WARNING: I beg you, DON'T WATCH THIS ANIME before the manga/novel! YOU'LL DESTROY THIS AMAZING WORK! READ THE MANGA/NOVEL INSTEAD! OTHERWISE YOU'LL REGRET IT!
This anime isn't bad but watching it first you'll miss the unique opportunity to be amazed by this wonderful story. The real story is too good to miss it that way.
Whether you prefer to read the manga or the novel is up to you because they are really close. Add the anime only as a bonus _afterwards_! I'm no one who prefers a books over a movie on principle but here it does matter a lot and decides whether you're going to
...
cry from feelings or whether you'll be very disappointed.
No.6 has an amazing story which is touching, heavy, beautiful, scaring, anxious, heart-warming with characters who develop really much. The anime misses all kinds of moments which strengthen the bound between the characters as well as those that show their duality way clearer. Everything that is happening looks rather random! It's totally not that understanding, touching and _real_ like the manga/novel. Important moments are pressed together without the real atmosphere of the places.
If you read the manga/novel it might let you be stunned for a long time. And if you watch the anime _afterwards_ you'll totally understand why I wrote this.
Furthermore, the anime's end is extremely unsatisfying.
As I already said, this anime isn't bad but it's nothing to be compared with the real story.
Even the ranking shows it:
Manga: #157
Novel: #36
Anime: #787
The manga's art is beautiful and vivid. I kind of even preferred the manga (it is completed) and read the the end of the novel + "No.6 beyond" as an extra to know what will happen after.

That's the cutest and cheekiest manga I've ever read. Lively characters which are absolutely adorable, beautiful art, a really lovely story and many sexy, cheeky and pretty naughty scenes. I just want to squeeze the hell out of them! Those two sunshines are the maximum of adorableness. :D
Too bad it's a one-shot because I'd follow those characters everywhere. They abolutely grow dear to your heart.
Kazuhiko Mishima, now I'm your fan! You're amazing! I'm starving for more of your fascinating work.

[at chapter 5]
It's hard to digest this really rough and emotional story. I've read many light feeling mangas but this is one has a tensed heavy story. The art is beautiful, the characters are deep and it has an outstanding manly atmosphere.
Nothing is reduced to superficiality or unimportance with a lack of meaning - because there's a lot of depth in every kind of way.
If you miss a manga with serious and mature content this manga is for you.
You won't see any screaming fangirls, funny boys, cliché or school life but a bitter, extensive, complicated and sweeping relationship between brothers and their past.
Brother
...
x Brother is outstandingly great and it absolutely deserves 9-10/10.
It's pretty mature so it might be too heavy for people who're just looking for a lovely story with handsome boys.
However, if your attitude is serious, give it a try - it's worth it. You'll be carried away by those characters so you'll frequently want to know how it's going to progress - although... sometimes you might want to put this manga away for its emotionally confusing and heavy atmosphere.
Btw, the heavy atomsphere reminds me of stories by Kaori Yuki so if you're looking for other mature and deep stories, read her mangas - they are outstandingly great, too. One of them is the one shot Boy's Next Door.
_______
[completed]
That's for the first half of this manga series, while the second half is amazingly heart warming and delightful. A wonderful embrace of feelings. But still, there are some dark moments inbetween.
Thank you, Kisaragi Hirotaka, thank you for letting us feel all those deeply touching emotions in such a great way and variety.
Towards the end it loses a little bit of its spectacularity but this manga is still really good.

Okay, I take back what I've said before. Amnesia is better than the animes I compared it with. Finally it seems to get really interesting and exciting because of this time leap and time switch confusion. Well, the girl is still lifeless but the riddle becomes quite interesting. It's pretty cliché shoujo atmosphere but at least that's not everything and there are many open questions which make you want to know more about the circumstances.
And I kind of enjoy Shin's dominat temper towards her. ;) Furthermore, I'm curious about the attitude of the other male characters when they
...
become a part of her life in this time leaping world. ;)

Amnesia reminds me of Neo Angelique Abyss and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien:
The heroine is mentally absent, puzzled, confused, obedient, submissive, has a lack of own opinions, no temper and is boring. There's nor charm nor allurement. There's a supporting character (in Kimi: the sister | in Amnesia: the ghost) who is kind of annoying. In Angelique and Amnesia you can find many pretty boys but this cannot replace any content.
At least there's a ray of hope and that's why I think this series might get interesting. Her boyfriend, Shin, says the heroine's personality is different from before. Usually, she'd get angry if he kissed her or become upset when he did this and that - but this usual reaction was missing and he remarked it. So maybe she had a personality and is on her way to get it back?
Also some characters might get interesting and that's why I'll watch it for a while. There still might be some potential but I don't expect much of it.
However, the art is really beautiful and the character's two-colored eyes are pretty creative.
