I wasn't expecting a whole lot when I checked this out from the library, but i'm glad I did now! I absolutely loved this series! Its simply adorable and alot of fun to read!

In a nutshell, its about a little bunny named Clover and all of her little forest friends. Theres no ongoing plot, but the little individual stories do tie into each other. I really like the cast of characters and there happens to be some character development going on as well throughout the series.

The writing is surprisingly well done. Its simple enough for kids to understand, yet intelligent enough at the same ... time, so it doesn't treat its target audience as if they where dumb. The chapters are really short too, which also make its it easy for young readers.

Theres honestly not much to say about this series. It is a kids manga afteral. I really recommend picking this one up if your looking for a manga for kids with nothing objectionable in it. Older readers and adults who like cutesy manga and/or animals, who want something light to read, will love this series too.

FYI, if you live in the US and want to find/buy this series, you will not find it in the section where the manga is usually kept in (in the bookstores i've gone to anyways). Instead, you will have to look in where they keep the books for kids/young adults. There are a bunch of other kid friendly manga titles in that section as well. Thought I'd throw in that helpful tip for you all. ;)

(Due to the lack of a review here, I figured I might as well give this series one.)

What can I say about Dragon Eye? Er, then again, i’m not exactly sure what I want to say about it. It wasn’t fantastic, and it wasn’t all that bad either. Overal this series just had a very generic feel to me. The same kind of generic when you get the generic/cheap brand of something from the store. So this series is like the generic version of the big name shonen series like Bleach, Naruto, and Fullmetal Alchemist. Although it has a generic feel, it did manage to ... hold my interest and I was willing to read all 6 volumes my library had without being bored. So that definately means something right there (and I most certainly enjoyed this series more than Naruto).

Story: The story is nothing special really, in the first 6 volumes its like a bunch of mini-arcs loosely strung together, creating a very episodic feel. Its like the mangaka is making up stuff as they go along with only a rough idea of what they want to include later on in the story. The basic story of it all is your run of the mill story-line of the last of humanity fighting of a virus that plagues the world and the creatures that have been infected by it. Which that idea is nothing new, its been done before in other forms of media afteral.

Art: This is probably what I liked most about this series. Most shonen action series ive read have a rough sketch look to it, like it was drawn very quickily. So it was nice to see a typical shonen series not drawn in this style for once, and they do a pretty decent job at it too. The action scenes had a pretty good flow to them, and you can follow them without getting lost. As for the character deigns, they where alright for the most part. Although, no matter how many volumes I read, the eyes of the 3 main characters bugged me. The lead guy, his eyes looked much like Edward’s from FMA. The lead girl, her eyes are like these large circles staring into my soul. Then the other guy, his eyes have a blank look and have these square blocks that mark where the shine on his eys are. Just really odd overall...

Characters: The characters are alright for the most part, but they all remind me of characters that I have read from previous series. So like the story, theres nothing special here either.

Enjoyment: Did I enjoy this series? To be honest it was hard to really tell with the serve case of deja-vu I kept having while reading this. Some of the stuff I kept thinking that I must have seen it from somewhere before. I know for a fact that in volume 1 I wasn’t imagineing things. In the very first chapter of volume 1, Issa (the main character) rips off his shirt to unveil what was underneath and he makes a very dramatic speech about it. Sound familar? Edward Elric did the exact same thing in the first chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist. Thats right, the mangaka here, actually copied FMA! And sorry Issa, you can never pull off such an awsome scene the same way Ed can. Anyways, becides the severe case of deja-vu, this turned out to be one of the more enjoyable less-known shonen action series ive came across. I even found the pacing of both the story and the art work much easier to follow than some series ive encountered, making this series quite enjoyable to read.

Overal: As stated, this isn’t the worst or best manga ive encountered, and I didn’t waste my time reading it either. I found it a nice series to pass the time with, and I wouldn’t mind reading future volumes (even an anime if they ever made one). I also think this series would be better off read by someone who hasn’t read or seen it all like I have, this way you can appreceate it without having the same case of deja-vu like I did.

In conclusion, if youre looking to get away from the main stream shonen series and want something thats decent, Dragon Eye here wouldn’t be a bad option.

Like most people, after hearing how bad this was, and seeing how its starting to grow in popularity, I had to see it for myselef, and they mean it folks, its as bad as they say it is.

Supposedly the whole OVA is based off of a video game. After hearing that, I have a felling that perhaps a group of fans of the game got together and made this. The animation was so poorly done its like a bunch of rookie animators did it and they had no idea what in the hell they where doing. The growls from the monsters sound computer generated. ... The kind of results you get with someone screwing around with the voice-changing option on a computer mic. The voice acting sucked. The music was very oddly placed, and where all renditions of well-known classical music tracks. In fact, I know the last track they play before the credits roll is "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven, sadly the version on my computer that I downloaded sounds better than the version used here.

I could go on, but seriously, the whole thing is a complete mess! Its worse than the very low budget crappy B movies they have on the Sci-fi Channel here in the United States. Overal, this whole OVA is a great example of anime at its worst, and I dare say Naruto and the 2nd season of Tsubasa Chronicle was better than this (and I **HATE** Naruto and the 2nd season of Tsubasa). The only positive thing about this OVA is for its comedic factor, theres some parts you just can't help but burst up laughing they are so stupid.

Some people will say that this is the "Plan 9 from Outer Space" of anime (which is supposedly the worst movie ever made). Sadly, I can't judge that comment because I have yet to see Plan 9, but I have heard about it in great detail. One things is for certain, without a doubt this OVA should earn an award for one of the worst of, not just anime, but of everything (professionally) animated I have EVER seen in my lifetime.
After viewing this, I will now watch something good to help cleanse this filth from my mind....

Ah Disney, how we all love thee.... We all know the movies, sing along to the songs, and they even know we are wiling to buy just about anything with their name on it. Within the past several years, the company has evolved from a company that cared about providing quality entertainment for the whole family into a company that will try and get you to spend every dollar you own on thier name. Its a sight that would even make Walt Disney himselef cry if he where alive today.
Instead of getting into a rant of how low the company has fallen, I will be ... reviewing a product that was created from thier love for money. (Notice how I say “product” and not something like “series”.) Knowing how this manga was nothing more than a product of Disney’s greed to make more money, I went and read it anyways (even though i’m sick of the all of the crap they have made in recent years, excluding the movies by Pixar). So why did I read this even though I know the manga was going to be bad? Well, I love manga, I loved Disney when I was a kid (didn’t we all though?) and the first volumes where sitting there at my local library and I thought “Why not?”. Now on that note, finally the real review on “Kilala Princess”.

Story: Just looking at the cover alone, I knew this was going to be another one of those run of the mill generic fantasy shojo stories. Sure enough, it was. Girl dreams of being a princess, mets a cute guy, cute guy is trying a find a princess, stuff happens, the two fall in love, etc. (And in the end it is quite obvious the princess he is searching for is Kilala anyways) What makes this special is the fact that the Disney Princesses (Trade Mark sign here) are thrown into the mix. But for a generic Shojo story that was made to cash in on the Disney Princess line, its not as bad as I thought it was gong to be. I found it much more enjoyable than the Kingdom Hearts manga (and ive never played the games either, I don’t have a PS2). I thought it was going to be just pure trash with no real plot and just having Disney characters parading about to sucker you into reading it, like all the other crap Disney makes now a days. But no, its almost like both the author and artist are true Disney fans themselves, and actually tried to give us something somewhat worthwhile to read with the princesses we know and love. So they managed to surpise me there, but i’m dispointed they didn’t try a little harder to come up with something a lttle more original. Then again, this was actually made for a younger audience and not hardcore anime fans who have seen it all.

Art: I like the art here. It has a nice blend of east-mets-west. The Disney characters look like thier usual western selefs and not Japan-itzed into anime-looking characters. (I don’t have a problem seeing Western characters drawn anime style though. Sometimes I like seeing the change, it gives a nice new spin on an old classic.....when done right of course.) As for the original characters, sure they look like the usual shojo manga characters, even the two guys looking for the princess look alot like those two guys from of off Tokyo Mew Mew (I forgot their names, and i'm too lazy to look them up right now). But the anime characters are drawn in such a way where when they are standing next to the Disney characters they don’t look too out of next to a western-syle drawn character. So I give the artist a kudos for that.
Also, I like the placement of the pannels and how the arrangement of the art to tell the story here as well. It has a really nice flow to it when you read it. Its not a jumbled up mess with gaps in the story from one pannel to the next, like what ive seen in other manga series spin-offs of a popular franchise (such as Cowboy Bebop and Code Geass for examples).

Character: Lets face it, when we where all young i’m sure just about all of us girly-girls (or once where, like me) out there had dreamed of being a princess at some point and living within the world of Disney. (I sure as hell did. Even dressed up as a princess for Halloween in Kindergraden and imagined living in the world of the Lion King when that movie first came out.) Kilala here is alot like a refection of how we where when we where a kid, and wanting to live out our dreams. Shes also alot like the kind of character you would find in your average Disney Channel-made movie, except she actually has a brain unlike the mindless idiots you see in those movies anymore.
As for the other characters. The anime ones are like your usual shojo cast personality-wise as well. As for the Disney characters, I guess they where in character, at least more so than what it could have been. I’m just glad they wheren’t like a broken record and be like “dreams come true, just belive in yourselef!” or some crap like that like what Disney keeps trying to shove into our faces in recent years. Or something lame like Kilala comes along and helps the Princesses out and there happy again, happily ever after. So the Disney characters here seamed to be handled somewhat better than if they could be directily by thier own company.

Enjoyment: As for enjoyment, I thought it was a fun lil series to read, its better than I thought it would be. Not the best or most original manga ever, but I wouldn’t mind picking up future volumes and reading them (if I can’t find anything else to read anyways, theres lots of other series I would much rather read). If this product was American-made and not Japanese-made like how it could have been, then I just know it would have become the trash I was expecting when I started reading this. (This just proves that the Japanese know how to treat fans better than Americans do.)
Overal, I think this manga would be best enjoyed by shojo manga readers who still love Disney or by young girls who love anime/manga or Disney. If your looking for something original, you won’t find it here, the only thing original (and the only real reason why anyone would even bother reading this) would be for the Disney characters. And they do pretty well with providing this manga just that.

So for another money-making Disney product, this one isn't half bad. I can even see this manga still being made even if the company wasn't being driven by greed....

Mai the Psychic girl without a doubt is one the the strangest manga series I have encountered so far, and there are times where it doesn’t make much sense to me either. And I have came arcoss some pretty strange series that at least make better sense than what Mai tries to tell.

Story: The story starts off pretty decent. You have Mai who happens to be a pretty normal kid except she happens to have psychic powers. An evil organization working behind the sense trying to collect all the kids in the world with psychic powers for their master plan. Eventually the organization goes after ... Mai because of power. So far it seams all fine and dandy, but as it continues things tend to get downright bizarre at times to me. An example (if I remember all of this right) would be the one giant, almost naked, monster-like dude who they sent after to kill Mai, who later he is wearing clothes while driving a truck, helps out Mai and we later find out he happens to be the son of the one old guy as he was a victim in some short of failed experiment or something.......I really fail to see the logic in all of that.
I find the enemy’s master plan on creating a perfect world kinda dumb, and Mai’s role in it makes it seam even more ridiculous. Please also bear in mind that this was also written during the era of the Cold War (you should have been paying attention in History Class if you don’t know about it), because knowing when this was made might help you understand things a little better, especially about the enemy’s plan. The ending I felt was alright, but could have probably been much better. I feel like a topless Mai flying around was unnecessary though, I felt like the artist threw it it as nothing more than fanservice, but then again i’m just pleased there wasn’t much fanservice in this series to begin with. Theres enough strange crap going on in this as it is.

Art: What baffles me about the art is that it looks realistic, yet at the same time its not. Its drawn with a style that is very similar to the comic books here in the US, but in the form of manga, which I find quite interesting. What I don’t like is how, even though it tries to be realistic, theres a bunch of strange-looking people running around in this series, which kills the realistic-ness of the art. it also doesn’t help that to me the people seam pretty stiff as times because of how they are drawn, perhaps this is just because i’m used to seeing so many other manga artists having such a nice flowy feel in their art unlike here.

Character: Thoughout the series you see a change in Mai as she grows and matures, as well as some of the other characters, but as mentioned, theres some pretty odd people in this series.
Its also not very often when somebody manages to create a character in either manga or anime who truly scares me or creeps me out. Yet here we have german girl, Garten, with a very twisted mind who also has psychic powers, and can kill with ease, and boy does she really give me the willies! She scares me as much as Light Yagami from Death Note. So she is definitely someone you really don’t want to mess with!

Enjoyment: Enjoyable to read? Kinda. I found this series pretty amusing for the most part. It managed to grab and maintain my interest better than some of the other series i've read in the past. Theres many series out there I found much more enjoyable. I thought Mai’s battle against the Garten the most enjoyable part of the whole thing. But overall, I thought this series is pretty mediocre.
(One thing I thought was interesting was how the artist managed to throw in a Mickey Mouse plush toy and an apron with Garfield on it in here. Now that you know that, and if you want to read this, you now know some Easter eggs to look for.)

If you're bored, willing to read just about anything, looking for a short series to kill some time, Mai the Psychic girl wouldn’t be a bad series to pass the time with. But if your looking for a series with a more interesting plot, better art, and a series that makes better sense with all of its strange logic, keep looking elsewhere.

(What?! Nobody has reviewed this CLAMP classic yet?! Shame on you people! So i'll do it, but please bear in mind this is my first review....)

Story: Out of all of the series that Clamp has created over the years, X happens to be their darkest, most violent series to date. As usual, Clamp manages to create some unique, and interesting ideas, as well as some surprizes. What I also find interesting is the whole conflict between the Dragons of Heaven and Dragons of Earth. To me, it feels like neither side is simply the "good guys" or "bad guys". The Dragons of Heaven wish to ... save mankind, but if they succeed, the Earth itself will be destroyed because of man's ignorance towards the Earth. The Dragons of Earth wish to eliminate all of the people from the Earth to save it from destruction.
Anyways, no matter what side you're on, this series has a great story that should never fail you keep your interest. If not the art will, which brings me to....

Art: The art here deserves a perfect score. The art may be an older style, it is absolutely gorgeous thoughout the manga. Whether it would be peaceful-looking scene, an action-packed fight, a dream sequence, or even a bloody scene of somebody getting hurt and/or killed, the pictures are beautiful to look at, and well placed. Sometime I even pick up my copies of the manga at look at it just so I can admire the art. Its really that pretty, I even plan on buying the art books next time I see them.

Character: Each and every one of the Dragons of Heaven and Dragons of Earth have their own unique back story, and reasons why they want to fight, all of which I thought where interesting to read about. There is character development here too as well from what I have read so far.

Enjoyment: As stated above, great story, great art, great characters, now put it all together and I thought this is certainly a very enjoyable read. X is definitely Clamp at their best, i'm not exaggerating the perfect scores here either.


As I am writing this, I have only read the first 15 volumes of the manga out of 19. Although, I have yet to read them all, I know X still remains unfinished after all of these years, which I find very unfortunate (X being one of Clamp's earlier works that started in 1992). There is a possible reason behind why this happened. It is because the magazine that was serializing X believed that X was way too violent and had asked Clamp to tone it down, Clamp refused, and the series was dropped. Because the series was under contract with the publishing company, there is no other alternatives at this time to get the rest of the series released. There is hope though, its been rumored that Clamp still plans to continue X, and they just might do it after they complete Tsubasa Chronicle and xxxHolic.

If you have been looking for a very dark, yet beautiful series to read, then give X a try. If you're a Clamp fan, then this is one series you should definitely check out, especially because it even crosses over with Tokyo Babylon and Clamp School Detectives. Also, many characters and elements from X also later reappear in Tsubasa Chronicle. But keep in mind that X may not be for everybody due to its very violent content, and theres certianly lots of gore and violence here, you have been warned.
