Both shows feature a main character who struggles with (relatable?) self doubt and a lack of confidence. They have a similar feel of comedy, as their struggles are both portrayed in a similarly comic way. Although Bocchi feels more exaggerated/extreme than Comic Girls in that regard. Both characters also have a similar kind of situation and growth. They enter a new environment and make new friends who have a shared goal. You see both characters slowly grow as they gain more confidence, work harder, and become more comfortable with their new friends. While the main character in Comic girls isn't a prodigy like in Bocchi the Rock, both characters talents begin to reveal themselves as the shows progress.
