Girls Band Cry

Dysfunctional girls start a band together. Tons of raw human emotion without easy resolutions or "hug together and drama is over" moments like in other girl band shows

Yuusha ga Shinda!
add

Both really funny shows with a scumbag protagonist, ecchi, and strange wacky comedy with great comedic direction. Kaminaki is isekai and Yuusha is fantasy, pick your poison.

The essential Kirara companion series to BTR. Both series have cameos in each other, and both mangaka are friends with each other.

Estab-Life: Great Escape
add

Similar Cute Girls with Cool Guns show. Both shows even have a kind MC who has supernatural bullet dodging skills. As well as the same tone of weird fun stuff in a dystopia. And the exact same gag where someone takes cover from bullet fire behind a suitcase with the client hiding inside.

Estab-Life: Great Escape

Both shows have very similar premises, ie exploring different parts of Japan all isolated into various different cultures. Both have a very fun, adventurous feel to them, though I feel Estab Life is more successful than Rolling Girls in terms of delivering a consistent experience.

Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle - Rhyme Anima
add

Hypnosis Mic is Symphogear G/GX/XV with boys. There's an extravagant flair and fabulous music-based action scenes in both, as well as a great dose of yuri/yaoi bait. Same director as the later Geah seasons too.

Meikyuu Black Company is what happens if Kamina is the MC of TTGL throughout the entirety of it. It is glorious.

Odd Taxi
add

Hear me out on this. While these two shows have very little in common, if you enjoyed the gacha episode in Odd Taxi, you will enjoy Last Period, a show entirely about the ills of gacha. Shows critiquing the very nature of gacha is incredibly rare, and both shows do portray the declining sanity of the gacha addict very well. Also Hanae Natsuki is the MC for both.

Yama no Susume: Omoide Present
add

Moreso than any other season of Yama no Susume, Omoide Present is so excellent in its depiction of Hanno I would consider it a good starting point for anyone considering jumping into the series. If you're already a fan of NNB, Omoide is the closest analogue to it, being the absolute best YnS can offer, yet short enough to be a standalone. If you like what you see, the first and second seasons won't disappoint.

Wonder Egg Priority
add

Both are episodic adventures through the human subconscious with vaguely Jungian themes throughout. WEP does deal with more serious social issues than FliFla, but perhaps because of this stumbles more to the end than FliFla. Both shows are immensely fun though, and an absolute gorgeous sight to behold.

Id:Invaded

ID: Invaded is what you get when you mix FliFla and a police procedure show into a blender. Starts of episodic with creative weird dives into the subconscious before starting to focus on a final story arc.

Adachi to Shimamura
add

Adachi to Shimamura is very much a refinement of a lot of the concepts from Denpa Onna with a better execution and a stronger focus in its subject manner. While a lot more grounded in reality (relatively at least), it manages to retain the same quirkiness for the peripheral cast while focusing its attention on the main couple.

Negima!?
add

Shaft's Negima is very much a spiritual successor to Pani Poni in terms of style and, when it doesn't take itself seriously, content. The humour is very much on par with PPD and its best moments could easily be mistaken for either show.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei

Great surreal animation and they make great companion pieces to each other. The hard biting social commentary of SZS with the soft comforting Hidamari Sketch pair up so beautifully together. Same director, staff and cast help too.

Hangyakusei Million Arthur
add

The secret season 3 of Ai Mai Mii is in the last 2 minutes of every Million Arthur episode (which is basically a continuation of the Jakusansei ONA series). It's Ai Mai Mii in every way apart from being shorter and with less of a focus.

Last Period: Owarinaki Rasen no Monogatari

Hangyakusei Million Arthur
add

Both are mobage adaptations with a great sense of humor. Million Arthur isn't nearly as wacky or meta as Last Period though, but both shows are pretty similar humor wise and are really enjoyable for being schlock.
