I finally got a chance to watch a Ghibli film in the theatre. It was an amazing experience and a great way to get introduced into this movie. Laputa is one of the few Miyazaki films I have yet to watch but after having seen it, the movie is ranked highly amongst my top favorites.
Why did I like it?
First off, the movie overall was hardly boring or tedious despite its two hour run time. Laputa was unexpectedly action packed. Plus the characters, especially Pazu, were hilarious in segments throughout the film. Miyazaki did well to combine humor with the heavier parts. The art was downright

Karakuri Zoushi Ayatsuri Sakon
(Anime)
add
Ayatsuri Sakon is about a boy and his puppet solving murders. That is the story in its entirety. What makes this show stand out amongst others is its usage of Bunraku, a style of Japanese puppetry, to aid in the solving the crimes. The show is unique in its execution and does well to mix elements such as humor and suspense.
For me personally, what made this anime top tier above all else was the soundtrack. I don't think I've heard one so beautifully captivating. A flute sings woefully or mystically in the background as you work your brain trying to figure out the killer. The ... Apr 19, 2023
Gakuen Babysitters
(Anime)
add
Gakuen Babysitters is incredibly endearing. The plot itself is simple, a daycare. Yet, I felt attached to the characters and there were times I felt like how one of the characters felt. The show does a flawless job at showing kids being kids and the bond between siblings. The art is simple yet beautiful and effective, the voice acting (in both English and Japanese) was very well done, and the music for the opening and ending were light hearted and catchy. Comedy also made an impact on the show. Despite a few heavy scenes every so often, there was always a time where I was

Kemono Jihen
(Anime)
add
It has been a long time since I have seen an anime that I could binge watch like I did with Kemono Jihen. The first episode has an excellent hook and each episode thereafter continues to string the viewer along for a thrilling ride. It was clear that there was a lot of effort put into this anime and I congratulate the staff on a job well done. Daisuke Ono may not have played a major role in the show but he shown through by delivering a killer opening. The artists were not short of skill either. Between the action and the array of different

It makes me sad to give this anime such a low ranking because the art is beautiful and it has some of my favorite voice actors. However, I can not look beyond the fact that this anime was painful to watch. I had to force myself to play each episode and each time it felt like the show was never ending.
I believe a large part of this had to do with the story itself. The plot drags on through the 24 episodes with repeated tropes throughout. The two main characters fight nonstop and everyone else, except for one side character, are utterly useless. The show ... Aug 27, 2022
Shaman King
(Anime)
add
I have not been so addicted to a show in quite some time. This anime was created the year I was born yet I only began watching it in 2022. Frankly, I am sad I didn't watch this as a kid. The style of animation brought memories of me watching Digimon and some older Studio Ghibli films when I was home alone. When I began watching Shaman King I had just found out I needed an ACL surgery and was looking for a comfort show. Though far from comfort, I became engrossed in the storyline.
Shaman King has a lovable protagonist that I admired and ... Aug 7, 2022
Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san
(Anime)
add
The art style for Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san is amazing! It stayed visually appealing from start to finish. The characters were all loveable, some were relatable and overall impacted the story in their own unique way. Musically, I enjoyed the anime's opening and ending songs but the opening had a fun take on showing off the two main characters, Shikimori and Izumi.
The place where it lacked the most was the storyline. At first, I had mixed feelings about this anime. I felt it was a bit too cliche for my liking but then I came to enjoy the characters and the overall happy vibes ... Jul 15, 2021
Yuukoku no Moriarty
(Anime)
add
For those who haven't seen Yuukoku no Moriarty yet, the characters in this anime are based on the Sherlock Holmes series. I believe that whether or not you have seen Sherlock Holmes will impact your initial perspective of Yuukoku no Moriarty. I have never seen or read Sherlock Holmes nor did I know of any other characters when I first watched this.
Story: That being said I really enjoyed this series. I very much like how intricate the crime scenarios were. The overall plot itself was a bit vague but I think they'll address it in more detail in season 2 so I'm not worried about it. Art: The ... Jul 16, 2020
For the first movie of the series, I did have high expectations. Although some of those expectations were met, I was let down by a few points throughout the movie. The lower score mostly comes from the hurried ending and the character-building for the new characters.
What makes Boku no Hero Academia so special is how it involves the entire class. Far too often in a school-themed anime, the show/movie only focuses on like 1 or 2 people. But BNHA utilizes all the characters in the school so they're not just background figures for Izuku and Bakugo. Although the movie only focuses on certain kids from ... Jun 30, 2020
Akatsuki no Yona OVA
(Anime)
add
This OVA is so much better than the first season! I rated the first season of Akatsuki no Yona a 6/10, the biggest reason being is that I am not fond of the main character. This OVA however is a 10/10. I think Zeno is the best character. All four of the dragon warriors and Yun in the story have such interesting and heartfelt backgrounds. The original season went from really sad to funny in mere moments, but in the OVA, it maintained the mood. Episode two and three made me want to cry. It's so touching! If the show ever gets a season two
