Special A is one of the best shoujo mangas among the ones I've read. I think any story related to school, romance and friendship can't get any better than this. I understand this can't be everyone's cup of tea but all I can say is it's too good to let it pass by.
STORY: 9/10
While there were a few draggy or dull parts in between, the story never lost its grip. It's a fairly easy and smooth flowing story which manages to keep you invested in the plot. It does get repetitive towards later on but there are parts which are really cute and heartwarming. Of
...
course, some might not like it but I am not going to speak for them.
There were no particularly sad parts and because the mood was always consistent I think the mangaka did a fabulous job with the story. Plus I found a lot of parts of the plot quite original and not much cliches were to be found.
ART: 10/10
I really have no complaints with the art. Hikari's chibi has to be one of the cutest ones I've ever seen. Kei was really good looking too and so were all other ones. Plus the character of Megumi was drawn quite well. The backgrounds and stuff also seemed nice to me.
CHARACTER: 10/10
Hikari and Kei will always remain among my favorite characters ever. I really cared about them and they wholly kept me engrossed in the story. I don't think I've encountered a story where I liked both leads this much. The supporting ones were okay and I thought they were portrayed better in the anime. Still- it was a job well done.
ENJOYMENT: 10/10
I think as long as the enjoyment factor remains, any manga deserves a high rating. It was like I said, one of the most enjoyable mangas I've had the pleasures of reading. The romance, friendship and humor is all excellent.
OVERALL: 10/10
Highly recommended to shoujo genre fans! I think this manga deserves more credit and love than it has already received.

I admit I put this anime off for a very long time because I thought it would be annoying and overrated. However, the moment I started watching I found myself regretting for having put this aside for so long! Now that I have finished watching it I can definitely say this story is one of those to not miss out on.
STORY: It's kind of simple, yet so much more deep. I love how the story manages to pull you in from the beginning (after a couple of episodes or so at max) and never lets you go. It has a lot of events that keep
...
on going which will keep you interested. The best aspect of it was how it was not predictable. You can guess a few things but you will absolutely have no idea how those things will take place.
ART: I liked the art. I think Ren, Sho and Kyoko were all well animated. They had distinct features and I can never confuse them with other shoujo anime characters. The side characters looked good as well. There were moments where I loved simple stuff like their outfits. So I would say they did a good job with the art.
SOUND: The voice actors were great (especially Kyouko). Plus I love all the songs played in this anime. The background was nothing noteworthy but I liked it enough.
CHARACTER: I must say the characters are amazing! Seriously! Kyouko seems lame and Ren seems predictable in the beginning but they completely prove you wrong as the story progresses. If you like slow romance and good character development- this is the story for you. As far as characters go, I don't think there can be more perfect examples.
ENJOYMENT: The humor is great, the drama is gripping and the romantic moments are sweet. For me it left no room to get bored. So it's a very enjoyable anime. :)
OVERALL: 10/10.
I don't know whether I'll ever find a shoujo anime that would beat SKIP BEAT. I will remember it for a long, long time. :)

I think this is one of the most popular anime since it has so many reviews and ratings!! There's no need for another one but heck, I'll just go ahead and write one any way. :D
I think Ouran High School Host Club is one of the most original stories I have come across. The main lead Haruhi and the other Host Club members are so three-dimensional and well explored in the entire anime. This is one of the best shoujo anime/manga in existence (if I am not wrong). It is rightfully popular and loved.
Every kind of enjoyment factor has been included in the show.
...
You have the good-looking guys, the slapstick humor, some romance and lots of great friendship. While it has some drag like moments, it is still as good as an anime gets. What I love most about it was how it was a satire and seemed to be poking fun at the shoujo culture throughout. That was something hard to miss out on. I think the entire story and settings are meant to be satirical.
Haruhi is an awesome female character. I think she's unique and there are next to none characters like her in anime *according to my research*. She's smart, passive and clueless which I love. Still she has the empathy which makes it easy to root for her. The Host Club is full of colorful personalities and what I like about it was how every character seemed to have been explored and developed properly. I never felt like any one was being sidelined or was there just for the saking of being there.
Tamaki- while not the brightest of all, he is funny and likable. The psychological reasons behind his and other characters were all so well-thought by the writer. I have to give credit for that. Plus, they all look wonderful.
I actually saw the drama first and then moved on to the anime because the story appealed to me so much!! I would recommend this to every one and don't hesitate in watching this. :)

When any story starts off with an interesting and funny chapter, it kind of sets high expectations in the mind of a reader. When these expectations fail to meet it ends up as a sore disappointment. I may be a somewhat inexperienced manga reader, but now this made me sure of what I will possibly avoid in the future.
Moe Kare had the formula to be cutesy and funny. While it's jokes worked I think everything else was lazy and cliche. I think it's a standard shoujo story with the bad boy-good girl-good boy love triangle. While I happen to enjoy them if they are depicted
...
well this one awfully reminded me of a love triangle I absolutely hated in the past.
Maybe it's just me but I wasn't really convinced of the feelings of the main girl. The ending was kind of thrown in for the readers. The development that took place was far from believable. The bad boy in this story later on became the kind of guy I never want to witness any character turning into. I felt bad for him and wanted to smack the one-dimensional girl. The worst kind of female character is the one who cries in every chapter.
I don't have anything against the art. It was cute but they looked too young for my taste. They frequently turned into chibi and what was funny till midway was annoying in the later half. It didn't have that much of a plot to begin with. What could have had been finished in 20 chapters was drug out to more than 30. Ah, well.
The story is immature but even immaturity can make sense. This one did not. I would only recommend it to hardcore shoujo lovers or teen girls. For me it held very mediocre enjoyment value.

I love dark anime and this sounded just like it. I really enjoyed this anime. It sounded quite interesting and it didn't disappoint me. I am glad I gave it a chance. I think this is the anime that really brought back my interest and is now turning me into an addict.
The characters were great and I liked how each one had a different side to them. The plot was unique and unpredictable. The writing was consistent till the end.
The animation was visually appealing and the background score was superb. It was a bit slow for my taste but its take on supernatural was interesting.
...
I think the only thing I didn't like was probably the ending. I am someone who likes happy endings and bittersweet ones put me off. I can overlook this and say that overall the anime is great for a one time watch. I would probably not watch it again.

When I began watching this anime, I checked it out because it seemed girly and fun. I have a thing for love triangles and this one seemed perfect. BUT I have to say it let me down terribly. So every one should take this as a WARNING review. I will include all the pros and cons of this show. Kindly keep in mind that I am writing this as a newbie to anime.
The show starts out funny and without making much sense. I expected typical slapstick humour and a bit of romance. The first episode was hilarious but from then it went from being a
...
bag of mixed emotions to utterly painful to watch. This is my first in experiencing difficulty in watching an anime. It was like a bad Asian drama with crappy writing.
I have never seen a girl as indecisive as Momo. Just when I expect that she will redeem herself, she does something which made me struggle to like her. I think the last 4-5 episodes did permanent damage to her character. The writing and her actions were way out of line. No matter how much I enjoy the 'being with two people at once' concept, Momo was the height of indecisiveness. She wasn't that great to begin with and these actions made her even less likable. She kept going back and forth between both guys which was plain tiring to watch. I actually have to say I disliked her immensely. I also have the complaint that she cried too much.
Touji wasn't great till some episodes, but there was a time when I started liking him. Then he disappeared from the radar and when he came back, I didn't care about him anymore. There was nothing about his character that interested me. He and Momo got on my nerves pretty badly when they enjoyed being lovey dovey or making out.
The only character I cared about was Kairi. If he hadn't been there, I would have dropped this show by the 2nd or 3rd episode. I really found him funny and loved his many sides. Then again the writer tries to throw in stuff and make him into an indecisive jerk. I was okay with that too. Then came some more dumb situations and all that was left was a poor version of Kairi who had become the victim of bad writing. His character had so much potential but the writer ruined it all by the end by making him mopey and annoying.
Then there was Sae who I absolutely despised. She was a tad too good at manipulating people. She provided for most of the drama and was a catalyst for most of the plot. I couldn't believe it but she turned out to be very entertaining in the last half. She remained herself and toned down her evil side a little. I liked what she did to get the couple I wanted in the end together. Her actions aren't forgivable, but since she went through hell herself I thought it was alright.
The only reason to hang on for the show is its ending. It was how I wanted and Momo finally picked the right guy. I still wasn't happy that she was making out with the other guy till minutes before she decides to choose him. I, as a viewer was still in doubt whether she still stuck to him forever or not. Momo wasn't very reliable.
Anyway- the anime has great humour which also gets lackluster by the end. It is a roller coaster in a bad way, because say that you enjoy riding it but it always makes you feeling ill. The experience of watching this anime was similar. I enjoyed it but I am not too happy with it. I am just glad that it is over. I think I need a break from romantic anime.
