A wonderful audiovisual anime, which is highly intense and emotional simultaneously.
This masterpiece is the reason to watch animes instead of mangas.
From the artworks perspective the characters are somewhat off with their lips compared to conventional animes, sometimes accompanied with slapstick comedy moments, their whole bodys are even on the level of an OVA/webcomic. You can notice the animation budgets focus on the stage and of course the well presented Steinway & Sons piano.
Your Lie in April's main feature though is the sound. No Manga or light novel ever could overjoy the musical art this anime delivers. Even if you don't like classic, you will acknowledge
...
the beauty when watching this anime.
Apart from the audio aspect, the story, or better the journey you'll be taking part of is phenomenal and thrilling. You'll start with no knowledge of the protagonists past. Progressively through the anime you will see almost all backstories and their connections with the protagonist. I'm just missing the deeper connection between Kousei Arima and Ryouta Watari, but maybe because it feels like it's the main theme of the story.
Yes it can be repetitively emotional towards the end, but in that way you can understand each character development intuitively.
I highly recommend anime fans to add Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso to their "Completed" repetoire.
