Fairy Tail. What to say about it? I for one was pleasantly surprised by this anime. I went into this expecting another stupid harem anime with countless of panty shots, which would have been dreadful. I only sat down to watch this because people kept telling me this was an outstanding anime, where others said it was horrible, so I was really torn whether to give it a chance. And boy am I glad I did.
At the time I started watching this anime, only 52 episodes (or so) had been released, and I am not lying when I say I marathoned them all in two

days. I was hooked at about episode 4.
Enough chit-chat though. Review time! (Keep in mind this is my first review ever, so bear with me)
Story: 7
The story starts out introducing us to the world of Fiore, a peaceful country ruled by magic of all sorts. Within this country, guilds for mages are stationed about, each having their own way of living life along the people without magical powers, by doing jobs to help various people, using their magic. By this point I was thinking this was gonna be a decent anime, no matter which way they turned it. We're introduced to the main characters and their guild, Fairy Tail, and soon they have problems (of different kinds) on their hands. Following their progress through all these problems was an enjoyment I looked forward to every Saturday and I still miss the thrill of seeing some of my favorite characters kick the villain's face in.
Well having me ramble on about every arc's ups and downs, will take forever, so I'll just say; I thoroughly enjoyed the story as it were, and see no reason to complain.
Art: 6
The art was a disappointment on my part. There weren't, at any point, a moment where I thought; "Wow that is really great animation", like I've caught myself do in other anime. I gotta say though, I've seen worse then Fairy Tail and I would also say that it's pretty decent in the last couple of episodes. The huge amount of fan-service bothered me a bit, but they had to appeal to the male audience somehow. Plus if you've seen High School of The Dead, it doesn't bother you at all..
Sound: 9
If one thing drew me in about Fairy Tail, it would be the soundtrack. The different kinds of music each scene brought had me ripped along with the mood, whether it was an action or an emotional scene. The soundtracks were mostly brought to life by the performance of harmonica, violin and at times piano and electric guitar. The voice actors did a fantastic job portraying the characters. However, I do not recommend watching the dub, as it is one of the worst dubs I have ever seen. (Along the line with One Piece dub)
Characters: 8
The characters were enjoyable in themselves. different kinds of personalities mixed together to make one big ball of comedy and interactions. Our first main heroine Lucy is what you'd call the "reasonist", as she is the most "sane" in the group of main characters, and usually keeps them from being too stupid (same kind of role given to Shinpachi from Gintama). Her role in the series is basically the "damsel in distress", though she can be tough when she wants to be. I liked her either way.
Next we have our first main male character, Natsu. Natsu is the short tempered, adventurous hero, who we all know and love. Having been a member since childhood, Natsu's the one who introduces both Lucy and the viewers to Fairy Tail and all it's members. In my eyes, Natsu was simply one of the coolest characters on the show, which was his job. He did a good job.
Then we have Gray, the polar opposite to Natsu, literally. No really, despite Natsu and Gray's fighting all the time, they are quite similar, though none of them is willing to admit that fact. Same as with Lucy, Gray have a certain role of "sanity" in the group, which portrays him as cool and collected (at most times), He is separated from Lucy in that aspect because of his constant fighting and competing with Natsu, and his need to walk around half naked most of the time. So all in all I love this guy XD
Erza, our second main female can be summed up in one word; scary. Don't get me wrong, I don't find her particularly scary, but everybody in the anime sure as hell does. Basically one look from her would have Natsu, who's usually not afraid of anything (A trait he shares with Luffy from One Piece), shaking at his knees and obey everything she has to say. None of the other characters are any different in that area. Through her arc though we learn she has a soft side, which made me like her a whole lot better.
The sub-characters were all enjoyable people, who I also got attached to through the series. I all in all love these characters.
Enjoyment: 7
I enjoyed watching Fairy Tail to the fullest, but forgot it rather quickly after it ended. I do still miss a new episode every Saturday, but I cope with watching other animes at the moment.
Overall I gave Fairy Tail an 8 for it's amazing soundtrack and it's super characters. If there was anything I would have liked there to be, it would have been romance, or at least I think so. I'm really torn on that. On one side, I know I would love there to be some slight romance going on between the characters, but on the other I also know it would steer the anime away from what it really is, which is in fact a Shounen anime. So I settle for it's other amazing qualities.
I recommend you to watch this anime right now and make your own opinion on it. The more people watch it, the more of a chance we have of getting more, since it was never announced that the story of Fairy Tail is over.
