Jormungand
add

Both anime are very similar, being action anime with a lot of gunfire in foreign lands featuring white haired females. Expect arms dealers, gunfights, organized crime, international sleuths, terrorism, and beyond. Canaan follows an investigation taking place in China, which leads to a lot of action and mysteries. Jormungand is about international arms dealers. Both anime are really incredible and showcase the feats of this anime genre well. Canaan has some sci-fi elements, whereas Jormungand is more focused on military exploits and crime. That said, both anime feel very similar and deliver on the same viewing pleasures for fans of the niche.

Shake-chan
add

Both anime feature anime girl animals and the perils of their existence. Shake-chan is about a fish girl who wants to be eaten, whereas Gokicha is about a cockroach girl trying to survive. They're both very short anime with a lot of the same style of humor and formatting. If you liked one, check out the other.

If you liked
Yakusoku no Neverland

...then you might like
Shadows House
add

Both anime feature fleetingly serene environments that hide much darker secrets as the visage falls to the wayside. Both anime involve young characters enclosed in a single building (a massive mansion in Shadows House, and a large orphanage in Neverland). The two anime do differ in a lot of areas, Shadows House being about people made of soot and their personal assistants, as well as a lot of hierarchy and family politics, whereas Neverland follows a group of orphans who uncover forbidden knowledge. Both anime though have very similar tone, presentation, settings, and feel very similar (yet different enough to be unique watching experiences). If you enjoyed one, check out the other.

Boogiepop wa Warawanai
add

Both anime are relatively similar. They both feature a mysterious figure, bizarre unexplainable murders, and are both very abstract and experimental in how they tell their stories. They also both feature phenomenal soundtracks, and similar pacing and presentation. These are very artistic and dark anime with a lot of mysteries and questions. They both feature a lot of characters and bouncing around, slowly developing an overall story from many different perspectives. If you liked one you'll also likely enjoy the other.

Aria the Animation

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée The Animation
add

Both are peaceful iyashikei mature slice of life anime with settings inspired by Europe. Aria takes place on terraformed Mars (now called Aqua) in the city of Neo Venezia, which is a spin on Italy's Venice. Croisée takes place in 19th century Paris. Despite the two anime having very different time periods they're both incredibly similar in tone, having similar presentation, pacing, themes, music, and so on. They're both anime that showcase characters in a work environment (Aria follows gondoliers, Croisée a metalworking shop), and follows life's ups and downs of the female lead and surrounding cast. Both anime are brilliantly done, and if you liked one and want more of the same vibe, then check out the other.

Ristorante Paradiso
add

Both are slow-moving but incredibly captivating and phenomenal slice of life anime with settings inspired by Italy. Aria takes place on terraformed Mars (now called Aqua) in the city of Neo Venezia, which is a spin on Italy's Venice. Ristorante Paradiso takes place in a (then current) Rome setting. Both anime are about people and work, Aria is about gondoliers, and Ristorante Paradiso is about a fine dining restaurant. Both anime are incredibly warm and have very similar peaceful and serene atmospheres. These anime are mature slice of life anime about people, their world, their jobs, their stories, and how all of those aspects shape their lives. Although they have pretty different themes and casts (Aria being mostly females, Ristorante mostly males), they deliver a lot of the same emotions and have a similar viewing experience. I can't recommend either anime enough, if you enjoyed one then certainly check out the other.

If you liked
Taishou Yakyuu Musume.

...then you might like
Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine
add

Both anime are about teams of schoolgirls playing baseball. Cinderella Nine takes a modern approach to the topic, with it taking place in the present, whereas Taishou Yakyuu Musume takes place in the 1920s. The 1920s setting does actually play a role in Taishou Yakyuu Musume's story, but the two shows are still very similar despite of that major league difference. Both anime feature underdog girls school baseball teams growing and competing with a dose of non-direct sports offerings as well. If you liked one you should check out the other as they're both about schoolgirls playing baseball.

Jitsu wa Watashi wa
add

Both of these anime have a very similar premise. Both are school harem anime with a mix of other genres thrown into the mix. Both also feature a single male surrounded by girls who are various kinds of monsters, with the main heroine in both anime being a vampire girl. More and more unique characters get added throughout both anime. I personally find Jitsu wa Watashi wa to be the stronger of the two, but if you liked one you should check out the other as their premises are so similar.

Sketchbook: Full Color's
add

Both anime are extremely similar, both being 00s SOL anime about a group of artist girls. In Sketchbook it's a group of students in an art club, whereas Hidamari Sketch the girls all live in the same apartment building and attend an arts school. Both anime are slice of life stories with cute and wonderful characters, very gentle atmospheres, and a nice dose of comedy as well. Very calming and similar, if you liked one, then certainly check out the other.

If you liked
Mahoutsukai no Yome

...then you might like
Totsukuni no Shoujo
add

Very similar premises, a mysterious monster-like adult male accompanied by a much younger female in a European style setting with a lot of urban fantasy elements. Mahoutsukai no Yome is a full-on series, complete with gentle moments, action, drama, mystery, and so on (plus a phenomenal soundtrack), whereas Totsukuni no Shoujo is two much simpler OVAs. Both anime are excellent though and are very similar to one another in concept, setting, and tone. If you liked one you'll likely like the other.

If you liked
Witch Hunter Robin
add
...then you might like
Majo to Yajuu
add

Both feature organizations hunting and fighting witches and people with powers using their own powers and a variety of weapons. Both anime have a gothic tone to them, though Witch Hunter Robin is very much a product of its time (a good thing in my opinion). The anime have a lot of similarities -- people with powers fighting, organized task forces, and individual smaller plots tying into an over-arching narrative. Witch Hunter Robin is a whole team with a detective edge to things, whereas Majo to Yajuu is a team of two and is more urban fantasy. If you liked one though then check out the other, they're different enough to feel unique but similar enough to deliver on a lot of the same beats.

Both are top-notch futanari hentai. Milk Pot focuses on a single futa, whereas most of the cast in Futabu are futas. Lots of lewd scenes featuring futanari girls, if you enjoyed one then the other is a must watch!

Dai Mahou Touge
add

Two extremely similar short anime series. Both feature a girl from a magical world inflicting carnage and pain on others with a lot of zany and comical chaos. The humor is very similar, lots of violence, crass jokes, and idiocy. Dokuro-chan is more explicit having tons of blood and gore, whereas Dai Mahou Touge is more wrestling violence, but both anime are extremely similar, if you like one then definitely watch the other. Both anime also feature iconic OPs that are insanely catchy.

Lily C.A.T.
add

Both are criminally underrated pre-2000 sci-fi horror anime. In both mysterious things happen onboard a space craft with a lot of murders as a hidden threat takes out the crew one by one. Injuu Alien is a pinku (story-based hentai), lots of tentacle rape. Lily C.A.T. is far less explicit. Both anime have very similar plots and stories, and the same sense of old-school sci-fi horror. They're both from different generations, Injuu Alien from the 90s and Roots Search from the 80s. Lily C.A.T. is more slow and steady, whereas Injuu Alien is more fast-paced, but if you liked one (and are open to hentai) then check out the other.

Both anime are shoujo ai bicycling anime where a newbie to the sport/hobby is taken under the wing of a more experienced group. Both anime follow the protagonist's exploration and growth in the sport, and follows their aspirations and feats as they overcome all sorts of physical challenges. Both anime have amazing atmosphere, progression, characters, and there is a true sense of the world opening up as their protagonists explore the world of bike riding. Both anime are very similar, if you like one, then odds are you'll like the other.

Mainichi ga Nichiyoubi
add

Both are 90s cop anime OVA series (though You're Under Arrest later becomes a full multi-season TV series). Both anime feature dated comedy, and a wonderful mix of outlandish plots, cop stuff (like chasing criminals), and comedy. You're Under Arrest has more character development and real police investigations and "missions", whereas Mainichi ga Nichiyoubi is mostly a gag anime. I personally prefer You're Under Arrest, but if you liked one and need more 90s anime cop shenanigans, can't go wrong with either show.

C Danchi
add

Both are horror anime that take place in small countryside towns. Both involve mysterious newcomers to the village, dark and scary events that can't be explained by the townsfolk, and heavily rely on trust and paranoia in their overall narratives. A lot of mystery and suspicion that gradually escalates throughout both anime. Although the secrets are quite different, the overall narrative and formatting is very similar between the two anime. Shiki is a 22 episode series, whereas C Danchi is only 4 episodes, but if you enjoyed one then it's worth checking out the other.

Both are comedy anime about mental health issues and sexual deviants. HenSemi is about a university class where all of the students have bizarre fetishes, whereas Anime de Wakaru Shinryounaika is about a doctor and nurse who analyze various mental disorders and -philias/-complexes. HenSemi is more of a blatant sex comedy, whereas Anime de Wakaru Shinryounaika is more of an educational / medical comedy, but I found that they have a similar sense of humor, and if you like one you should try the other.

Kaze no Naka no Shoujo: Kinpatsu no Jeanie
add

Both are phenomenal historical anime that came out in the 90s (Bush Baby's setting being more "modern" than Kinpatsu no Jeanie). Both anime follow a girl and her life, highs and lows, and a variety of other things. Both anime have a sense of adventure and are full of heart-touching moments and excellent storytelling. Kinpatsu no Jeanie takes place in 1800s America, and has more romance and drama than Bush Baby. Bush Baby is about a girl living in Africa with her pet bush baby and has more comedy and adventure (with its own heavy dose of drama as well). Both anime also stand out for featuring black characters and touching upon the subject of race (a complex issue that very few anime try to cover).

Two brilliant historical anime with heavy old-school shoujo overtones (Candy Candy being heavier on the shoujo than Kinpatsu no Jeanie). Both anime follow a girl in old America and follows their life, trials, highs and lows, romance, and the various lives they touch and people they interact with. Both anime are heavy on the story and over-arching plot-lines, have similar protagonists, and very similar settings. In Candy Candy, it follows a girl by the name of Candy, an orphan and the trials she faces growing up. Kinpatsu no Jeanie is about a girl trying to become something greater than herself in 1800s America. Both anime are full of incredible stories, excellent characters, drama, romance, and are both absolutely phenomenal historical coming-of-age stories.

Shukusei!! Loli Kami Requiem ☆

Probably weird to recommend an entire anime based on a music video and vice versa, but Loli Kami Requiem references Lemon Angel in its lyrics, directly pulling the line "lonely loli" (which was a hit Lemon Angel song back in the 80s). If you like the music video and want some history on lolicon music, then check out Lemon Angel, and if you've seen Lemon Angel and want to see how it's influenced later music, then check out Loli Kami Requiem.

Mujigen Hunter Fandora
add

There's a trio of these types of OVA anime that are all similar to each other (Dream Hunter Rem, Mujigen Hunter Fandora, and Genmu Senki Leda). Fandora is the bigger series of the two, spanning three episodes, whereas Leda is a single 70 minute romp. Both are 80s OVA classics with bikini-armor babes duking it out against enemies. Both anime also prominently display that iconic mix of SF and fantasy present in 80s and 90s anime. Fandora has more action whereas Leda is more about building the overall plot and is less action orientated (though does have some action). If you liked one you should most certainly check out the other.

There's a trio of these types of OVA anime that are all similar to each other (Dream Hunter Rem, Mujigen Hunter Fandora, and Genmu Senki Leda). Dream Hunter Rem is more action packed and varied than Leda, but both are excellent 80s OVA anime. Phenomenal character designs that showcase the strengths of the era. Both feature bikini-armor-clad girls fighting various enemies with that awesome older anime fantasy style. Dream Hunter Rem is more explicit (even including a hentai episode). Leda is more about building the overall plot and is less chaotic compared to Rem. If you liked one you should most certainly check out the other.

Both anime are about a group of characters exploring a post-apocalyptic world. In Coppelion it's high school girls who are in search of survivors, in Tengoku Daimakyou it's two characters in search of things that are meaningful to them specifically. The two anime are quite similar in many ways -- characters exploring destroyed ruins of society, engaging with (sometimes hostile) survivors, a mix of action and drama, and a general mission to tie the series together. Slayers is a 90s fantasy anime classic, and Konosuba is a 2010s isekai classic. Isekai anime are basically the modern evolution of fantasy anime, such as shows like Slayers. Both anime feature a ragtag group of heroes who realistically shouldn't reach any level of success in their adventures. Lots of humor, action, great characters, and so on. Konosuba is an isekai anime, meaning the main character is transported to the fantasy world, whereas Slayers is a straight-shooting fantasy anime. Although the two shows do have a lot of noticeable differences, especially those tied to their own unique eras (with Slayers being quite "90s"), if you liked one you should give the other one a shot.
