Neither avitar is from anime. The small one you see in the forums is from an game called Xenogears. Never played it, just liked the pic because it looks a little like me some years ago. The larger pic on my profile page is just something I found on line, a recipe site of all places. It appealed to me because, again, she looks a little like used to and I love the 1630's "Three Musketeers" period (Early Baroque), cats, and black.
A friend from another site customized a couple Kusanagi, Motoko's of Ghost in the Shell and a Ichihara, Yuuko of xxxHOLiC by putting a grey streak in the hair but they don't fit here and I'm no good at resizing them.
I also have a wonderful pic of the Grandmother from Summer Wars wielding a spear. I've thought of using that one from time to time. Again it is a matter of sizing it properly and I'm not too good at that.
Love the fact that Norway has a Monarchy. But it is a monarchy much in keeping with the old Norse sense of kingship, "When its time to dig turnips, the King digs too." Your monarchy is there for inspiration but not so set apart.
I will have to take time to look into what her school is about. The man I initially studied with once met with and did some work for the Duchess of York.
Found the link to THRIVE. Will take a look of it sometime today.
It really is delightful to have made your acquaintance!
Actually, the only flesh eating horse I am aware of is Bucephalus, Alexander the Great's horse. Probably just bad press from the losing side, don't you think?
Not up on my Norse mythology. Off the top of my head, I know that one of the gods had a six legged horse. Was he disposed to human flesh? Now, I do have it on good authority that trolls and gryphons eat horses.
All the fun aside, welcome aboard. It'll be nice to have someone with a wider and a bit more "seasoned" view of the world to talk to .
There is far less anime on TV now than there used to be. Thank the Gods for the internet.
I don't talk facet to fact about anime to many people. Their eyes glaze over and they start to drool a little. Not pretty so I generally avoid it. Occasionally I will slip an anime comment toward someone's teenager just for the shock factor. Eyes get very wide and they say, "Do YOU watch anime?" Simple pleasures . . . .
Have yet to make it to NYC. Been lots of other places but not North East. You'd like Washington State. The west side is very green. It rains a lot but you get accustomed to it. In fact, if it stays sunny too long, we can get a little twitchy. Generally, a very moderate maritime climate. It doesn't take much snow to shut things down because no one is prepared for it, including city, county, and state road crews. There is a huge mountain range called the Cascades. You might have heard of Mt. Rainier and the infamous Mt. St. Helens who blew her top in 1980. Well, on the other side of said mountain range, the state is all rolling hills and sage brush. Very brown. Thanks to irrigation, we produce a lot of fruit and vegetables there. Gets very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. It snows there but everyone is ready for it. I grew up east of the Cascades and moved to the green side in 1988.
I am older than you. Technically, I could be your mother . . . . but more likely your crazy aunt.
(btw, I'm guessing that Gronvold was spelled Grønvold?)
Ya, sure. Her father was Admiral Gronvold. Can't remember the name of his ship. Another seafaring Norwegian boy done good.
I'm quite lucky I found this site, and I have recommended it to a few people so far.
I'm glad you enjoy macross as much as you do, but your review needs a little more "meat"
