When I first cracked open Chainsaw Man (CSM), I thought, "Oh, just another shonen manga, right?" WRONG. This manga cannot, will not, and refuses to stay sane for more than two chapters. It’s like it takes your expectations, chews them up, spits them out, and then laughs in your face while doing cartwheels.
You know how most manga authors are kind of, like... tethered? Like, the publishers give them this invisible leash to keep things from getting too wild, because, you know, "Oh no, what if the readers get scared and leave?" Yeah, not here. In this case, the publishers basically handed the author a bazooka,
...
whispered, “Go nuts,” and walked away. The result? Absolute chaos. A lawless playground of "what-the-hell-am-I-reading" moments that somehow keep you coming back for more.
Some people read it for the story—bless their souls. They want plot progression and well-rounded character arcs, the sweet summer children. But me? I’m just here for the madness. I’m not even sure the story has a direction anymore. All I know is that this manga feels like staring into the brain of someone who snorted a line of pure imagination powder and decided to make a comic about it. And I love it.
If you do decide to read this fever dream, I strongly recommend lurking in the fan community, whether on Reddit or whatever your social media poison is. Trust me, the theories and discussions are as unhinged as the manga itself, and it's like being in a madhouse where everyone is weirdly enjoying their stay.
