It's always nice when the dark side has cookies and lets you eat them too.
I don't understand the low scores but some people were obviously expecting something other than what was being told. Here's a tip, just watch the show without prior knowledge and you will enjoy it. If you were a fan of Kaze no Stigma's main protagonist, you will like this show quite a bit.
The Adventure_
Briefly, the demon lord is resurrected in a new era and wishes to see if the seeds of his efforts with the hero of old had bore fruit. As the story unfolds, he meets different students and
...
staff at the academy which gradually brings him to the truth of the era and how the events he remembered last were altered.
Artwork_
Don't ever think you can knock how much effort these artists put into this work. The angles, the feeling of how large battles were and how much power each character possessed. They did a phenomenal job with expression, environments, background characters, and special effects. Wonderful job and I appreciate their hard work on this section.
Sound_
The background music! It's surprisingly theatrical and very well suited to the storyline. You will easily forget how drawn in to a scene you are because of how well setup it is with the soundtrack. The OP is abysmal though- that note at the end of the OP was like looking into the abyss. omG (Just skip the OP, please.)
Character_
Anos is the embodiment of what you'd want to expect of a demon lord: knowledge, strength, wisdom, teachable, thoughtful, and a gentleman. He's a pleasure to watch. The next best character to me would be the substitute teacher. I have a soft spot for genuine teachers who actually care about educating students without bias. Although I do think she is guilty of a certain bias with a certain someone that I wouldn't mind a few spin-offs for. haha Generally though, everyone grows through their personal troubles and becomes a better version of themselves. There's even romance that develops outside of the MC for once. It's nice!
Enjoyment_
I'm telling you, if you like seeing a MC who's badass and knows it and doesn't take no trash, Anos is your man. If you didn't like that wench from Shield Hero, you'll see her here and boooooy does she get what she deserves! It's so satisfying omG it is satisfying!!
TL;DR_
DONT READ MANGA! WATCH THIS WITHOUT PRETENSE AND MARATHON IT! SKIP OP IT'S TERRIBLE. ENJOY FOR ONCE A MC WHO'S NOT A BISH!

Is it alright to tell a lie for so long that it becomes a fundamental truth all in the name of preserving peace?
Kanata no Astra is one of those anime that come along once in a few years. If you need to scratch your space exploration itch after watching Space Battleship Yamato or Interstellar, this will be a great fix. You absolutely should download this as a batch file, clear your afternoon, and binge watch this series without interruptions.
There are no spoilers so I'll be extremely brief on each topic.
Story___
Science Fiction, Drama, Mystery, Comedy, Romance, History, Psychology, Ethics, and Sociology. I know I am
...
probably missing a few more but these are just some of the concepts the story touches on throughout the adventure. Sure, some situations don't take rocket science to figure out what the solution might be but it is still an enjoyable ride. It's one of those stories that you will remember when all is said and done.
Art___
The artwork has been consistant, imaginative, colorful, and inspiring. I am grateful for the work that went into the landscapes, planets, characters and expressiveness of the worlds they traveled through. Emotions were captured marvellously.
Sound___
Kanata's VA was spot on. I could listen to him all day. Nobody for once was annoying to listen to in this show and that's rare. The background music does an amazing job at setting the mood without being too distracting. I actually sat through all the OP and ED themes! Pop on some quality headphones and this will be a great theatrical marathon.
Character____
Development galore. If you look back at how the cast started in the first episode vs the last, you'll be very satisfied with this section. By far though, the main protagonist is the one to keep your eyes on.
Enjoyment____
If you like anything about Interstellar, Yamato, Eureka 7, Xenosaga... YOU WILL ENJOY THE ADVENTURE! It is long and just as there is a beginning, there is a full closure to look forward to. It is the cake that you get to eat too. Just WATCH!
OVERALL
YoU nEEd tO WatCH tHiS SHoW!!! For Kanata's sake, it has episodes that are 48 mins long. I WISH EVERY ANIME HAD LAST EPISODES THAT WERE 48 MINUTES LONG SO I CAN GET FULL CLOSURE! TwT

This show requires at least two episodes to find if it's your flavor. Watch a third and you're in for the long run.
StOrY 8/10
The story is slow as first and moves similar to a train. Once you are at a cruise, you feel very comfortable. You watch the scenery just fly by while losing yourself in your own thoughts. After 3 episodes, you will find yourself thinking about what will happen with the love triangles, relationships, and school lives of the characters.
ArT 7/10
The artwork reminds me of certain old movies but it is very suitable for this kind of storytelling. Sometimes can convey a mood
...
of depression or just normalcy. As if nothing extraordinary is going to happen. I think it allows you to focus more on the emotions being laid out to the viewer.
Oh and the lighting detail is very charming. I can't ignore that. I love the art.
SoUnD 7/10
I'll be honest, I was so engrossed in the visuals and story that I didn't notice the soundtrack. Some shows actually do a bad job with synchronizing what's happening or transitions in scenes. You won't experience that here. More often than not, there isn't any music. Just the natural environment. It does its job and that's what matters- to set the mood.
ChArAcTeR 8/10
The characters do seem boring or bland at first. But they all have somewhere they want to go and are hung up in some way with their own feelings and inexperience. Izumi might be the most interesting to watch because he doesn't say much but his actions do all the work. He's very likable. I feel like they could express themselves a little more but I'm pretty satisfied with what I'm getting.
EnJoYmEnT 7/10
It's a slice of life/romance. The comedy is scarce but the drama is ever building. I'm 6 episodes in and the cliffhanger is REALLY good.. I'm enjoying what I'm seeing and I can't comment more on that. If you don't have patience, pass on this one.
VeRdIcT 8/10
The show isn't finished airing but going in with little expectation and knowing it was a slow show that requires two episodes to get into, I am very happy with what I've seen so far. I'm definitely looking forward to next week.
Tip: Watch 3 episodes at a time if you can. ;]

The continuation of a comedy about 4+ girls going to school. What more could you want? *coughKyoukocough*
[Story]
Plain and simple, there is no story. You can imagine there will be a short arc spanning 2-3 episodes at the most but generally, this is an anime about the daily lives of middle school girls. If you've watched the first season, you know what I'm talking about.
[Art]
Since the very start, the art has been soft on the eyes and continues to be so. This time around, I'd say that the animation has improved greatly. Toshino Kyouko, for example, has generated more irrational body language than ever before! (lol)
...
If you really search, you'll find some impurities in this divine anime but c'mon..
[Sound]
Everything is spot on. You forget this was done in a studio. xD The seiyuu seem a little better this time around but that could be just me. There's nothing notable that brings down the already great quality of the girls' endeavors. The OP and ED are fun to watch as well.
[Character]
Pffff!! Toshino Kyouko! It feels like everything revolves around her and when it doesn't, the episode is a little more serious than usual. That aside, each girl has a dominant quality about them to be remembered. Kyouko, spontaneous.. Chiaki, Bad artist... Yui, swag.. Himawari, breasts/poise.. and so on. Unfortunately Akari, the most forgotten, is a character in itself too. Everybody stands out well and has a sense of individuality which you'll like a lot when growing towards a favorite.
[Enjoyment & Overall]
If you don't laugh in the first episode, you shouldn't watch this show. If you are opposed to Yuri in any way, you will not enjoy this anime. If you are looking for development of any kind, you will not like this show. I don't always watch anime of the yuri genre, but when I do.. I kick it with Rivarun.
Overall, the show is funny and a great second season to the first. You'll look forward to the rest of the episodes and whatever else that may come after.

Tales of Zetman
This will be a review from an anime-only viewer. Non-biased in any way whatsoever. (Also my first.)
Story:
The Tales of Vesperia reference wasn't for nothing. Two youths that fight in the name of justice but with different ideals. In time their ideals mold who they are and how they serve the community. But that is just a small tidbit of the bigger plot. (Which really isn't that big.) An underground faction of corporate heads and scientists alike manifested these "monsters" called Players, or EVOL, for the mass entertainment of the wealthy class. These specimen broke free of their cage and now run free.
...
The faction are trying to clean up a mess that they started and seek out someone to do it for them.
The EVOL, however, have developed minds of their own and wish to live in peace. But of course, not all have that intent.
Art:
The artwork is undeniably great. If you are not an accomplished artist yourself, you have no right so say this isn't good artwork. There's plenty of detail from the characters faces to the automobiles they ride in. Very satisfied in that department. The animation gets pretty sketchy when fight scenes roll around but you could say it is meant to be that way to express the speed of the battle. The action isn't very exciting if you've watched shows like Nisemonogatari and Senki Zesshou Symphogear. But it gets by with a Deadman Wonderland type of feel.
Sound:
The music isn't anything noticeable as I've never really paid it much mind up to this point. That could be a good an bad thing whereas it is so subtle it can ease you in the mood of a setting without you knowing or simply make something boring. It's either, or. But that's the soundtrack. That OP Theme is on some next sh*t. 8D
Character:
To anyone who's played Tales of Vesperia, this story is all to familiar. You have your Yuri Lowell, Jin, a man of the people who does for not himself but those around him that need it. Not a penny to his name, Jin spends a lot of his time aiding the community in various ways. On the other hand, we have out Flynn Scifo, Amagi Kouga, who fights in the name of justice in his own way, albeit more flashy. Unlike Jin, Kouga is bound by his father's reign, and his lack of strength. Thus his fight to prove himself to Jin.
Enjoyment:
I almost cried on the first episode.
..and on the second. And on the third. ;_;
Overall:
Zetman is a disappointment to its manga followers. But to those who are fresh to the series and enjoy a good strong gripping story with interesting characters reminiscent of Tiger and Bunny, it's worth the time. If your a manga reader and ready to moan n' groan, then steer clear of this adaptation. Otherwise, I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a good story of romance, justice, tears and corruption.
