Are you tired of romance stories where the plot is carried by misunderstandings that could be swiftly solved by a simple but somewhat alien concept known as dialogue? Do you want to do away with slow developments, constant rivals and drama, and would rather some fluff and a couple with great chemistry instead? Well, look no further. Those two manga got you covered, and if you finish one and if left with an earning for more, you have to read the other.

Gau-chan to Issho

While pretty different to Punpun, in that Gau-chan is a lighthearted comedy, they share the same kind of weird, nonsensical sense of humour, so much that it's hard to not think of Inio Asano as soon as you start reading it.

Houseki no Kuni
add

Although both settings are completely distinct, they both share the same theme of the loss of innocence and how chaotic life can get from that point on, whether you make good decisions or not. They are also unapologetic about how ambivalent reality can be, and do not provide simple answers for their dilemmas.

Taihai no Hanauri

Both share the same theme of a 'monster' guardian who cares for an outsider human girl in a dangerous world, but Taihai is a 4-koma and relies more on humour.

Blame! was a big influence for Girls' Last Tour as stated by the creator herself in an interview, even borrowing ideas like calling the world a 'megastructure' or 'city'. They both share similar atmospheres, art and the main concept of a pair travelling through a bleak, unexplained post-apocalyptic future, but Blame!'s an action-packed story with few dialogues, whereas Girl's Last Tour has a more soothing, slow feel to it tinged with existential musings.
