I rarely buy manga but berserk was the exception for me, I had everything I could ask for in a fictional series and more. When It comes to the newer berserk adaptations people go straight to the bad CGI for why It's terrible, but I'll try to focus on more than that.
Story: 8 This anime covers the Millennium falcon/hawk arc of the manga and does a pretty good job of staying true the story and not being a mess in the beginning like the 2016 anime.
Art: 1 Baring a few scenes with hand drawn animation the rest is very poor CGI same as last season.
Sound:
...
6 The score by Sagisu Shiro while not as fitting as Hirasawa's music for the 97 series is still epic. Theres a few overused tracks but thats it. Guts voice actor sounded very stiff in 2016 but improved a bit in this series. The rest of the cast was solid.
Character: 9 In this arc guts forms his traveling party all made of characters that get a great amount of development in this arc.
Enjoyment: 6 Once I got past the jarring art and realized it's still berserk's characters and story underneath I got a good amount of enjoyment.
Overall: 6 Whether you like this series or not will depend on how much you love berserk and whether or not you can look past the art. I don't recommend either this series or it's prequel to someone who hasn't read the manga.
