (figuratively speaking) is just what made the anime so profound for me.
I wish the ending could have been a little better done though. After I watched it, I just felt really empty but filled with a lingering "wtf just happened" feeling. It's hard to explain, but this anime is definitely something special. It is worth checking out in my opinion. The intense emotions of characters brought the anime to life and made a bigger impact as well. The tragedies and all had the same impact.
This anime is definitely something to check out, if you want the emotional and moral impact.

I really liked this anime, it seriously moved me and by far is my favorite anime. It teaches new ideas about human morals and has a lot of suspense in it too. The artwork was fantastic and the different situations the characters are in were always interesting. It was pretty sad at times too and I'm the type that loves that a lot. If you do too, then by all means, check this out :)
The main character shows a lot of development throughout the anime, learning new things, and so does Decim. They both help each other grow and it really is am amazing and

heartshaking to watch it all happen.
