Just OK, with tonns of potensial !
Wow, I guess I'm the minority here. Since Berserk is considerd a classic by many, and is a high ranked anime.
I mean there is so many things wrong with this series. The animation is mediocre, especially the inbetweening lacks, and makes the visual choppy.
And the pause-still frames is poorly edited, and has inconsistent quality.
And come on, whats the deal with the sword? It changes sizes all the time, they really had proportions issues. And the character animation is a bit generic. The fight scenes dont live up to the genre.
The music I actually like, but it dosnt fit

This is an retro-mecha series.
It's not outstanding or a classic, but you will not be disappointed if you watch it. If you are a mecha fan or more specifically Votom fan this is definitely for you. since its a votom spin-off I personally really like the mechs (A.T's). Even though the main character dosn't use one. He uses a anti-AT rifle to take out the mechs the "bad guys" use. The animation is typical of the 80's. character animation isn't that strong. BUT some of the still frames the use for paning is pieces of art. I'm not sure who animated the series, but it sure resembles the ...

Excellent !
Just finished Samurai Champloo, and I was plesantly suprised. I am now officially a fan. You are missing out if you havent seen it yet !. It's characters have substance, they stand out. Characters get 10/10 It deserves the label COOL. It's style is very uniqe and clever. Style gets 10/10 I would say the humor is clever too and suprising at some times. Humor gets 8/10 The animation is great, and sometimes simlpy beautiful. ...

Didnt like it...
I might not have seen many anime of this type before, but I didn't enjoy it. Half of the episodes had nothing or little to do with the story. So it would have been much better with just 12 episodes. It would then be not so boring. The animation is great. the fighting scene's is not good and few. The shaman grandmother character is cool, the rest of them not so much. The story is just ok, no underlying meanig or deep thoughts. Perhaps its just for children? To all you fans : sorry! But It's just my opinion. Thumbs down

This movie has wonderful animation, in parts exceptional beautiful. The soundtrack fits, and the story is very good and thought provoking. The editing is done very well, and by my opinion makes the movie flow perfectly. The charcters have substance and you care for them. And Its not a typical anime. This movie is an animation adaption of the silent black and white movie from 1927 by Fritz Lang. (Even though it's a silent movie you should watch it, Its great. A CLASSIC
If you havent seen it, do so now. It's my favorite animation movie of all time. The best combination of soundtrack, graphics, story and style. And considering it was made in 1995 makes it better :) Domo arigato Mamoru Oshii ( PS: I'm not a fan of comparing this movie with matrix. It stands alone.)

One of my favorite mecha. The animation art is fantastic. The mechas are really cool, and so are the battles.
A bit too cute, but thats part of the macross charm. If you liked the old maross, you will not be disappointed by this one. The story grips you, and you have to keep watching to find out the plot. Thumbs up ! |
