Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen

For centuries, the Demon Slayer Corps has sacredly kept the location of Swordsmith Village a secret. As the village of the greatest forgers, it provides Demon Slayers with the finest weapons, which allow them to fight night-crawling fiends and ensure the safety of humans. After his sword was chipped and deemed useless, Tanjirou Kamado, along with his precious little sister Nezuko, is escorted to the village to receive a new one.

Meanwhile, the death of an Upper Rank Demon disturbs the idle order in the demon world. As Tanjirou becomes acquainted with Mist Hashira Muichirou Tokitou and Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji, ferocious powers creep from the shadows and threaten to shatter the Demon Slayers' greatest line of defense.

Story/Pace 20% 6/10
As with the second and third seasons, this is just a single arc. The problem with this is that it eventually feels too repetitive. While the second season shone with its strong emotions and the third season with the best fights to date, the fourth season couldn't really convince anywhere. The story hardly makes any progress and the pacing is really bad. In almost every fight, there are flashbacks to the past of the individual characters during the particularly exciting moments, which leads to the tension in the fights decreasing significantly. It is also almost always possible to ... predict a fight.

Animation 30 % 8/10
The animations are once again very good, but this season no longer offers particularly breathtaking fights as in season 2 or especially season 3.

Character depth 15 % 7/10
Once again, you learn a lot about the individual characters in this season, but as mentioned above, the pacing is poor. The ecchi elements have been toned down again this season, even if they are still present in parts.

Worldbuilding 20 % 7/10
Again, this is a single location, unfortunately it doesn't offer much visual variety as it did in season 3. The location isn't bad, but it can't convey anything unique anywhere.

Music / sound design 10 % 8/10
The music is very good but less staged than in season 3.

Overall impression 5 % 6.5/10
Overall, the season feels like the weakest season so far. Apart from the pacing, the season doesn't really do anything wrong, but it's nowhere as convincing as the second or third season. The story has become very repetitive, too simple, too slow. The fights in the season were also no longer as visually convincing as before. Overall, a very watchable fourth season, but much weaker than the seasons before.

Geschichte/Tempo 20 % 6/10
Wie in der zweiten und dritten Staffel auch, handelt es sich hierbei nur um einen einzigen Arc. Das Problem dabei ist, dass es sich irgendwann zu repetitiv anfühlt. Während die zweite Staffel mit ihren starken Emotionen und dritte Staffel mit den bis dato besten Kämpfen glänzen konnte, konnte die vierte Staffel nirgends wirklich überzeugen. Die Story macht kaum fortschritte und das Pacing ist wirklich schlecht. Nahezu in jedem Kampf gibt es bei den besonders spannenden Momenten, Rückblicke über die Vergangenheit der einzelnen Charaktere was dazu führt, dass die Spannung in den Kämpfen deutlich nachlässt. Auch lässt sich mittlerweile nahezu immer ein Kampf vorhersagen.

Animation 30 % 8/10
Die Animationen sind wieder sehr gut, allerdings bietet diese Staffel keine besonders atemberaubende Kämpfe mehr wie in Staffel 2 oder vor allem Staffel 3.

Charaktertiefe 15 % 7/10
Auch in dieser Staffel lernt man wieder viel über die einzelnen Charaktere, allerdings wie oben bereits geschrieben mit einem schlechten Pacing. Die Ecchi Elemente wurden in dieser Staffel wieder etwas zurückgefahren, auch wenn sie teilweise noch vorhanden sind.

Worldbuilding 20 % 7/10
Auch hier handelt es sich wieder um eine einzige Location, leider bietet diese keine große visuelle Abwechslung mehr wie in Staffel 3. Die Location ist nicht schlecht, aber sie kann nirgendswo etwas einzigartiges vermitteln.

Musik / Sounddesign 10 % 8/10
Die Musik wirkt sehr gut aber weniger in Szene gestellt wie noch in der 3. Staffel.

Gesamteindruck 5 % 6.5/10
Insgesamt fühlt sich die Staffel als die bisher schwächste Staffel an. Die Staffel macht zwar bis auf dem Pacing nichts wirklich falsch, aber sie kann nirgends so überzeugen wie noch die zweite oder dritte Staffel. Die Story wirkt mittlerweile sehr repetitiv, zu einfach, zu langsam. Die Kämpfe in der Staffel konnten visuell auch nicht mehr so überzeugen wie zuvor. Insgesamt eine durchaus gut ansehbare vierte Staffel aber deutlich schwächer als noch die Staffeln zuvor.

Kimetsu no Yaiba: Katanakaji no Sato-hen
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc


Please understand me, I like Demon Slayer. No matter how clichéd, stupid, and embarrassing the anime can be, I like it for that very simplicity. And the naturally shockingly good animations are just the cherry on top of the already appetising cake.

It has to be said anyway, this season was just bad, there's nothing more to say. The pacing was sluggish, practically nothing happened. The whole season was just one big training arc with an Indian film at the end. Nothing happened in the whole season except screentime for irrelevant side characters that ... can't have any meaning in the upcoming season, and development for the water Hashira.

They should have either squeezed the season into 2 episodes or made a montage out of it, like they made 6 damn episodes out of Rocky going jogging.

I liked the last 2 episodes, the rest can be skipped completely once Giyu's flashback is done. Otherwise the season has no relevance whatsoever.

Only Recommended for Demon Slayer Fans like me, otherwise DONT touch it.

I dot't understand the hype around Demon Slayer anymore. The only positive I have to share is the animation style except for the "3D parts". The fighting scenes are colorful and really cool to look at. So far the good parts and now I will start ranting.

Story: so predictable... ofc the highlevel demons are "difficult" to defeat and OFC at the brink of the heroes death, they suddenly get a sobbing flashback then awakening and then lastly an energy burst. Suddenly their broken bodies are not so broken.... sounds familiar? Yes it was like the previous seasons.

I don't feel like we learned anything new ... or groundbreaking this arc. They're just a bunch of vampires, looking for a cure. I feel like the cure is going the be something cliche like "love"

The most annoying part is Mitsuri's screaming and oversexualisation. Still don't understand why I keep watching it, eventhough it's not even top tier anime.
