Both stories give off the same adventurous excitement while following the plot of young children on a mission. The fighting scenes are epic and animation is great yet both series are not as well known as some other mainstream shows.

Both anime have two male main character, one is hard headed and the other a bit naive. They overcome their differences and become great friends; they become like brothers. Both are also short, quick watches but very good animation and story.

Dororo

Studio Bones did well on Stranger: Mukou Hadan's art style. Much of the fighting scenes remind me of the action in Dororo. What's more, the main characters have a lot in common. The older mains in both are wondering swordsmen and the younger are both struggling orphans. The plot itself is different in each but both are filled with an exciting, blade wielding adventure.

Nitaboh

Karakuri Zoushi Ayatsuri Sakon
add

This is probably the only non-mystery recommendation for this show but Ayatsuri Sakon had another major theme, Bunraku. This is a form of Japanese puppetry and is reference in the show often since one of the main characters is a Bunraku puppet. Nitaboh, while not a mystery anime, shares the same likeness when it comes to sharing a cultural aspect about Japan. Nitaboh was created a 5 years after Ayatsuri Sakon but both their execution and sound tracks are top notch. Nitaboh focuses on an instrument called a Shamisen, a three stringed instrument and is often used in Bunraku performances during narrative songs. Both movie and show share dark moments with times of joyous triumphant, and both protagonists (Nitaboh and Sakon) find their places through partnering with inanimate objects that held a special place in their hearts.

Both are iyashikei, well deserving of the genre. While Gakuen babysitters focuses on children and Cool Doji Danshi focuses on adults, both show have moments when the characters learn about life in general but also the importance of sticking together. The shows are also binge worthy and at a good length to watch in a single day.

Both anime follow children on a dangerous adventure. The acting and animation in each anime are unique but well done. Both shows draw the audience in with intriguing story plots and loving characters. Even though both anime have children's main characters, they do not go easy on the emotional tragedies laid onto the characters. Also, the OSTs for both anime are gold!

Both YYH and HXH were created by the same man, Yoshihiro Togashi. In common the two anime follows a group of four male protagonists on an action-filled adventure. The main protagonists are stubborn, hard-headed, and look good in green. While YYH and HXH have intense plots, they are able to incorporate humor. Lastly, both the ops and eds are amazing!
